Luton Airport customer review

Luton airport in my personal experience is not fit for purpose. Luton is very poorly sign-posted. It is extremely difficult to approach from the M1 and the Management of the airport appear to have made no attempt to recognise and deal with the difficulties. Equally there are competing parking firms one of which appears to be the official on-line firm for the main car park it is not. It appears that many people pay this other firm online arrive at the airport and then have to pay the top rate at the official car park. My flight cost about £ £100 the combined parking cost nearly £150. So do not use Luton airport until the management fix their amateur sign posting and prevent 'scam' parking schemes.

Airport is difficult to get to. Airport parking and airport shops are incredibly expensive in comparison to equivalent BAA facilities i.e. Stansted and other UK airports. Biggest problem at Luton airport is the constant bombardment of people conducting surveys. These individuals often pretend to be airport officials and give the impression that you do not have any option but to respond to their questions. I try to avoid this airport now. Heathrow and Stansted is much more user friendly.

The airport that loves queues! I travel a lot for work and Luton is by far the worst airport In the UK everywhere you go there are more queues to join whether you want a coffee or the toilet join the queue! A terrible airport experience.

Security staff needlessly ungracious and rude. I don't know why the security person decided that my transparent liquids bag wasn't suitable despite the fact that it has been half way around the world through numerous security checks. It's a beaten up clear plastic bag that is perhaps a centimetre too big however it only ever has two things in it and clearly unless you are out to sell a replacement plastic bag as a punishment should cause no one any grief at all. The jobsworth on security made me throw my plastic bag away. To the management at Luton try and remember your travelling public are your customers and we have a choice. I haven't flown out of Luton before and I won't again.

Overall it is an ugly eyesore but perfectly functional and fairly easy to use. Could be a lot worse. Generally a good airport. Food not bad the breakfast baps are good but horrendously expensive food us a minus point here! We are not made of money.

I travel a lot. I see many Airports. Luton is one of the worst. It is clear that the Owners and its Management know this. 'Which' rated it recently the worst airport in the UK and the reviews posted here are nearly all negative. Yet nothing changes. For those who want to see things improve I suggest that pressure should be put on the airlines that use Luton most like Easyjet. Were Easyjet to even threaten to withdraw from Luton Airport I suspect the Owners/Management might respond. They do not have to care about the likes of us passengers/customers. We are captive inconveniences. You fly from Luton because you have to you do not choose to do this. You wouldn't if you could choose but the airlines can and do. You choose the airlines you travel on so let them know that you would like to omit Luton airport from your travel plans till such time that it improves its facilities and the treatment of people who use it.

Oh deary me what a load of moaning minnies. The annual trip on holiday and they are up in arms about what they perceive as ghastly service standards from before they even step into the airport to when they have left. Oh and don't forget to grouse about coming back into Luton. Sadly despite all of that - yup - they will be back next year to have another crack at it and forget completely what they really should have learned and remembered the previous year. Hats off to Luton in 2014 - yes its a very fine airport operation these days - as good as most 10M passenger throughput airports - and far better than most. Secrets to make getting through faster and easier? Of course I have mine so let the moaners moan and just accept there all always people who create their own issues through not reading the paperwork or choosing to ignore it and then go looking for other 'problems'.

We flew to Arrecife Lanzarote 3rd April via Ryanair. Despite the fact that we arrived at the 2 hr-before-flight- time recommended the queues at check-in desks were building fast. There were quite a few people who obviously had overweight bags and were being asked to adjust them. This seemed only to be happening at the Ryanair desks. Other adjacent C/I desks were moving at the normal rate. The flight was delayed by half an hour due to arguments and under-manning at the C/I stage. Although this is probably a regular feature when flying with Ryanair it should be discouraged by the airport authority as it leads to passenger stress potential rudeness to C/I staff and loss of revenue in the departure lounge and shops because passengers are denied any time to have a pre-flight break. Oh and the passenger drop-off fee of £2 whilst small is a cheek I think.

By far the worst airport I have experienced. Sadly it is often the most convenient for European visits. £2 for a Taxi drop off too far from the departures building. Then you have to pay for a trolley both going and upon your return. I dread what our overseas visitors think about that. £2 for the legally specified sized plastic bags to hold the regulation sized toothpastes / cosmetics face creams etc or else you will not be travelling. Then the chaos of the departure shopping mall. Minimum seating impossible departure signage almost invisible by neon screaming at you to come in and buy buy buy. Not a clock to be seen anywhere. Returning causes more anxiety it is not unusual for your baggage to take over an hour to appear on the carrousel shabby and miserable. To get a taxi for onward travel requires a pre arranged booking which is dodgy because you need to take into account the delayed baggage problem and heaven help you if it is raining and usually it does because you have the long trek to find the cab and again pay for a trolley and the £2 to release the cab from the car park.

Worst airport in Europe! I have been commuting around all big airports in Europe in the last few years. Flying 2-3 times a week. London Luton airport is by far the worst airport. Especially the people at the security checks are unbelievably rude and unprofessional. Shouting at passengers the entire time like they are inmates of a max security prison.
