Helsinki Vantaa Airport

✅ Trip Verified | It's a very busy airport and consequently there are queues in some places but mechanisms are in place to make the experience more tolerable. Several kiosks help you self-check-in on departure, and a staff member helps visitors buy their train tickets using the vending machines. I think some help should be available for people to buy train tickets using the phone app, like which app will they use for their destinations, and how it works. I managed to do it with the help from the girl, but this information should be available on posters or leaflets with step by step guide for foreigners.

❎ Not Verified | The airport was easy to get to and get around it. It wasn't hard to get to the gate and very friendly staff. I like the airport because you can't get lost in it and the gates are shown where they are clearly. If you are traveling through when you're between flights, it'll be okay for you and you won't miss a flight.

✅ Trip Verified | A fine airport in general, but some details annoy me. The distances to walk are quite long (especially in such a small airport) and there are no moving walkways at the airport. Biggest complaint is after the security check: after you pass the security check in terminal 2, you are inside of a confined duty free shop. There is no way to pass the shop, the airport operator forces you to go through the narrow aisles even if you are not willing to buy anything. The layout of the airport is simple, but the maps provided are poor.

✅ Trip Verified | Fast transfer, no queues, good service and friendly staff. The taxi was quick. The airport also has clear signs. Everywhere was cool, for example, the toilet had just been cleaned up. The aircraft de-boarded quickly. I had no luggage in the hold, but they seemed to come quickly. WiFi is fast.

❎ Not Verified | A very nice airport for connecting flights. I have used HEL regularly for 20 so years and have seen it develop from quite small and boring to a modern, fast and clean airport. The only thing im missing is some fast walking aids to get from T1 to T3 (outside EU terminal). This can be quite a long walk if you are on a short conection time. Also the prices for food and drink is amongst the highest in all of the EU.

✅ Trip Verified | Compact and nice airport where you can find anything you need for a trip (money exchange, adapters, homecoming gifts etc.). Easy to navigate and queues move fast. More seats and better signage to the public transport would make the airport even better.

❎ Not Verified | Terrible snow weather, nothing worked on arrivals. Our flight with Norwegian was never mentioned as we landed, the worst thing was that the arrivals hall bagage area was in chaos. Belts did not have any infomation and the hall was full of people and when waiting for almost 3 hours for luggage there was no information about anything. Conditions are what they are, but they should have given some information about the situation to calm people down. I would assume they have an intercom system and somebody could have given some info. People from around the world were asking each other for help, since there was no information was given!

✅ Trip Verified | Helsinki airport is always very pleasant to travel in. Very fast and convenient bag drop and security with close to no waiting. Good shops and restaurants. The only downside is long walking distance in non schengen area, I would recommend adding autowalks.

❎ Not Verified | Great airport, very large, with a great variety of shops and restaurants. We were just in transit but time flew as we were busy getting around the shops. Good signs and directions as well. Great wifi service and plenty of seats. Clean toilets with bird chirping really made my day

❎ Not Verified | Typically Scandinavian efficiency and design. Friendly people, quick check-in and security clearance. Shops are tidy and easy to navigate, though with the further away gates there is no option of a moving walkway so you need to get your walking shoes on. Terminals are never too crowded so its a pleasure to wander at your leisure. Facilities are clean and tidy and the birdsong is a calming influence before a flight. Wifi is free and doesn't require this ridiculous registration like other airports require. Food and drink is expensive but its expensive everywhere in Finland.
