"treated like cattle"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | I had the misfortune to travel through Jeddah Airport during my recent Umrah trip to Saudi. It was by far the worst airport experience of my life. You are treated like cattle, several flights leaving at the same time through the same gate. No respect for the elderly, no provisions for mothers with babies. Nowhere to sit, infact nowhere to stand. The bus ride to the plane takes forever. I maybe travelling again very soon but will choose an alternative airport and airline. Steer clear of Jeddah.

"might be the worst airport in the world"

(United States)

Not Verified | This might be the worst airport in the world. They still use buses to get into the airport and expect family members to come down from an airplane and to go up the steps. My son is autistic and 4, it's really hard to travel with him and they definitely don't make it easier. The bus ride from the plane can be about 30 minutes if they decided that the plane is in the hajj terminal. On top of that the actual airport has 5 gates catering to maybe 20 flights. We had a 7 hour stay and couldn't even find seats. The first class lounge is only for first class customers and normal customers can't even pay. Please stay away from traveling on Saudia it's not worth it at all. Even if you have to pay 10 times the cost please do so. Staying at the airport is literally hell. Also we are in 2018 and they don't even have free WIFI. I came from Pakistan and they had a better airport than Jeddah.

"They completely lack organization"

(Egypt)

Trip Verified | Absolutely the most horrible airport I have been in. They completely lack organization. The departure screens reflect incorrect information about flights and departure gates which could cause a passenger to miss their plane. The bathrooms are literally hell on earth. They are not sanitized. They are the traditional hole in the floor toilets. There is no ventilation so the smell is completely debilitating. The airport was so packed that people were sitting AND sleeping in the aisles of the duty free store. This airport needs to get itself together.

"most passengers sitting on floor"

(Saudi Arabia)

Not Verified | I was coming from India with family and had a transit through Jeddah Airport for a local connection. I have never seen a worse terminal or airport in my 13 years of flying across the world. It was chaotic to drop the luggage for my next local connection (people struggling to put their luggages on screening belt - only one, at last the airport personnel asked everyone to leave luggage on trolleys without any security against loss of luggage). The most horrible part was there were no empty seats near the boarding area - observed this during two transits through this airport in a span of two months (most passengers sitting on floor - never seen any airport in my life). The flight information displays were not giving any information about the gate numbers and boarding time. I hope not to fly again through this airport (especially in transit with family).

"there is a feeling of insecurity"

(India)

Not Verified | This is the worst airport I have ever been to. The most worrying thing about this place is that there is a feeling of insecurity. People I met [officials and others] are not friendly. They behaved rudely. Since there were not enough seats for passengers, people were sitting and lying on the floor. The airport looked more like a refugee camp with people lying all over the place. Pros: Nothing. Cons: Horrible toilet. No space to sit. Rude airport staff.

"avoid this place like the plague"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | Jeddah airport transfer lounge is genuinely one of the worst places I have ever been in my whole life. It, in itself means you should seriously reconsider traveling through here. The toilets are like an incoming apocalypse, honestly, it's nearly impossible to describe just how bad they are. There are essentially no shops and it's crowded to dangerous level. It's actually hard to even find a seat, and there is absolutely no where quiet to go, even the first class lounge is heaving. There are no restaurants, just very understocked, underwhelming cafes. The aircon and ventilation is also appalling, it's stifling to overwhelming levels. Men and women also can't go through security together, so my partner and I got separated for a while, which was also quite distressing when I couldn't find him for half an hour. Honestly, avoid this place like the plague.

Jeddah Airport customer review

(United States)

Unverified | The reason for my review is to acknowledge the kindness and care of the Saudi security staff at this airport. I was coming back from Hajj tired and exhausted and fainted in the airport terminal. I woke up with security staff around me asking how I was doing and a doctor was checking me out. They took me to an area where I could relax and get ready for my flight. One of the security staff even bought me and my friend who was with me at the time some juice and bottled water to revive my condition. Many thanks to the Saudi Government and all its staff for the hospitality and services offered during my Hajj trip in Saudi Arab.

"a scene of utter chaos and confusion"

(United Kingdom)

Unverified | As a family of 4, we had to transit through Jeddah from Johannedberg to Dammam. This means clearing immigration here, collecting luggage and re-checking luggage in again at the domestic terminal. We had 3 hours to complete such a simple task or so we thought. The bus took 10-15 minutes from aircraft to terminal, with the 2nd bus from our flight overtaking us in a crazy manouver. We had to wait in very long queues for immigration, the staff here could not care less and spend too much time drinking tea, chatting to their mates and using their mobile phones. Once through that you have to queue (more like free-for-all) yet again so some little dictator can check you have got a stamp, i.e. the clown on immigration has actually done his job. Then queue again for the x-ray machines with some member of staff with even less enthusiasm than the immigration staff. Even after that, it took nearly a full hour before luggage started to appear on the carrousel (I counted 50 mins at last check). When it eventually arrived we rushed to domestic terminal in fear of being late and found a scene of utter chaos and confusion. I can't describe what was going on apart from lots of people trying to storm a couple of counters. A member of staff spoke to us and just said "leave your bags here, I will sort them out". Luckily, that did end up fine in the end. Once we got through to the domestic depature terminal we found out our flight was delayed for an unknown period of time. No one know what was going on, the staff were ignoring people asking questions if they persisted. We asked to be put onto another flight we saw was leaving soon and was told "the departure board is wrong, that flight doesn't exist". Priceless. My personal favourite was when they some other travellers were getting messages off Saudi Air and telling the staff, the staff had no idea about it and just made tannoy announcements anyway! Over 9 hours later we had got angry, but eventually managed to find uncomfortable seats, so at least we could eat our complimentary stale sandwich and bottle of warm water. In conclusion, in my extensive travels this is the worst airport I have ever been to. Cramped, dirty, useless. Use Dammam or Riyadh instead!

"too crowded and staff are limited"

(United States)

Verified Review | This airport has a major security problems. It is very crowded and only 2 employees handled the security line, Imagine if you have to handle 30 k or 40 k passenger in your shift, which will lead to a security issues. Airport is too crowded and staff are limited, not only that staff have no education, not just no training. Restaurants are not clean which is a health risk. I was very nervous to travel from this airport.
