Helsinki Vantaa Airport

✅ Trip Verified | Avoid this airport if possible. The airport is still under expansion work (like it has been for several years). This means blocked doors and routes (both indoors and outdoors). Be prepared to walk very long distances without luggage cart and that escalators are not working. There are scores of gates but very few are actually in use (the most remote ones). When departing Finnair computers were not working so check in took ages and involved queueing three different queues. When arriving we had stand in covid control queue with about 500 other people in corridor for more than hour (even though we had filled our information beforehand in FINENTRY web pages and reserved the required PCR testing that is made 3 days after arrival).

Not Verified | This used to be a nice and small airport with a slightly over-eager security, but it's gone awful and extremely over-eager: 1. Terminal 2 (Finnair, OneWorld) has no human-attended desks to check in or even to do bag drop for economy. Only clumsy machines for both and a couple of “special assistance” desks with long queues. 2. Security requires removing *all* electrical-related things from the luggage: even cables and tiny in-ear headphones. Supposedly, according to news articles, this policy introduced in January 2020 is for efficiency, but does the exact opposite. It's a total mess and takes forever to repack. 3. The seating has been reduced a lot to make space for shops. Some gates like 22 have just 5 seats.

✅ Trip Verified | Not too crowded. Not too big. It's not well organized though not bad. City trains are available. Taxis are available as well. Staff speak English with difficulty. Not too far from Helsinki city center.

Not Verified | Very easy airport to get around. Good services and lounge area for transit. Finnair and HEL is now my route of choice to Asia if reasonable fares available.

Not Verified | Helsinki Airport once again exceeded the expectations by being smooth, comfortable and friendly. Even though it's an airport, it feels more like a relaxing home away from home with a calm atmosphere and design, and always smiling and helpful staff. Always a pure pleasure!

Not Verified | Not well organised. When this airport is building new areas it makes the walking distance longer and longer. Our second home in Lisboa is also growing but the walking distances get shorter. Too few places to sit, too much of the total area is reserved for shops.

Not Verified | Hugely long walk to non-Schengen gate, also the signs there showed me to walk and extra 100 meters than needed. Really expensive water and no free drinking water provided. No hand baggage trolleys.

Not Verified | Customer service is very good, helpful airport staff. Facilities before departure security check should be improved (waiting area seating). Passport control takes a long time with no proper guidance for the queues (most of the time in arrivals for non-EU people). Overall I am satisfied with Helsinki Airport facilities and other services.

✅ Trip Verified | An overall good experience. Food service that I used (Espresso House) was however crowded and queuing arrangements (direction, people flow etc) were really poorly designed.

✅ Trip Verified | During the busiest autumn holiday season the airport was enjoyable and clean. There was not too big lines, airport was clean and staff was friendly. The shop and restaurant selection is really good and you can drink water from the taps. The WiFi is handy, as you don't need password for that. I enjoy travelling through Helsinki Airport! Also, their social media channels are really cool.
