"ample seating prior to security"

Trip Verified | My wife and I have used this airport for the past 23 years, sometimes twice a year. We arrived today to fly home from holiday and allowed an extra hour to the usual two hours in view of recent reviews and it being a busy Monday - flight at 1415. Our experience was the best ever at this airport, no queue to check in, no queue to scan bags and about 10 minutes in a fast moving multi lane security process. Our impression is that moving the security line from the main hall is a big improvement. Still the same crush once through security in the departure lounge but you can judge how soon you need to go through. Clean facilities, ample seating prior to security.

"just not enough room"

Not Verified | Arrival. Baggage handlers took a break half way through unloading our plane - 45 min wait. Departure. Check in and bag drop utter chaos. Lord knows what it will be like in peak season. Inside there is just not enough room. No available seating for most. No bar. Overpriced food and drink. It was however clean and the staff were nice enough. Overall a poor way to end the holiday.

"2 hrs to get through the system"

Trip Verified | Corfu Airport is indeed chaotic, overcrowded even in June, poorly organized etc, but to be fair, unlike some other Greek airports I have visited, the toilets are new and clean, with the ubiquitous bin for WC paper. The aircon works, the flatscreen monitors work, the announcements are more or less understandable. Outside is a shaded seating area with a bar for those whose flights have yet to be called. However I dread to think what it must be like at the hight of the holiday season! It took me 2 hrs to get through the system.

"The" worst airport ever

Trip Verified | No organisation at all queuing outside in scorching sun last thing you want after relaxing holiday. Having to take your suitcase to be screened after booking in at desk bizarre to say the least, then nowhere to sit. Then taken outside after waiting to board your plane in the scorching sun 30 minutes. The worst airport ever. Last time going to Corfu lovely breathtaking scenery but ruined by a third world airport! What have they done with the tourists money? Spent on jobs for the boys government !

"easily the worst airport experience"

Not Verified | Corfu Airport is easily the worst airport experience that I have ever had and I have used over seventy airports around the world over the last thirty years. I had already booked-in online yesterday to depart Corfu for Bristol and I arrived early for my flight but I had to queue to register my luggage, then I had to queue with several hundred others in a long line snaking around the terminal to check in my luggage, then I had to queue for security to x-ray my luggage and to drop it off. Then I had to queue for security. At this point, my flight was being called and we were expedited to another queue for the departure gate. All-in-all I, and several hundred other passengers, resigned but remarkably good-natured considering the dreadful quality of service queued for three hours before we were whisked through the departure gate. The facility was completely overwhelmed. There were departure desks that were unmanned but could have been helping the through-flow. The luggage should have been dropped off and x-rayed at the check-in desk as is normal at other airports. It is completely unacceptable that any paying customers should be treated in this way, let alone the elderly and the families with children. For this reason, I shall never visit Corfu by air ever again. Are the good people of Corfu's hotels and villa owners aware of just how badly this third-world airport will impact on their futures?

"Inadequate seating"

Unverified | Inadequate seating even outside peak season with many elderly passengers formed to stand. Dirty departure area and long queues for female toilets. Flight information late and inadequate. Very few staff around. Getting through security was quick and one can park right outside the terminal, with even unattended cars lining the kerb.

"the staff try their hardest"

Verified Review | Whilst we do agree with a lot of the other reviews, we do not agree with the reasons. The airport is small and the staff try their hardest to ensure that your transit through to departures is efficiently dealt with. Once in departures the problems start, overcrowding, lack of seating, dirty toilets. This however is not the fault of the airport, my wife said that the cleaner in the ladies toilet was working tirelessly to try to keep the place tidy and clean, this was without success because so many people were not taking any care when carrying out their ablutions. Problems with seating, they cannot physically put more seats in, don't blame the airport, blame the tour operators who insist on delivering 10 flights at a time and leaving passengers to wait up to 3 hrs for their flights. If anyone is to blame for the poor running of this airport it is the main tour operators and their inability to arrange their flights to allow more time between them. If you have 10 flights in the space of 1 hour with 200 passengers on each all arriving at the same time there is always going to be a problem.

"The state of this airport is shocking"

Verified Review | The state of this airport is shocking. Once we entered the airport, there were countless queues for check in, but we didn't need to as we did it online. So we relaxed at the only part of the airport with working air conditioning, the pre-security lounge. We then went to the security queue that stretched the whole airport! Once finally through, we were boiling in the departure area and sat on the floor. We left the airport to our plane by bus and took off, I know why so many people don't come here, it's because of this awful airport.

"Long queues for security"

Arrival was fine, busy, got cases and onto the bus within 30 mins. Toilets were clean and not busy. Departure is always another story. Lots of coaches arrived at the same time, we were too early for check in, told to go and wait outside. Queues were huge and disorganised. There was Thomas cook reps available but they try and make people wait outside. You have to carry your own case over to the through luggage screening after its been weighed. Seems stupid. Long queues for security. Once through the departure hall was heaving. People fighting for seats. Only a small café area that served fast food and sandwiches nothing local. One duty free store and a small jewellery/watch store. That's it. Queues for toilets were horrendous.

"worst for customer comfort"

Unverified | Corfu airport is the worst for customer comfort that I have ever been to. Boiling hot, nowhere to sit down and packed full with people. This airport needs modernising to cope with the amount of people going through it.
