Zurich Airport

✅ Trip Verified | The Zurich airport is big enough for the numbers of passengers however very friendly. It's quite well organized, easy to go from Schengen Zone to the overseas terminal. Good shopping and nice little bars and coffee shops. My impressions are positive at all.

✅ Trip Verified | Warsaw had a delay with departing flights, so we missed a connection in Zurich. They had us proceed to “Transfer Desk A”, which already had a massive line. First class passengers were split left, and economy right. The workers closed half the booths when the line grew, and it appears the air conditioning was also halted. 4 hours of waiting for vouchers for hotel and food, sweating, with no guidance, while the Swiss employees move at a snails pace. Say what you want about US airlines, at least they don’t treat you like cattle and abuse your time. Will never fly connecting through this airport again.

Not Verified | ZRH is in general an efficient airport but an alarming change in the retail planning seems to have begun in the last three years, I have used the airport weekly since 2009. The change has resulted in herding initiatives, resulting in all passengers being routed via one single pathway into duty free, the duty free itself has enough lighting to be seen from space. Same upon arrival, lights are muted and pleasant through the airport until you arrive at the arrival duty free and then suddenly you are dumped into an operating theatre, it is an attack on the senses. Is the retail marketing here solely driven by spreadsheets and numbers, is there any though given to continuity, design, efficiency or the overall package of the airport in general? The Swiss usually frown on bright light marketing, is there any Swiss involved at all?

✅ Trip Verified | At first glance it seems a good airport. Check in was straight forward. The queue for security was quite long but it was orderly and moved at a steady pace. However, the queue for passport control was the worst I have ever encountered. The lines were not defined, hundreds were crammed into the space. There was a queue to get into the queues! There were staff screaming at passengers to get back and the huge scrum of passengers was barely moving, not enough windows were open and processing was at a crawl. Passengers panicking as they saw their boarding times come and go and would try and push through the queue yelling they'd miss their flight but of course all passengers were stuck and planes had to wait and so our flight was 45 minutes late leaving purely becsuse people simply couldn't get to their flights to board on time. It was absolutely unbelievable, I really can't describe the scenes well enough to explain what a mess it was. Zurich is easily the worst orgsnised airport I have been through would avoid it in future. They should do passport control straight after check in so that there is a steady stream of people completing check in and flowing through. They have it arranged so people check in, do security and then duty free, this creates a bottle neck with everyone going to the gate and to passport control at the same time. Total mayhem.

Not Verified | Airport was extremely clean, staff were helpful and nice. Efficiency was at its best and it was a very pleasant airport to be at. It is one of not the best airport in Europe. Only downside is that there is only 2 hours of wifi free.

✅ Trip Verified | I traveled from Zurich to Doha and from Doha to Bangkok on May 12, 2019. I could easily follow the signs from the airport train station to the Check-in 2 area. The airport was clean. The toilets were also clean and were not hard to find. The lines for the security check were not long. The security check staffs were friendly. Everything there was well organized. It took only about five minutes to pass through. The signs to Gate E were clearly visible. The Skymetro to Gate E took just a few minutes. The free Wi-Fi worked fine. I usually flew from Frankfurt, but decided to change to Zurich airport this time. Zurich airport is a lot better than Frankfurt airport. I will definitely choose Zurich again next time.

Not Verified | I arrived at Zurich for a long layover and would spend as much time in the city as possible. The good: the airport seemed clean and our wait in the various lines wasn't unreasonable (but not short). The bad: the wifi kiosks don't work unless you have a code given to by a staff member, there is pretty limited food/drink options. The biggest bad: the layout of the airport makes absolutely no sense and signage is no help. It took my wife and me far too long to get OUT of the airport because navigating the terminals requires a personal tour guide. I'm willing to admit that my lack of familiarity with the language contributes to this, but I'm still capable of reading basic signs with an arrow directing me to a gate. Start over!

Not Verified | I find this airport strange, it seems good but when you look closer the efficiency is stupendous, so much that it is rude. The organization of signs on the lifts are the worst I have seen in any airport, parking 3 for example is on 5 floors! That is the label. As a family we were given a very hard time about our luggage to the point they held us for over an hour and effectively made us lose our flight, waiting at the gate especially to close it as we arrive! From check in to the gate is incredibly long.

✅ Trip Verified | Infrastructure of this airport is OK but staff are incredibly rude, impolite and aggressive. I have been harassed on the 1st of February at the Gate E62 (PS472) by a female stuff member who was terrorising passengers in order to find an odd extra kg of a hand luggage and make them pay a penalty. This is insane but she was checking every passenger's bag at the Gate (including those with a Hand Luggage Approved tags given at the Check in) with a portable luggage scale making the whole experience humiliating and traumatising. She was treating passengers with such volume of hatred that I have never seen in my life. Her female supervisor was quietly observing. She did not know the airline rules for a hand luggage and despite some people have been members of the airline loyalty programme and thus were given more hand luggage allowance, she made literally everybody pay 75 CHF for a second bag with a laptop or a small personal items - breaching Airline's policy. I was forced to repack my hand luggage in order to fit my laptop into a single bag to find out minutes later that I was allowed to take two items on board. She was not sure how much to charge and for what, so I ended up paying incorrect fee at the end. It seems the staff at Zurich airport is so miserable. This is national disgrace, Switzerland!

✅ Trip Verified | Very good airport. The ways are short, its clean and staff are friendly. Outside there are shops and supermarkets selling products for local prices. Also it handles bad weather conditions well leading to not many delays. Only the wifi service could be improved.
