✅ Trip Verified | Are you for real? This airport is terrible. Here are the highlights: 1. Enormous. Walking forever and ever, up and down stairs, then down miles of halls, the back up, then back down, then more halls, like a mouse in a maze. 2. No air conditioning. Does this need explaining? Especially while hiking 4 miles to your connecting flight. 3. Passport control. Twice. 4. Poor Signage. 5. Lack of variety with refreshment options. If you want a pretzel or some Bulgari jewelry, then you may enjoy it here.

✅ Trip Verified | I have transited several times through FRA. The airport is huge and very impractical. One literally must walk for miles when transiting. Security staff is generally unfriendly, and the thoroughness of checks is just ridiculous. I had to get a thorough check on my liquids presented in a plastic bag, etc. exactly as required because the machine will flag all liquids. So I had to wait for a thorough check and make other people wait behind me. For once, the security person was very nice and apologised for that, saying it happens “all the time”. FRA is the only airport in the Schenghen area where I am rejected at the automatic passport check, and it happens every single time I try. Today there was quite a few people waiting for passport check and there was a free counter where the officer was chatting with a colleague. So a passenger walked up there and presented his passport. He was shouted at by the police officers who walked him back behind the yellow line and asked if he knew how to read. The police officers and custom officers, are very keen and look at everyone as though they are a potential criminal. The cherry on the cake: my plane is late by 20 minutes because the cleaning takes longer than expected, seriously? This is one of the worst airports in Europe, close behind CDG. With some efforts they can come ahead of the race soon!

✅ Trip Verified | The airport itself is great, small queues, good duty free shops, but the design looks outdated. Frankfurt airport has many lounges and some good restaurants.

✅ Trip Verified | This is the worst airport I have ever been to. The security checks are designated for few gates. However, the flights on the gates depart at similar time which leads to a long queue. The airport didn't open enough security checks and it takes a very long time to check every person. The restaurant does not offer delicious food and there are not enough seats.

Not Verified | Arrived from Vancouver on Lufthansa to connect to Manchester flight. Firstly had to go through despite not leaving terminal, etc. So had to throw away liquids bought in duty free en route. Why? Security staff absolutely disgusting - attitude, rude, unhelpful. Outgoing journey was via Munich where contrast could not have been greater - pleasant, helpful, etc.. Will try to avoid FRA in future.

Not Verified | We have transited through FRA on the way to someplace else in Europe several times over the past 40 years and have always found it to be a huge, miserable, poorly managed place, dating back to the early 1980’s. With its growth in recent years it has become even more miserable. Yesterday we were in transit from SFO to FRA, on to Athens. My wife is partially disabled and requires a wheelchair in large airports like this one, with no choices of transit between terminals except walking or wait for a wheelchair. When we arrived at the gate in FRA we were told she had to wait for a wheelchair, but not to worry, one would arrive soon. Along with about 20 other passengers we waited. And waited. After numerous complaints over the next 1.5 hours we flagged down a motorized carrier and insisted they take us to the gate for Athens or we would miss our flight. The driver reluctantly let us and another passenger bound for Athens on the cart, but then she took us to passport control and dumped us there, telling us to wait there. After another half hour we went across the way to the Lufthansa lounge (we were flying Lufthansa First Class, BTW), and the attendant there summoned another cart that finally got us to the gate, after boarding had already started. We barely made it. On the way from the original gate we saw several examples of wheelchair pushers standing around chatting, with empty wheelchairs and motorized carts whizzing around empty. By contrast, when we got to Athens several wheelchairs were waiting at the bottom of the ramp, with the names of the customers. The much praised efficiency of the Germans is put to shame by these Greeks. We’ll never, ever use FRA again. Beware, anybody who requires assistance at this airport; you won’t get it. My suspicion is the employees who push the wheelchairs and drive those carts are government employees in Germany, and they’ll get paid regardless of performance. Sound familiar? By contrast, the staff in this category in Athens work for tips, so they have to hustle if they want to make any money. The same is true in the USA, by the way, where performance is far, far better than in Germany. I would suggest the management at FRA have a look at this and see if they can go back to the old work for hire system. Anybody who spent time in a Communist country in the old days will recognize what’s going on here.

Not Verified | Could it get worse? Yes it actually can. Two bus trips from D to Z, anemic security, and a mile walk later, arrival at Z66 sticky, broken, and confused. Nice job FRA.

Not Verified | I was unlucky enough to transit twice at FRA. First time landing at 8pm to take my connection flight, had enough time to eat but restaurant had only one waitress and when after 15 mins of waiting without even placing an order I stood up and moved to the bar where there was a very poor choice of sandwich and only one barman serving customers. Not blaming anything on barman and waitress but they need to hire more people. Real nightmare was on the return when I missed connection flight cause they had a false alarm regarding liquid I carried in a bottle of spirits I bought at the duty free. They did not notice the airline were checking my bag for 30 mins and I had been told it's a silent airport so they don't make PA about last call for boarding. I will never take a flight from this airport again.

Not Verified | The security for the connecting flight was unusually incompetent and aggressive. They were chatting among themselves and condescending towards passengers expressing their concerns about missing connecting flights. One person explicitly said they didn’t care if we missed our flights, and threatened to send us to the police.

✅ Trip Verified | Overall experience at the airport was very limited. Staff are very unfriendly in general and facilities need some upgrade. Limited signage also. I was traveling within EU with EU ID card and security guy was too busy whatsapping on his phone rather than doing his job. He complained for not having a passport so i can go through automatic gates and tried to cause an issue.
