Kiev Borispol Airport

In 2013 it was perfect (if you were hungry it was terrible because there was just nothing). In 2014 it became more busy but still quiet fast. In 2015 the airport became terrible. At the entrance are lines (5 to 10 minutes) at check in there are big lines (20 to 40 minutes). At bag check there is a line (10 to 15 minutes). At customs is a huge line (30 minutes to 1 hour). So 2 hours before you must be there and you will be exactly in time to directly board your plane.

I found transiting through Terminal D to be quick easy and efficient. The terminal is clean modern and easy to use - but is also clearly still a work in progress with limited shopping options (though more seem to on the way) and even more limited food options. The shopping options are slightly better at the higher gate numbers than at the lower gate numbers but the food options are poor at both ends. While there are recharging stations for mobile devices a few seat-side plug sockets to facilitate laptop use would be welcome given the lack of things to do. For all the ease of use and modernity of the existing facilities the lack of food and entertainment means I wouldn't want a layover of more than a couple of hours.

The airport serves its purpose it is purely functional - hop on and off the plane effectively without crowds queues and unnecessary idling. All the facilities are shining with cleanliness. Free wi-fi a number of sockets available to charge your phone. Do not expect anything more prices in the few shops available are through the roof (even for Western Europe standards not mentioning the usual Ukrainian price level) and the offer in the shops is surprisingly poor. Airport staff sometimes struggles with English. Great airport for those who expect just to fly on time not the entertainment and additional service.

I have been transferring here twice coming in from Frankfurt to go on to Dubai and back. Terminal D is very spacious has lots of shopping options but only few possibilities to have snacks (two small cafés that are more expensive than having a snack on the plane). The signage is good the ways from arrival to departures gates is short and the security control was fast without long lines. The seating capacity within the security area is good as well and announcements are made in different languages most times also the native language of the destination country.

Not an overly flashy airport but for what it lacks in bells and whistles it makes up for in efficiency. The staff may seem rather cold and quiet at first but that's just the norm in Ukraine. Cleared both passport control (on the way in) and security (on the way out) in under 5 minutes. Check-in was a bit slower but that's because we didn't know the airport only allows one carry-on bag per passenger. As others have mentioned there isn't a lot of shopping here but the free wifi makes up for that especially since it doesn't have a time limit.

Not sure why everyone's making bad comments about Kiev airport I visit at least twice a month from the UK and I think its one of the best terminals around sure you have to understand the Ukraine character and be forceful and as rude as they are to you but that's the way to get things done here. But I like the people so stop moaning your a guest in their country when you visit.

Oh dear a shiny new terminal (D) with minimum facilities both landside and airside. Don't expect to be able to have anything substantial to eat before your flight although the airline lounges did appear to promise more than a snack (but then you would need to pay extra).

This review is form Terminal D only as I was transferring through it. The terminal is new is very clean but lacking in facilities. One small kiosk with minimal stock to drink but especially to eat. Not enough chairs around gates. Staff at transfer desk were very rude and seemed uninterested in customer care. One person refused to serve anyone even though the queue for boarding passes was long and filled with irate passengers afraid of missing their onward connection.

Lovely new Terminal D. Beautifully clean. Moved quickly from check-in through passport control. Huge drawback was the Terminal had no bars or shops once past security. No coffee shops no restaurant no bar no convenience kiosk - nothing. Travelled in November 2012.

Terrible customer service. My mom had her luggage missing since Amsterdam her layover before her final destination in Kiev. Lots of passengers had lost their luggage to in the layover. When she arrived she had to wait three hours in line to speak to someone and give information to send her luggage to. They gave her a number to call for any questions or in case of anything. At first they said they could deliver it to her at midnight so we waited till then. Next day we tried calling the number they gave us. A woman answers and connects us to another person to talk to. While waiting on the other phone call no one answers we wait for fifteen minutes or more and on ever picks up. Such liars in connecting us to no one who can even help. Finally she got a hold of someone through another way. They said they would deliver it sometime today. They would call us when it would come. We have waited all day had no phone calls and every time we call the number they ga ve us no ones picks up when a women connects us to somewhere else. Terrible customer service. When I leave Ukraine it will be the last time I come here. Do not have your bags go missing cause its either lost somewhere or they take a long time to give it to you.
