"not much variety of wine and alcohol"

(Australia)

Verified Review | The lounge is on 2 levels with main eating downstairs and more limited offerings upstairs. The food for evening meal was Chinese style but westerners may find something of their liking. There is not much variety of wine and alcohol but juice, soft drink and tea/coffee. Showers are available but you need to book at lounge reception. The lounge is reasonably comfortable and there is a free massage chair. There was one newspaper printed in English.

"a good selection of food"

(Australia)

This excellent lounge is easy to find and well located near the international departures gates. It has a good selection of food, both Chinese and Continental, and a cook ready to prepare your noodle soup to order. Well supplied with a selection of drinks. Being in China, it has a number of high quality Asian teas provided together with cute little tea cups. It is on two levels which both have food and drinks bar. The upper level also has showers and bedrooms with beds so that you can have some sleep during a long wait. Seating is comfortable and there are even massage chairs on upper level. The lounge is on the level of departure gates, no need to struggle up the stairs to it. A short walk will take you to your departure gates.

"needs much improvement"

(Australia)

China Southern business class and first class lounge are combined, located near Gate 1-5. I was flying business so I was guided to the left where the lounge is located. The right hand side is for general Pearl Club access with minimum facilities. The first thing you notice is it is so hot in there. the lounge is semi-open so the temperature relies on the overall temperature of the airport. It's hot! The lounge has two levels. First level is for dining. There are limited buffet dishes for selection. The food was quite average. Lacking fresh fruit and salad. The only highlight for food is the noodle bar. For me, it is great to have some hot noodle soup during a connection. Upstairs, there are some comfortable chairs you could lie down, having a nap, drinks. There are showers, there is always a queue and the facilities in the shower room is very average. The bathroom is really small. Overall, this lounge is good compared with lounges in other major Chinese cities. It needs much improvement to match elite airlines lounges.

"a disappointing lounge"

(China)

A disappointing lounge, particularly considering that it was opened less than two years ago. Compared to other lounges in China, positive points include a large number of seats available, a dedicated wireless network (slow) connection, a very small playground for children and a decent cleanness overall. However the design is cold and impersonal, the quality and quantity of food available is awful (plain rice and steamed vegetables, the choice of drinks is extremely limited (water, Coke/Fanta cans and beers, plus a Nescafe' machine), no newspapers and magazines available and no priority access to boarding.

"business class lounge was very good"

(New Zealand)

China Southern Airlines business class lounge at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport was very good. Comfortable seats, the upstairs section had nibbles, and while downstairs had more extensive food. The showers were great. The negative was that the airport was very warm.

"First/Business lounge is very spacious"

(Australia)

The lounge entrance serves for two China Southern Airlines lounges: First/Business class lounge and a frequent flier lounge. The First/Business lounge is very spacious, has comfortable furniture and even bedroom on its first floor. You can get the bedroom key from the attendant who looks after the shower rooms. With a bit of luck a bedroom is available straight away. Massage chair (no booking required) comfortable lounge seats and a food and drinks bar are adjacent to these facilities. A larger food and drinks bar is available on the ground floor. Food is good and a number of dishes are available. Of course, many of them are Chinese dishes. Chocolates, biscuits, sweets and savoury snacks are in jars. Many types of top quality Chinese teas are available for a private 'tea ceremony' in cute crockery. Coffee and standard tea is also there. Good quality wines, champagnes and spirits are in the drinks section with soft drink section in the fridge. Staff keep replenishing the supplies and keep the lounge clean. While the reception staff speak English and also ensure that we don't miss our flights, the domestic duties staff understand more English than they can speak and communicate with smiles. All in all a very comfortable lounge. The frequent flyer lounge uses the same entrance. It has good food and drinks though the lounge is smaller than the business lounge. It also doesn't have the bedrooms. The best thing is that a silver card is sufficient for admission to this lounge. Most papers and magazines are Chinese and a large proportion of food are Chinese dishes. They are rather delicious and should not pose a problem for non-Chinese eaters. The internet may be an option.

"this is a disappointment"

(United States)

I arrived at Guangzhou early in the morning (about 5am). There was hardly anything at the airport. It was hot as we arrived and there was no aircon in the terminal. I was melting just walking from the plane through immigration. Upon arriving at the lounge, I was greeted by a girl who seemed fed up. Maybe she was forced to work at the early hour. Upon looking at my boarding pass, I proceeded upstairs hoping to freshen up with a shower. However, I was told it was not opened until 8am and my flight depart at 8:30am. Anyway, I decided to get some foods and drinks. This is a disappointment and is a waste of money.

"well below expectation"

(New Zealand)

Well below expectation for a First/Business class lounge. Poor food and beverage choice and very limited options for an international traveller. China Southern Airlines Staff at lounge desk do not communicate at all. Poor communication and very, very limited English spoken. Unable to communicate when there are delays or changes. Very poor announcements made. Speaker was broken and sitting behind a cabinet so added to the poor English, unable to hear what was being said. Could not connect to Wifi - staff unhelpful, unwilling to assist. Due to 4 hour delay in flight this was a very painful experience to be stuck here for 4 hours!

"lounge is reasonably comfortable"

Our transit stop of 7 hours turned into 9 due to aircraft delays. The lounge is on 2 levels with main eating downstairs and more limited offerings upstairs. The food for evening meal was mainly Asian style but most westerners would find something of their liking. There is not much of a variety of wine and alcohol but plenty of juice, soft drink and tea/coffee. Showers are available but you need to book at lounge reception. "tired lounge with electric sockets rather tired"

(United Kingdom)

Used twice tired lounge with electric sockets rather tired (upstairs the seat lighting kept not working as plugs fell out). Showers good but have seen wear. Massage chairs good. A lot of cleaners with minimal English and one or two higher staff who have okay english.
