"not enough seating for all the passengers"

(Slovenia)

Terminal 1 at Paris CDG is terrible. It is a rounded building and elevator stairs are going in all directions. In a second you really do not know where to exit and where to go. It is quite confusing and would not recommend it. The waiting area after the check in and security is very basic, there is not enough seating for all the passengers, there is only one shop. If you arrive and you manage to navigate to the exit, there is a long corridor below the ground to the main terminal building of Terminal 1 where you get your luggage. Expect to walk a lot. I would not reccoment Terminal 1 at CDG Paris if you are traveling solo or a family. Terminal 2 - B and D are much better.

"layout of the airport is also difficult to navigate"

(United States)

Be warned - Paris CDG Airport has a broken baggage handling system. They do not track bags through this airport. Traveling with a group of 4 through this airport twice resulted in 5 of 8 bags lost. Because they do not scan baggage it is nearly impossible to know when your baggage will arrive until it is transferred to an airport that scans and tracks luggage. Helpful and apologetic employees admit that the system does not work, but can only guess when bags will arrive. The layout of the airport is also difficult to navigate, and we were required to travel in and out of security to reach connecting flights. This is a huge disadvantage when trying to make connecting flights. Talking to an airport employee near security we explained that we needed to reach our gate to make a flight. After looking at our flight time he flatly said we had no chance of making it. I would have thought an hour and a half lay-over would be sufficient to walk from one gate to another. Apparently at CDG things are different. The place was clean, there was lots of shopping, and the free WiFi worked. It is not all horrible, but the primary purpose of an airport is to help you and your belongings get you from one place to another. In that respect this airport has failed.

"staff were very pleasant"

(United Kingdom)

Having flown out of Paris CDG years ago and been far from impressed, I wasn't looking forward to a lengthy transit on my way to/from South America. Terminal 2E, Zone K turned out to be grand, although with most of the shops being upmarket and overpriced, a comfortable seat and a good book was preferable for me. Security was quick and staff were very pleasant, but it was the first time I ever had to take off my money belt where my passport normally stays and was rather anxious about losing it. Having seen the shops, the food court was surprisingly more down-to-earth (its location out of sight on the first floor probably reflecting this.) Toilets in the terminal were rather crowded - if you want to freshen up after a long haul flight, avail of the ones in the transit lounge which are much bigger.

I travelled between Paris and Manchester. Air France staff nowhere to be seen. No signage indicating gate or even where to queue, it was a shambles. People everywhere trying to get directions. However my long haul flight with Emirates was a breeze. Helpful staff, easy to find gate and flight information. Maybe I got Air France on a bad day.

Paris CDG Airport customer review

Been at Paris fairly recently for a transatlantic flight on United. United, that means the good old Terminal 1, with its fancy escalators that give a certain spirit to this terminal. My experience at the check-in counter was excellent: all the counters were empty, just waiting for me. I've never waited more than a couple of minutes at the check-in anyway. Guess it's because of the low amount of flights processed at the hours I had my flights. But here comes the critic: The border agents are never nice. Been at CDG dozen of times, and I have never had a single agent smiling, nor even replying to my "Hello" and "Goodbye". This is really where the red flag raises. Besides that, I passed the security within seconds, which was nice. They even closed that security lane because nobody was coming a few moments after I passed. The amount of shops airside is pretty low and disappointing. Guess there should be some improvements on that. Overall, Paris airport is an airport Ii'm pleased to go through when I need to.

Paris CDG Airport customer review

(Australia)

The airport is beautiful and one of the best I've been to, but Etihad Airways staff service the worst I have received anywhere. Prior to our Etihad Airways flight to Abu Dhabi, the airport staff were standing there laughing, phones out, blunt to customers while customers were asking questions. As I went through the boarding gate, I said hello and thank you to the Etihad Airways person scanning the tickets. She said nothing whatsoever and didn't even smile.

Although the airports features are beautiful, the transiting system and terminals are set out in a fairly silly manner. Once you enter your terminal area you can not leave to go eat or shop. Inside the terminal area there is a very small variety of shopping or "time wasting" type activities to do, other than the main activity of sitting in gate style seating. The Terminal area is quite large and open mainly because there are no shops filling the space, the benefit to this is that queuing for your flight is no so bad and the time to board aircraft is good. Airport WIFI is limited to 15-30 minutes free until you have to pay.

Paris CDG Airport customer review

(Canada)

Unlike most of the reviews I have seen about Paris CDG, I have nothing but positive things say about the airport. Flew CDG to Toronto out of terminal 2E and have to say that aside from the long line ups, my experience was great. I have travelled through most western European airports, not one of them is nearly as nice as CDG's 2E. Maybe I feel this way because the YYZ in Toronto is horrible, but in my opinion CDG (at least terminal 2E and 2F) is the best airport I have visited.

Paris CDG Airport customer review

(United States)

Awful experience through terminal 2E. No clear system for processing 4 Delta flights to the US at the same time this morning. Only 4 Air France agents processing passengers who waited in line for almost two hours before even being able to check bags. It was even more egregious that the situation was made worse trying to get through border control - again a lack of interest by staff and not enough agents to process the 100s of people trying hard not to miss flights. As a result, flights had to be delayed because so many passengers were caught in this situation. I'm giving one star for each of the categories below because there was no option to give zero!!

Paris CDG Airport customer review

(Indonesia)

First impression of the exterior of the airport was good. Then comes the check in counter, I had to wait around 45 minutes in a long queue just to check in. We were 7 people traveling with two elderly people. After check in, we were planning to have some breakfast in the food area, but we decided to go through immigration first. We had to wait in a very long queue for 1 hour or more. There were only three counters open with hundreds of passengers waiting. After immigration, we had a long walk towards the boarding gate. We did not have any time to spare. We passed the security check near the boarding gate at the time boarding should have started. Then came another queue, exiting the boarding gate. We had to go down to a bus, travel to the edge of the airport. We had no time to have breakfast and the flight was delayed 30 minutes.
