This must be the most disgusting "International Airport" in the world. At all costs try and avoid the toilets as they are a health hazard. Overpriced food in the Departure lounge bad food at that! Very humid and uncomfortable 3 hour wait for our flight home we could not wait to get away as this airport departure lounge ruined the last day of our holiday. Will never go to this airport again unfortunately that means we will not return to Sharm.

Terminal 2 offered very poor facilities and the Duty Free shops were closed throughout the day without any explanation. The only hot food available was of a low standard and our meals were re-heated using a microwave. The overall service we received was the worst we have ever experienced in any airport.

Has to have the worst departure facilities of any "new" terminal. Our flight back was around 9pm on Friday night - check-in was fast security was ok even though there were multiple passport checks within feet of each other and they did not even look inside the passport - job for jobs sake. The departure lounge was just vile. The male toilets stank but at least no queue even though I was asked for money to get a paper towel to dry my hands by the toilet attendant on the other hand the female toilets had a massive queue and the smell which wafted out into the departure lounge was revolting. Truly disgusting. Duty Free - had 2 tills open and you could only pay in cash despite Visa signs so people were dumping their shopping then having to hand over their passport nip into arrivals get cash from ATM and then rejoin the massive queues - no receipts given and money just chucked into a box. Total sham - such as shame as this is one airport with plenty of seating. Avoid is possible - especially in the evening when its engulfed with Russian flights!

The most disgusting airport I have ever seen in my life. I would not let my child go to the toilet as it looked and smelt disease ridden. We complained about the filth to a worker and she told my sister to clean it if she doesn't like it. Tourists pump a lot of money in to this area so they really need to change things or they will lose their tourists which are their livelihood.

This is the worst airport I have ever had the displeasure of having to use and I have been to many some little more than tin sheds. Having spent an amazing week on the Red Sea where the crew could not have been more helpful and polite the airport came as a real shock. The staff were extremely rude and surly especially in the shops and restaurants. The food snacks and drink were a rip off.

Travelling through SSH was ok on the way in but the queue to get through security on the way back was ridiculous. 3 booths to deal with over 300 people and an ever growing queue due to a Russian 747. You then queue to get past a man who wants to see the passport that was just shown to passport control not 5 metres before. Talk about inventing jobs for jobs sake. No screens showing which gates to use and poor announcements. Travelled through this airport 3 years ago and the only improvement is the new terminal building.

Sharm is a typical 'Holiday resort' airport. Nothing fancy or flash. Plenty of seating and a few rather tacky souvenir shops. Bussed to waiting planes only a couple of hundred yards away. One man making all the tannoy announcements in broken English but very polite. Worst thing is that at one end of the waiting area is a large screened off Smoking area with TV screens and a bar. For some reason there is another unenclosed area at the other end of the terminal for nicotine addicts. It is foul and the smell permeates way beyond the designated area. Ideally there should be No Smoking at all but if there has to be then one enclosed area is more than enough!

Arrived from Doncaster to Sharm el Sheikh on 29th March. We arrived about 7pm and the airport was very clean and we had no trouble with any of the staff. We departed on 12th April and again we were flying late at 8pm the airport had obviously been busy all day but toilets and other areas were fine and standards were ok. I would advise you have plenty of Egyptian pounds as they do accept English pounds or Euros but do rip you off with the exchange rate.

Sharm el Sheikh T1. Arrival at 4.30 am direct from Heathrow. No air bridges disembarked with old fashioned steps and then bussed to the terminal several hundred meters away. Newish and smart looking terminal building. Visa counter on left hand side after escalators but before immigration. Although British tourists staying for less than 14 days and not travelling outside Sinai do not need a visa this is only true if flying directly to and from Sharm. If connecting via Cairo you will need to purchase a visa. Immigration quick and efficient but we were the first arrival of the morning. Five luggage carousels the info screen with flight numbers on number 4 didn't work - this was the one our luggage appeared on. Luggage arrived pretty quickly. Outward journey early morning departure for Cairo even though it was just 5am queues built up quickly for security prior to check in. Check-in would have been quick other than the fact I hadn't purchased a visa. Embarkation a little chaotic as several flights left within about 20 minutes of each other all using just two gates.

It is very depressing to see the same comments coming up on this site which indicates changes are not being made. The airport is pleasant in comparison with the old facilities 10 years ago but the malaise amongst some staff seems to be ingrained. Toilet facilities are not up to the job and are constantly blocked. The floors are filthy on the way out the young lad was pulling out paper towels from the dispenser in an effort to gain some sort of financial reward. I had a great holiday with good service the end of my holiday was tainted by this where I judged it more hygienic not to wash my hands and used my own wet wipe. This is not acceptable at an international airport.
