Luton Airport customer review

Charging to drop people off is unacceptable. Sure charge for those that linger in the drop off area too long but Luton Airport how do you honestly justify charging £2 for pulling up outside the terminal and unloading your friends and their luggage in less than 5 minutes? No other airport I have ever used rips travellers off like this.

Luton Airport customer review

Luton airport security is a shambles. Be warned long queues causing passengers to miss their flights. The airport is not taking responsibility for long queues - they must know the volumes of expected passengers and when peak times are and are not providing enough facilities to cope. They should inform the airlines to tell their passengers to allow more time. Easyjet say if you've checked in online arriving 40 mins before a flight is sufficient time when it clearly is not especially for early morning flights. Airport treatment of travellers who have missed flights having turned up on time is appalling - no customer care no help provided. The whole Luton experience is extremely poor.

Nice little airport spoilt by just a few things. I would like to see drop off directly outside the terminal not everyone is up to the walk from the car park drop off points. Beware of the duty free shop it's one big rip off. There is no Duty Free within the EEC and you will pay tax on what is already overpriced goods. Whisky priced £39.99 plus hidden tax of £8.00. Same drink at Malta £31 Euro. Beware.

Luton Airport customer review

I have been flying to and from Munich every 3-4 months for the past 6 years normally from Stansted or Gatwick. I was pleased to see that easyjet had introduced a new Luton-Munich route last November. For me Luton is only 30 minute train journey. I never did understand why the 'London' Airports had such long departure/arrival queues compared to other European Airports so I booked my next Munich trip from Luton. The outward Journey was on time and the arrival into Munich was smooth and efficient. The return to Luton was a nightmare - after touch down there was a delay in getting off the plane the cabin crew explained that as we had arrived ahead of schedule and ground staff were not really expecting us! Eventually we entered the Terminal Building then a long brisk walk and bang! Suddenly to the back of a horrendous looking queue (EU Nationals) the Non-EU Nationals happily breezed passed us on the Left at speed only to find that further down the line (30 minutes later) both queues merged together! I then notice a printed sign that warned of a '30 minutes delay from this point' and I hear a pre- recorded announcement advising of delays. I pointed to the sign and asked a nearby police officer which part of the joke I missed he advised that 30 minutes is an underestimate he noticed that I had an ePassport and suggested a duck/dive/shove/push/jump/limbo route that halved the time. Maybe an earlier sign that reads 'ePassport holders this way' would have been nice. Eventually I am through ready to sprint to the shuttle bus because I know that if I don't get the 9.50pm train to Wellingborough from Parkway I will miss the last bus home. Wait I haven't re-claimed by bag yet the motionless conveyor belt was full with the previous flights luggage stacked on the floor. I boarded my train and collapsed with relief as the whistle was blown and the doors started to close.

Very surprised at the negative reviews about London Luton. I have a choice between Birmingham and Luton to fly to Dublin and have chosen Luton most of the time because it's that bit closer. It's not a pretty airport but it's easy to use and I totally disagree regarding the staff they have been some of the nicest (and consistently so!) of any airport I've used especially going through security without exception they have all been beyond friendly and helpful. Food choices are not bad and the facilities are generally clean. On the down side the gate I've mostly used Gate 15 is not great with only a few seats for a full plane load of passengers. In the general concourse too there are not enough seats unless you decide to use one of the restaurants or cafes. And you need a bus to get to the train station long term car parks and the car hire centre. But that can be expected at a lot of airports. Luton doesn't have the big airlines or traffic of the other London airports so I guess it hasn't had the same ability to develop top class facilities but it has always been a pleasant experience arriving or departing every time I've used it. I think some people leaving reviews should bear in mind that at Luton they're boarding airlines like Easyjet Ryanair and Wizzair. It's not the golden age of flying and we're not boarding Constellations to cross the Atlantic. This is Luton Airport with low cost airlines and they've done a great job each and every time I've gone through.

I viewed this site after travelling through Luton Airport and am somewhat relieved to see that I am not the only person who thinks that it's a dump ! I've been using the airport for many years but after what seems to be a steady decline in appearance service and actually getting to the airport I now only use it when all other options are limited. I find the parking facilities amongst the worse of probably any airport I've ever used. Why I have to navigate through traffic in the drizzle (no covered walkways in this climate?) in a sort of zig zag towards the terminal. I now use Stanstead (though that's got its own issues) instead but prefer Heathrow for its ease of access and easy parking.

Luton to Reykjavik and return. The parking area is poor but the transfer bus was good the only saving grace about this place. The check-in was fine but the departure lounge was overcrowded. Security was a joke queues everywhere. On exiting the departure lounge for our flight we discovered there are no toilets before getting on the plane. The one we found back in the departure area was disgusting. On our return we had to wait on the tarmac to get to customs / immigration. The room itself as with departure facilities are totally inadequate. If you are flying from Luton and can find a better option take it. This place fails on all manner of things. Parking security toilets space and above all cleanliness.

I agree with other reviewers that there is a bit of grubbiness about the place. Staff were nice though. My advice is don't give yourself any extra time if using this airport - straight in and out.

Chaotic drab disinterested staff dirty facilities. Long walks to gates up and down stairs only to walk across the tarmac to climb stairs into a plane. Other small airports have far better facilities than Luton.

Dirty and inefficient with rude staff. We queued for one hour to get through security and passport control. Aspire lounge is horrible. Limited food and with a very downmarket feel about the place. Dirty worn out chairs with stains on them. Luton Airport is a crowded grubby and unpleasant place to start any trip.
