Fukuoka Airport customer review

(Hong Kong)

Fukuoka Airport is small but 'efficient with great airport services. We barely had to queue not because there weren't many passengers but because the ground crew was so quick and helpful. The airport building is not bad. Really good airport to visit.

Fukuoka Airport customer review

(Japan)

Conveniently located near downtown Fukuoka and easily accessible by tube highway buses and taxis has four terminals I used the international concourse and FUK is my "official airport" when travelling abroad from Japan (connecting in other Asian airports). The building is well-lit clean and spacious comfortable temperature I live in Japan but for those who do not speak at least basic Japanese it may be quite difficult to communicate with ground staff due to their poor or non-existing english skills offers basic facilities shops and restaurants security screenings went through very smoothly departure process with no problems airplane boarding efficient arrivals with no complaints immigration and customs personnel friendly and polite even though I live some 90 miles away from FUK I would not think it twice to use it regardless of being in transit in a third country prefer it to Narita endless times recommended for those visiting Southern Japan or those residing here wishing to go overseas.

Fukuoka Airport customer review

I was a bit disappointed with Fukuoka Airport. I was stunned to find that there was literally nothing to do at the airport after checking in. Very few shops with not many products and luggage check which was very disorganised took almost 30 mins following an immigration which took another 15 minutes. However cleanliness of the airport cannot be complained.

I have only used the Domestic portion of the airport so cannot comment on the International terminal. As others mentioned very easy to get to - 250 Yen and 2 stops by subway from Hakata station. Not many airports in the world are that easy to get to. Checkin in took a little longer than normal due to fact we were flying to Narita and then Internationally. Having said that I checked in 2 hours early which was far to early. Boarding the plane took only a few minutes vs the long drawn out procedure you get at some other airports. There are enough stores and services at the airport and if you have time an observation deck (why don't more airports have these?).

It's a very simple airport. Not a lot of glamour here. But it's also incredibly painless. Transportation links are great - especially for Japan where most of the international Airports are in the middle of nowhere (see Narita Kansai Hiroshima.) Fukuoka is virtually right downtown with the subway line going straight there. You can also take a taxi to anywhere in the metro area without it costing a fortune as well (do that from the aforementioned airports and you're looking at spending 10000 yen easy.) Service has always been kind but admittedly - it's a straightforward airport. I've never needed any help getting around.

Fukuoka Airport customer review

Fukuoka airport is one of the worst international airports you can imagine in the developed country. Certainly the worst in Japan. Nowadays most of the international terminal including Tokyo Narita and Osaka Kansai airport does security check for check-in luggage after it's checked in. Fukuoka airport does not have this facility yet and you have to queue up for more than 30mins for security check for "Check-in luggage" before you check yourself in the flight at the counter. After then you have to queue up at least another 30mins before immigration for the hand carry luggage for security check. Only 3 lanes are available and takes ages to go thru. You will definitely encounter this without fail If your flight is in the morning taking off between 10am-12pm because there are more than 7 flights taking off between this 2 hours at this single run-way small airport. And check-in only starts 2 hours before departure but counter opens only 8am in the morning. It is just a bad arrangement in allocating the flights during the day. Bad management. Even if you are flying on Business class you are still required to queue up and no priority lane available at all. It is complete waste of time after traveling other airports in the worlds even within Asia (Shanghai Bangkok Vietnam etc) Fukuoka is the worst by far. All the good memory in Japan was basically wiped out with this terrible experience on this time wasting airport at the last moment of my time in Japan. Staff were diligent and polite at least and that was the only good part.

Fukuoka Airport customer review

My favourite airport in Japan because it is so easy to use and unlike so many airports these days so quick to travel to. The last thing I want faced with a long flight is an equally arduous journey to/from the airport and FUK is just a breeze to get to. As others have mentioned subway to the shopping/entertainment district (Tenjin) and Hakata station is only about 250yen and about 10 minutes taxis about 1500yen. I usually arrive into Fukuoka in the early morning where there seem to be very few foreigners on those TG or SQ flights. However I recently arrived on a KE flight in the evening that arrived at the same time as a China Airlines flight and the queues for non- resident foreigners were extremely long. International terminal facilities are adequate though if you are hungry before you fly out make sure you eat at the 4th floor restaurants before you clear immigration as you cannot access them airside and will be stuck with the sole daggy sandwich shop. I hear the airport is running at capacity and they are thinking of building a new one in coming years and I hope this won't result in yet another airport miles from the city it's mean to be in!

Fukuoka Airport customer review

Recently used Fukuoka airport for my international and domestic flights. To transfer between both terminals there is a regularly scheduled free shuttle service. These services may or may not be crowded depending on the time of the day. I think the airport staff use them too. There is a nice observation deck at the domestic terminal. I am not too sure about this over at the international terminal. Both terminals are nice and modern though the domestic terminal may be a little crowded especially during peak hours. For the international terminal it's a pleasure to use. Immigration was easy to go through as there were not many foreigners on the flight that I arrived on. Also the departure gates are not far from the immigration area. This airport is close to the city area. Trains cost 250 yen to Hakata station which is 2 stops away from the airport station located below the domestic terminal. Taxis are about 1200 to 1300 yen to similar locations. Journey time for both taxis and trains is less than 15 mins.

Recently flew into FUK's (they get one of the more interesting codes) international terminal. Efficient new and nice enough. The only cumbersome thing is that the international terminal is only reachable by a crowded 10 minute bus ride from the domestic terminal ride that actually leaves and re-enters airport space. This airport is linked by the city subway and is very close to the city a very big convenience. The train station in downtown Fukuoka is only like 10 minutes away.
