A big improvement from the old airport but displays many signs of lack of common sense so typical in India. Why did they not think big and make it bigger? It is already crowded and the average immigration counter line is 25 people long. The walk from the plane to immigration is very long and escalators only cover 1/3 the distance. How ridiculous. As for wifi less said the better. No Indian airport has free wifi. One should be able to log-on without the need to own a cell phone. This makes no sense. Overall a big improvements but falls short on many important comforts one expects from a modern airport.

Flew from Madurai-Mumbai-Nairobi. The transfer to new T2 terminal was decent and quick. The new international terminal is excellent. Not many queues anywhere. Everything was smooth. A lot of restaurants and coffee shops. Would definitely recommend.

Drastic change from the previous International terminal. I can easily rate it better than Changi or Incheon. Efficient stunning architecture and expansive. Points that should be improved: 1) Car parking area should be made more secure something fishy about the way they collect charges without issuing receipts and seemingly notorious people deployed in that area - this should be checked on an urgent basis. 2) Lack of Coach services from Airport to main city hotels/imp city landmarks as is expected in all International airports. 3) A visible kiosk for travellers / tourists for city access.

This airport has plenty of pros and cons. I was visiting India for two weeks with a group of friends flew in here from Newark on 23 June and flew out early on 5 July. Flying in was relatively painless. It was a bit hot inside the terminal but considering that this is India that's to be expected. At least the terminal does have AC. Passport control and customs were fairly efficient and the wait to get our bags wasn't that bad either. My only complaint would be the wifi. More on that later. So overall this looked like a pretty good airport flying in. Very beautiful terminal nice staff short lines. Seems like a decent airport. Flying out is where this airport can turn into a nightmare if you're not prepared. If you're planning on flying out of this airport have a copy of your flight itinerary on you or you won't even be allowed in the front door. Also if security decides to do a 'random' screening on you expect to get delayed by 30-45 minutes. Also be warned that this airport does have a second security screening at the gate. After security though the shopping selection is amazing. However the wifi here is practically useless. Sure it's there but it's very poorly thought out. First off it requires you to enter your mobile number as a login. Then you have to enter a security code which the system will text to your mobile number in order to connect. This defeats the purpose of 'free' wifi if you ask me. Anyway the system is likely broken as I used 3 different numbers with international texting and did not receive a text from the system. In the end I just gave up. Pros: Short lines Spectacular terminal Nice staff Great shopping selection Good signage. Cons: Bumbling and bureaucratic security. Second security check at gate. Unusable wifi also wifi that expects international travelers to have international coverage effectively defeating the purpose.

Stunning terminal. Flew in and out in May 2014 and just arrived on June 20th. Have travelled extensively all over US Canada and Europe. Just finished a million flown miles on United and have flown into most Western airports numerous times. Shopping is very good in Mumbai both duty free and others. Art work in the airport is stunning. Both times customs and bags took very little time. Today the bags were on the carousel when I got there. Very efficient and thorough service. Yes I did the transfer from domestic. It is a bit of a hassle and that is why they are building the domestic pier. Did not experience the mosquito issue. Spent 6 hours last month waiting at T2. Overall great experience. Will continue to use this airport and enjoy the art work.

Fly out of Mumbai maybe once or twice a month from terminal 1B which is domestic departures for Jet and Indigo. Check in desks are inadequate for both airlines during peak hours as are the security check counters. Recently on a non peak hour flight to Jodhpur at 12pm there was no place to sit so obviously it is working over capacity. However it still seems to function okay as none of my departures have been delayed. Transfers to the plane are tedious sometimes due to the non existent aero-bridges and the buses queuing up sometimes gets confusing.

Only seen in the pictures before we landed at CSIA on March 31st. Couldn't believe that the terminal actually looks much better than in the pictures. Excellent facilities very efficient airport very neat and clean airport. Were out of immigration customs and baggage claim areas in less than 30 minutes! Departure on April 21st was even smoother. Overall very pleasant experience.

This was a totally different experience to landing at the old airport. Apart from the spectacular architecture and art installations the people were great! I had a drink and a snack at one of the departure F&B outlets and it was great. This airport has cell phone charging stations with at least 9 different power adapters free internet on new workstations power outlets for laptops comfortable seating cleaning services and beautiful indoor horticulture. Don't be afraid of mosquitoes use this airport.

Flew from Vadodara (BDQ) to catch a plane to Amsterdam. It had been only couple of days since the new terminal opened. The building and facility may be new but the personnel occupying the facility and hence the service remains the same - pathetic. The security staff outside the airport are not strong enough to dissuade people from photographing or smoking (especially the "foreigners"). Went through an extremely slow security check only to find myself stuck in a never ending customs/immigration lineup. Even after having over 30 immigration counters (half of them were unmanned) the number of counters as well as the efficiency of customs official is not sufficient to handle the out-flowing crowd. Most of the people in crowd were in verge of missing their flight. The airport authorities must be already aware of the backlog created due to all international flights departing at almost same time before the commissioning this airport - yet unable to fix this flaw. I almost made it to the departure gate half an hour before flight only to find another security checkup before boarding the plane. The flight got delayed by an hour. There is only one washroom in a large expanse of departure gates. And out of the only two toilets only one is WC. Compare that to Schiphol Amsterdam that has washrooms every 30 m. This airport has a long way to go before it can be called international standard. Having a great architecture does not necessarily result into traveller convenience.

After traveling through quite a few countries in the last few months the new international T2 terminal of the Mumbai airport seemed extremely impressive at first. It is a great architectural feat with very impressive interior deco and a collection of artwork that almost makes it look like a museum. The toilets were also quite clean. The transfer from the international to the domestic is a nightmare with exceptionally long and slow-moving security lines. Also if you are not flying Jet Airways or Indian Airlines you have to go out and take a taxi to the domestic terminals because the other domestic airlines haven't bothered to set up counters in the international arrivals area and the security there doesn't let you transfer without checking in your luggage first. The behavior and attitude of security officials is usually horrible. I arrived at a less busy time - which meant that at least the immigration was smooth. My general advice to you if flying to a second destination in India is to avoid the Mumbai airport and fly through Delhi instead - until Mumbai T2 is able to sort out its teething problems.
