Zurich Airport

This is one of the worst airport imaginable for transit. I arrived on a snowy night for an overnight transit which required me to check into a hotel outside the airport. The flight from London arrived behind schedule around 10.45. There was no train or public transport available. Had to take an expensive taxi to a hotel barely 1km away. Next day late morning I arrived at the airport and found that the toilets were two flight of stairs up in the boarding area. Imagine if you are travelling with cabin bags or prams. Zurich is an extremely expensive airport. Food options are extremely limited, so is duty free. Toblerone bars available at 10 pounds for 3 was available at more than double the price here. Overall, an airport which lacks character, no fun factor, too business like and unwelcoming! Avoid transiting thru this airport.

Through United we were booked onto a codeshare on Swiss that left from terminal E. What an awful terminal. No restaurants, unless you call Starbucks or a bar that sells baguette sandwiches a restaurant. You have to go through passport control and spend a long time to get here from the main terminal. Once here the only ready service, other than seats at the gate are bathrooms.

The WiFi service is complex and shows contempt for the customer. Even in the premium (Swissport-operated) lounges for First class all you get is 60 minutes, and they use a convoluted sign-in system that also requires you to sit through a commercial. If your flight is delayed, you're stuck and can't check status or rebook yourself. Absolutely out of touch with today's connected travelers. WiFi should be like water - turn on the tap, and it works. No sign-on, no limits. We pay enough airport taxes as it is. Do not recommend connecting here.

My wife and I received courteous service at Zurich Airport on our arrival and departure last summer, and again on our arrival and departure this summer. In general, this is a great airport with excellent options for ground transportation that include a sedan with driver. The airport had well-marked walking routes to Customs and on to Baggage Claim. There was an ATM conveniently located in the baggage claim area. Krystal Limousine of Luzern Switzerland transported us from one city to another on our 2-week stay, and returned us to the Zurich Airport. On our arrival a driver met us inside the airport right at the baggage carousel, and on our departure assisted us with our baggage all the way to the airline check-in counter. Our arrival a departure experiences at Zurich Airport this year and last year were smooth and pleasant and without problems.

The airport is great and spacious but a little bit dirty. Zurich airport has two observation decks and from there you have a nice view of the airport. At ZRH you can shop, plane spot, eat out, and you can also have an airport tour wich is cheap and fun. This one has two terminals, the first terminal includes the gates A, B, C, D the second includes the gates E. The internet connection is free and good.

Schengen flight. Mobile check-in. Very busy at the airport (rush-hour between 4pm-6pm) but had just 5-10 min waiting time at security check. Easy boarding. Free WIFI was working fast. Enough seats at the gate. Toilets clean as always. No problems at all. Needed just 25 minutes from airport train station to the gate.

Great airport. But I experienced unfriendly security staff. I was annoyed to be forced to walk through Duty Free shop (departure and arrival). The Wifi is not free.

A very modern airport, clean, airy, and not feeling busy or crowded because maybe designed to handle many more passengers than it actually does. Plenty of shops, but on the expensive side, as almost everything in Switzerland. Allows for fast transits, and very well served by the excellent Swiss railways. However, signing is sometimes confusing, toilets are scarce (but very tidy), and some parts of the airports are much warmer than others, where the air-conditioning works much better.

Zurich airport will now go into my list of the best airports I have been in. Connecting from the satellite terminal (international) to the main terminal was very easy, as was navigating throughout the terminal itself. The whole airport area was very clean and quite impressive from an architectural perspective. The airport itself is somewhat of a mini-city, with a supermarket, electronics store, Inter-City/Local train stations and many more amenities. Queuing times were not long and there was ample seating available with power outlets once inside the departures area, although power outlets are very scarce in the "city" area near the rail station/check-in area. Also, the observation deck on Terminal B was very nice and is an excellent place to spend some-time before clearing security and entering the main terminal. My main complaints for the airport are that it is expensive. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of money if you wish to buy some snacks/drinks, meals or souvenirs/items in Zurich. Also, you will need a working cellphone number or boarding pass to access the Wi-Fi at Zurich, which will only give you access to 1hr of free internet. After that, rates are quite steep. Also, if you are connecting from an international destination, be ready for some walking. All-in-all, Zurich was a very nice airport to be in, even for an 11hr stopover. Just be prepared to spend some money there and use the internet wisely.

The airport is efficient and well organised for transit. Transmitted twice in May on Swiss to and from NYC. Very unsatisfactory lounge no service untidy understaffed and no hot item for breakfast. Add to this are external toilets which are no better than public toilets. The worst lounge I have used in ten years. The Swiss Airlines flight experience was very good but let down by the lounge!
