"converted into a shopping mall"
Upul Liyanage (Australia)
✅ Verified Review | Sydney Airport is awful. No space or enough seats for passengers. Airport has been converted into a shopping mall. Had to stand and wait with young children. Ripping people with high parking charges and trolley charges.

"Sydney and its visitors deserve a better airport"
Peter Read (United Kingdom)
Sydney and its visitors deserve a better airport and experience than that currently on offer at the International terminal. Arriving from London on QF02 on morning of 8th December, numerous electronic passport machines were out of order. Conventional Passport entry took over 30 minutes in overcrowded facilities with undermanned Border Control desks. Even with this delay, baggage was by that time only dribbling onto the carousel in a completely undersized and crowded reclaim area. Another 20 minutes passed before my baggage appeared, and at that time a huge number of passengers were awaiting baggage. Facilities are grossly undersized for such an important international destination. Even Heathrow manages hetter than this.

"slipped massively in standards"
J Creek (Australia)
Really poor Wi-Fi connectivity at Sydney Airport. Difficult to get it working at all, and extremely slow speed. Substandard for an international airport. Also - no comfortable lounges / seats once through Customs. The airport has slipped massively in standards, and should immediately do something about the abysmal Wi-Fi.

"need to start running an airport that is customer-centric"
Alexander Lips (Australia)
Hopeless. Awful signage throughout the airport and an abysmal public pick-up system that is confusing, expensive and poorly signed. Everything from the parking to the food to the train link is severely overpriced. Management need to start running an airport that is customer-centric.

"airport security was chaotic"
R Minichiello (United Kingdom)
Positives first - staff seemed nice enough, flight info boards weren't broken. Negatives: Getting here by road is a nightmare with bad signage all the way, badly designed roads, most of the signage at the airport is wrong or absent. They recently moved most of the food outlets to before security. This is obviously a terrible idea because it encourages people to wait on the wrong side of security and then have to rush through it, as opposed to just clearing security and spending leisure time before the flight at the food outlets. Airport security was chaotic and it wasn't even busy when we went through. Once again I think they just need signs and better queue control.

"by far the worst airfield I've been to"
Daan Habraken (Netherlands)
By far the worst airfield I've been to. Because of an early flight to Dubai we arrived serveral hours before departure. This is because there was no public transport to get ther in time. Then we were told that the airport was going to close, got locked up in some area to wait until 3 am when the airfield was opening again. 10 chairs for 100 people is far too few!. Some cranky/grumpy security lady treated us like criminals when asking for passports and tickets. I'd recommend going to another australian airport if you have an option.

"never witnessed anything like it"
Stuart Oetegenn (United Kingdom)
Checked in at 3 am as instructed but security gates didn't open until after 4 am. Queue of folk left sleeping on the floor due to incompetence of airport control. Never witnessed anything like it in another airport in the world. Everything else about Australia was amazing including the people shame the airport can't be the same.

"extremely bad signage"
Chris Lyne (New Zealand)
The worst international airport I've experienced. Extremely bad signage for food areas. Shops outrageous prices and the food options poor and over priced a sandwich $18 and couldn't even get a coffee served in a cup only takeaway. Pity those travelling with children. No play area and poor meal options.

"shambolic, crowded disgrace"
Tony Holdgate (Australia)
✅ Verified Review | Shambolic, crowded disgrace. Selling Macquarie this airport was a stupid decision. It's a mess with terrible parking and shocking facilities. Long queues poor pa, expensive shops with no one in them. Goodness knows what visitors think of us.

"dangerous and chaotic best describes it"
Brett Handley (Australia)
I want to comment on the pick-up facilities at Sydney domestic terminal T2. Dangerous and chaotic best describes it. I have picked up family several times recently and each time its a complete mess. I know there is construction work happening but these comments are irrespective of that - and have applied for more that a year of experience now. The signage is hopeless. What is the difference between priority and express pick-up? Its clear no one knows because everyone is just simply all over the place. Why not just a simple T2 pick up area etc. And whats with the boom gates? They just slow things down - and many cars just stop when they get thru the gate and pick up right there - thus blocking everyone behind. There are lots of people walking down the road toward Link road - lost and confused and dangerous - some flag down their person to pick them up right there - adding to the chaos. And when you are out of the mess trying to find the road to head north over the harbour - forget it. All signs say Sydney south. As it happens this is the right road to take because it goes south and north - but hopeless? Really - does whoever design this mess actually use it? My ratings of the mandatory questions is based only on experience as a Qantas platinum flyer - but thats not what this review is about.
