London Stansted Airport

I write this from Stansted airport which is truly awful. The reason is very simple: it is understaffed badly- planned and disorganised. Passport control took 45 minutes which added to our delayed easyjet flight to invalidate our tickets on easybus. Horrendous.

Traveled through airport on 28th March en-route to Ercan check in staff pleasant also it was a breeze going through security security staff who we had contact with were helpful and pleasant. Slight delay when coming through Immigration owing to the number of passengers.

Dreadful queues at passport control and held like cattle in hot airless tunnels. Loner waiting at passport control than the flight! Its a joke. What a bad first impression of UK this makes to foreign visitors.

Arrived at Stansted at 23.40 last night. It took 2 hours to get through passport border control and to my car. We were all held in hot stuffy corridors which was unacceptable. The elderly and young were suffering in the heat. No staff or water was available and had there been an incident it would have been difficult for help to get through. There were annoying announcements about waiting but no real information. This also happened in February. I believe it is purely created by security staff at airport to get enough complaints to get their grievances sorted out.

This used to be a nice airport but it is now a money grabbing joke. You can't drop off/pick up near the terminal without paying a fortune there is a free area but not well sign-posted if you don't know it in advance you end up paying. The road that separates all the bus and paid parking zones in a dangerous joke. The new scanning machines into security do keep queues down until you get in there and most x-ray machines aren't open and staff are rude as usual not enough chairs to put all your stuff back on after. The departure lounge is too small it looks like a refugee camp most of the time less shops more chairs please and the info screens are too small. On arrivals the passport control area is a joke. The other day there was one member of staff to meet all passengers off the tram and direct everyone possible to automated machines which she then had to supervise. There are only 5 machines one wasn't working and the rest rejected on average 50%. Forget arriving on a non EU passport. My girlfriend is American with UK rights and had to queue for 35 mins just to get to see someone who asked no questions at all. I'll be avoiding this where possible rather go to Gatwick which has improved or better still Southend which will take a lot of their business I hope. Stansted is not a relaxing start or end to your trip.

I used to fly regularly from this airport around ten years ago. But no more. This is now a disgusting airport. Thousands of departing passengers herded like cattle in the terminal waiting for their gates to be shown. It resembles a refugee camp. Nowhere to sit at busy times. I never want to fly from here again.

Disgraceful long lines yesterday for Passport Control. When I asked why I was told it was all those Europeans using Identity cards! For information to the managers most of their passengers come from the EU. Awful we were held inside one of the tunnels. It was hot and many felt faint. They don't allow animals to be treated like that!

Great airport but what have they done with the car parking? It appears you can no longer drop off passengers outside the terminal but have to use one of the car parks. The signs on the one way road accessing the car parks is terrible making it very difficult to find where your supposed to park whilst driving. I can only assume this is another money-making scheme to increase profits! This morning it cost me £2.80 for 3 minutes! I didn't even park up just dropped off passengers. It used to be simple and quick to drop off at Stansted Now they've made it difficult and costly! This almost amounts to obtaining money by deception in my opinion.

Dreadful staff behaviour today. Everyone was treated like cattle staff were rude and sneering to passengers and queues at security were dreadful. New security is terrible why they need to do anything with it no one knows. Probably to make room for those nano scanner. Witnessed passages ask for directions to security staff mocked him. After waiting 20 mins I put my bag in the tray and was shouted at and told to put it the other way round and at the same time told to take my shoes off. The bag fitted perfectly well in the box. Another woman was exceptionally rude to me and dived in my bag normal procedure is to allow the passenger to open it. Stansted is becoming London's Nasty Airport. Will be so glad to see the back of this backwater in March when Ryanair stop flying. Back to my car and the ferry for me!

You know its bad when you spend longer in the queue for passport control then your actual flight duration! I'm a frequent flier across the UK and I can honestly say Stansted is my least favourite airport and I actually dread flying into it. Border control is manic and so unorganised its a disgrace. This Sunday it took me well over an hour simply to get through border control. My plane landed and we joined the queue then as another 2 planes landed the passengers from those planes were able to bypass half of the passengers from my flight and join the queue at any point they could squeeze themselves in- ultimately leading to a crush situation in one corridor. The airport staff moving the queue along were doing so 10 people at a time and with 3 flights you can imagine how slow this meant we moved. With no apology or explanation for the delay - I'm all for national security but there was no queue if you were a non EU resident and a whopping huge one for EU and UK passport holders!
