The whole LBI customer experience is shocking. Had airplanes been invented earlier I would describe this a 19th century airport operating in the 21st century - absolutely incompetent. Our plane arrived on time - no steps available. Bus trip from plane to terminal - a magical mystery tour. Immigration - only 6 desks which was clearly insufficient for the number of aircraft using the terminal at the time. Baggage reclaim - an absolute joke - 7 flights on just one carousel - it took 50 mins to reclaim two bags. Overall it took me almost 2 hours to clear the airport almost half the time it took to fly back from Tenerife and had to pay £12.50 for the car parking rather than £2. I live 30 mins from the airport but will be taking my business to Manchester. I recommend the management team to visit this to see how a real airport is run.

This is our first flight from here and it will be our last. The tone is set when you are tricked into the drop off zone and find you have to go into short term parking and have to pay to get out. This must be the only airport in the world where this happens. The lay out at check in and from there to security is amateur and involves barging through other queues. The queue for bag drop is longer than old fashioned conventional check in and the staff were exceptionally slow. It just gets worse from there. Back to Manchester next time - easier to get to and it feels like a professional airport not Noddyland.

Dreadful experience. Was flying to Palma early morning. Was using on site car park. Was not aware of courtesy bus so decided to drop wife and luggage at drop off point and then park. Drop off point non existent - half the parking at the front of the terminal was closed off. As I was already committed to going that way and was not allowed to turn around - had to go in short stay and pay for then privilege. Still had to drag luggage up lots of stairs. Left wife at terminal and parked car. Courtesy bus came but was full - driver said another one was coming - waited 10 minutes - didn't show so decided to walk - very long walk and bus never came all the time I walked to the terminal. The terminal is cramped and not pleasant at all. When called to the gate there was no guidance as to where to go on leaving the building and it would have been very easy to get on the wrong plane. On return it was very cold and windy and the queue for the courtesy bus was enormous - mainly because the bus was so small.

Having read up on the airport I thought I would have an easy first experience on the first time I was using it for an early morning flight to Milan. Unfortunately despite arriving there pre-checked in and an hour and a half before the flight was due to take off security was so overloaded and incompetent that 4 of us failed to make the gate on time. The only positive to come out of it was that the airport agreed to pay for a taxi to Manchester airport although not for the extra £110 flight charge not any compensation for the time wasted (best part of a day). Will not be using here again my advice would be to give it at least 2 hours just to get through security longer if you need to check in.

I don't enjoy flying at all and I'm a resident of Horsforth on the border of the airport so it made sense to use LBIA. I won't be repeating the experience. The flying part (with jet2) was actually very good. The airport staff were rude and obnoxious. I have not experienced anything like it. They treat people like cattle. shouting and tutting and herding us. And I was not being slow moving. The man who saw me through the X-ray area was a disgrace to the airport. There is absolutely no need for their behaviour. I boarded my plane and went on holiday. On the return journey coming through Malaga I paid particular attention to their manner of dealing with their customers. They behaved beautifully. No one was shouted at or humiliated. The Spanish staff were courteous. I suggest the LBIA staff learn how to conduct themselves in their duties in a manner similar to Malaga staff. I will be joining the local residents in their fight to stop LBIA expanding.

This airport continues to find new ways of driving Customers away. Increased taxi drop off fees and very slow security checks make the longer journey times to Manchester and even travelling over M62 / M60 a much better option.

I have had the misfortune to be at Leeds Bradford for the last two Wednesday evenings. I am there for a flight to Dublin but there are also two weekly flights to Islamabad one of which is a Wednesday. This is a big plane with lots of passengers and there are of course other fights scheduled for a Wednesday evening. Why then do they have only one security conveyor belt open - both weeks manned by rude and surly security staff. I stood this week for 40 minutes whilst airport staff/maintenance staff/air crew etc elbow their way to the front of the queue and grind the whole process to a halt. I often work in Leeds but will be getting the train to Manchester in future.

We registered for disabled assistance for my wife. The assistance on our return was excellent with a wheelchair waiting for her at the aeroplane door with two pleasant and efficient staff members. Two days before the flight I sent a message via their online contact form advising that we had booked assistance that we would be arriving by taxi at c.4.50am (at this time of the morning journey time from home is eminently predictable) and asking how we should implement the requested assistance. We did not receive the courtesy of a reply so we were left completely in the dark. LBA do not allow taxis other than Arrow to drop passengers even disabled passengers - at the terminal door. This is obviously nothing to do with security and everything to do with maximising revenue by trying to steer passengers to using Arrow. We were therefore dumped in the car park by our taxi with no idea what to do next. We had two options: 1. For me to walk the 200 yards to the terminal and then walk to the far end where the KLM desk is situated ask for assistance and then walk back to the car park. This would necessitate leaving my wife with our luggage standing in the car park at 4.50am on a January morning with no shelter. 2. help my wife to walk to the check-in desk while carrying our luggage. We obviously had no choice but to go for option 2. This makes a nonsense of requesting disabled assistance. LBA charge for taxis to drop passengers in the car park and charge taxis for collecting passengers. They also even charge for luggage trolleys. We used Arrow taxis on our previous visit. Never again.

The terminal is poorly laid out with stairs everywhere. Flying to Dublin is particularly poor with customers having to queue in stairwells where the building doesn't look finished. The bar/ restaurant upstairs can > not cope with the number of customers when it is busy the tables were dirty when we were there with long queues to get served. This is our nearest airport so we have to keep on using it - much room for improvement. The website for the airport is in denial about the reality of the place. Security works well one of the better aspects.

I flew out and back this week and on both departure and arrival had an excellent experience. Check-in and security were very speedy with no queues. On time departure and arrival for Jet2 flights. Arriving back we had a quick walk to arrivals where customs arrived as we came up the escalator and baggage was there in less than 5 minutes. From exiting the plane to getting out of the car park was no more than 15 minutes! We'll done LBA.
