"passport control couldn’t keep up"

(Ireland)

Not Verified | This is simply the worst airport experience I have ever had. Having arrived at the airport, we spent almost two hours in queues for security and passport control. The queues occupy the entirety of the departures hall. At one point, security machines were stopped for 15 mins because passport control couldn’t keep up. There is no meaningful organization, calls for closing flights are random or non-existent, and the whole thing is basically a shambles. I fail to understand how this can go on for years with no meaningful attempt to address what is a weekly problem in winter. It’s as if they are taken by surprise by all these passengers who seem to randomly turn up each week. I can’t imagine a worse run airport.

"Queue after queue after queue"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | Awful, awful, awful. Took 3.5 hours to get from check in to the plane, they had to hold our flight up. Queue after queue after queue. Can't comment on restuarants etc in there as never got to see them. This airport cant cope with the level of traffic and in my opinion it is the worst in Europe.

"small, basic and very inefficient"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | Grenoble airport is awful. It is small, basic and very inefficient. You have to queue for ages sometimes in the open air to get through security. Passport control is manned by just two people and is totally inadequate for the number of passengers. Delays were caused by air traffic control and on arrival because of not enough space for the aircraft to offload. This is a terrible airport which I will never use again and such should be avoided at all costs.

"no interest in assisting the passengers"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | Possibly the worst airport I have had to use in many years of flying. There is simply no interest in assisting the passengers in getting from check in to airside. The queues are horrendous, the staff disinterested, and the buildings are decrepit. We arrived two hours before flight time, but if our aircraft had not been delayed for 40 minutes, we would not have made the flight. As it was we had to frantically queue jump to make it. Just an impossible place to be. Avoid at all costs.

"had to queue to enter the queue for security"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | This is the third time we have flown into and out of Grenoble this winter season. On each occasion the journeys have been continually hit be delays. The queue to enter and pass through passport control can extend outside of the covered zone, even this area is cold and inhospitable. The return flight experience is far worse, the queues for check in are chaotic, particularly if you need to use 'check in' desks 18 - 21, it is almost impossible to access them directly as queues for other desks block the route. If taking skis there is yet another queue for over sized baggage. Today we even had to queue to enter the queue for security! The line for this queue weaves round a network of barriers. When you finally exit the security check you face yet another queue for Passport Control. On joining this the 'last call' for our flight was announced! Fortunately dozens other suffering passengers happily waved us through so we did not miss it. Clearly the airport cannot efficiently service the number of flights it has at the weekends. This is true in peak and off peak weeks. I do not recall such a terrible experience when flying to and from Grenoble some years ago. If the flights could be 'staggered' rather than multiple departures all within less than an hour I am sure the situation could be improved. i will do my upmost to avoid using this airport in future, perhaps 'carriers should also consider this action. Jet 2, easyJet, BA and Aer Lingus (there may be others too) all currently use it and seem to manage to time their departures to almost coincide with each other. In my ratings I have recorded NA for terminal seating, food and beverage and airport shopping simply because I have never had time use use any of them.

"delivers a painful customer experience"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | It was the worst airport experience I have had in years. With modern airports now being optimised logistics and commercial businesses such incompetence is surprising and delivers a painful customer experience. This wasn’t even during peak holiday times. Won’t travel through this airport again.

"this airport is really ghastly"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | I'm not usually one to moan, but unfortunately I have to say that this airport is really ghastly. Horrible queues, particularly at passport control on both arrival and departure sides. On a skiing Saturday you can expect to stand in a stationary queue, whilst your flight is being called and everyone is getting very agitated. There doesn't appear to be any effort to speed things along. We will make every to avoid this airport in the future.

"badly trained staff"

(Ireland)

Trip Verified | Terribly organized airport with sham plot facilities and badly trained staff. Long queues and people almost missing their flight due to tightly packed airport. Barely enough room for all passengers at airport during busy times. Check in was also not great.

"it’s a total disgrace"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | Do not book your holiday flight to or from Grenoble. The place should be shut down - it’s a total disgrace. Unless you like being treated like Pigs in a slaughterhouse, stuffed into sheds, left out in the cold, queueing for at least an hour. The airlines bringing passengers here should be fined as they must surely know this Airport and it’s staff and processes are in total chaos.

"airport is a shambles"

(United Kingdom)

Grenoble airport simply cannot cope at weekends during the snow season. Arrived 2.5 hours prior to flight, people queuing with luggage out of the doors as check in area completely full. Checked in 2 hours prior to flight, to then be told that we would not be able to go through security or passport control until our flight was called. Virtually no seating available inside, people were sitting on the floor outside the terminal building, thank goodness the weather was good. There is one restaurant, one set of toilets and a small cafe for the hundreds of passengers coming through the airport. We waited and waited. Our flight was eventually called 30 mins after the scheduled departure time, but all passengers still had to negotiate security and passport control before heading straight to the plane (no time to buy duty free). Left almost two hours late having spent over four hours at the airport and this was the same for every passenger traveling through the airport. This airport is a shambles and I would avoid at all costs in the snow season.
