Security zone seems much improved. Catching a midday flight I was through and into the departure zone in a flash. One aspect of BHD's operation I hate is the miserly way they sting you for things which are free at other airports. Want to weight you luggage to check the weight? Pop it onto the scales and then insert £2. Plastic bags for liquids pop a £1 into a slot and you can get some. Contrast this with a major airport like Gatwick where there are free scales all over the place and free plastic bags at all the security zones before going into departures.

First time in BHD in a few years. Flew from and returned to the airport on a domestic flight. Security wasn't too bad. Duties were dispensed efficiently enough on a Sunday evening. Although as usual a little more smile and basic customer service wouldn't go amiss they were a far cry from the surly folks of the international airport. Once airside I was impressed by the improvements. What was once a small airport is now a small airport that feels a good deal bigger with facilities that punch above the weight of its small stature. Only problem is that from departures all flight board first through doors A B or C and then on to the gate number. This meant that 2 flights were allocated the same door and as such there was very little time between the previous flight clearing the door and mine boarding.

I unfortunately have to use this airport every week and really wish I didn't. Its facilities are limited and expensive the toilets are often dirty and there isn't enough seating in departures. The departures gates downstairs are dark cramped and freezing with almost no seating. There is only 1 airbridge which is rarely used so with Belfast's weather you frequently get cold & wet getting on/off planes. Security is slow and staff are inconsistent in applying search rules - they're not always very polite either.

I use this airport a lot - the only thing that doesn't change is the delay of up to 25 minutes for bags to arrive in hall. I only use LHR-BHD route so don't know what it's like for other routes. The airport has been redesigned security hall is bigger which is a major plus and the departure area is now upstairs. I don't think this area is much bigger than before and there seems to be less seating. Great view of apron and runway.

A nice clean and relatively simple airport. Due to it being a small regional facility it is very easy to navigate around. Put in its simplest format you've got the entrance hall departures lounge and arrivals/baggage so essentially 3 large halls all directly connected. Unlike the International airport (Aldergrove) it has a few skyways to allow you to walk to the plane without exposure to the elements. The range of shops is good to (for the airport size). It is clean and bright and allows you to see the aircraft take off and land which is something I enjoy and something that Belfast International now deprives you of. A small personal preference maybe but I like to see out at the planes in an airport!

Arrived on BMI airbridge from aircraft into terminal. Wait for baggage approx 10mins. Small reclaim area with just two belts. Car hire from desk and short walk to car park. Return fast check-in and through security quickly. Departure area having work done so seating mostly occupied. Toilets clean.

Second visit within a week. I arrived at the airport 2.5 hours before my flight so once I checked in I caught the express bus number 600 to the City centre. £3 return takes about 15 minutes. The city centre bus station is near the Europa hotel and there are a good few pubs in the vicinity so I had a nice lunch. Better than the facilities at the airport and more civilised. Bus leaves every 20 minutes and I was back at the airport in plenty of time for the flight. Its easy to do if you have some time to kill. Mid-afternoon flight plenty of people there but the departure lounge never seemed crowded.

Departed at 08.30 on a saturday morning. No queues at FlyBe check in - the self service machine seemed simple enough to operate. A little queue for security - staff very pleasant. I was taken to one side to have my phone examined and the agent was very friendly. Departure lounge upstairs. Nice views over the runway from the restaurant. Had a full Irish breakfast - £10 and perfectly fine. Service a bit slow and I guess this could be a problem with more people around. There was plenty of seating for everyone at the opposite end of the lounge - more than there used to be when it was downstairs. It didnt seem busy although there were a lot of flights departing around the same time.

Don't try arriving by train unless you have a cell phone. The route from the station to the terminal goes across the airfield so you have to take a free shuttle; however the shuttle only comes if you can summon it. Although they provide a phone to call the shuttle it doesn't work - the alternative is to call the Security office and ask them to send the shuttle. It was a minor annoyance but as I was already late for my flight it was an unhelpful one - they could just have a shuttle meet every train. Otherwise I can't really complain about this airport - I actually found security to be pretty quick and most of the staff seemed friendly enough.

Travelled through this airport again 30/31 March. Ticket barriers unable to accept credit cards. Wrong gate on information board. Wrong gate albeit a different wrong gate given at the departure lounge. Upon return the ticket barrier refused to accept the ticket (23 pounds for an overnight stop in the long term park) intercom for assistance engaged/busy. No shuttle bus seen. It doesn't get any better.
