Belfast City Airport

Snazzy little airport only five minutes on the bus from the city and inexpensive too. The usual array of shops and a bar called Bushmills are more than adequate for an airport of this size. A minor gripe was the walk down to the boarding gate a bit of a trek along a dark and dingy corridor with the wind howling in your ears. Boarding was speedy and the staff were excellent if only other airports would follow this example. A credit to the city of Belfast.

A very poor first impression when arriving. Passengers are faced with a long walk down a dark and dingy corridor. The carpet tiles appear to be water stained - leaks from the roof perhaps? No air bridges here - you are exposed to the elements when boarding or disembarking. The seats in the main terminal are looking very tired - many have rips on the cushions and are well worn. On departure security would not accept my online boarding pass and I had to return to the check in desk to obtain a regular one. They said it was because the airline had changed the flight number! The airline stated that security hadn't updated their system - Poor service indeed.

Nothing has really changed since I was last here except all the eateries etc are now located upstairs. Security was pretty slow with only one lane open but when a queue started to form they opened another lane however only had one metal detector running which led to the inevitable bottleneck! Had a reasonable lunch in the bush mills bar with a light lunch for two coming to just under £20. As with all airports these days there is an acute lack of seating upstairs most of the seats seem to be within the 'harvest market' restaurant. Seriously about 3/4 of the seating upstairs is located within one of the eateries with just a small handful of 'free' seats. Overall not a bad experience although with the lack of seats and toilets I wouldn't like to be here when it is busy!

On arriving at the airport I was quite surprised to be met with very little seating very pleasant staff very short queue at security which is great but unfortunately as a family of four decided to have some breakfast at the Harvest Market restaurant which turned out to be dreadful English breakfast was inedible and overpriced.

Have only flown out of the renovated terminal twice but think it's a great improvement on what we had before particularly with the departure lounge moving upstairs allowing some great views of the airfield. My one issue is that between only a few screens and the inaudible PA it's hard to know when exactly your flight's boarding - a screen in the eating area would be extremely helpful so you can relax there instead of having to get up and constantly check.

This airport is growing on me. The baggage reclaim area has now been expanded to 2 halls as opposed to two belts in one hall before. I had hand luggage so I don't know if the delivery of luggage from plane to belt has improved. I always recall it being quite slow.

Used Belfast City Airport on Sunday 5 August - first of all the bus service from the city centre to Belfast City Airport is very good. It took less than 20 minutes to travel from the Europa Bus Centre to being dropped outside the terminal building. The bus was clean near empty and the ticket only cost £2.20. On arrival the airport seemed very clean and was quiet. The terminal was also full of natural light which I thought was quite impressive. I was through security in less than 5 minutes as there was hardly any queues. Agree with previous comments that there is a lack of non-restaurant related seating and the retail offering while decent for an airport of this size is fairly intrusive.

Despite spending millions on a new departure lounge I was horrified to see how limited seating was approximately 200 seats 1/3 of which are hidden to the rear without any view. What is also obvious is the massive increase in retail shopping which takes approximately 75% of the available space. Further almost all retail units were displaying merchandise within the concourse and outside their shop curtilage. This impedes access reduces floor space and is a potential hazard during evacuation. It should be banned. Principally this an airport not a retail park so has profit greed got the better of comfort and safety? On a brighter note I would say the Market Harvest and O’Brien’s restaurants do offer a good reasonably priced selection of food and beverages however don't be surprised if you can't get a seat after paying for your food as the take-up of none paying customers is large. It's a real shame that profit greed comes before passenger comfort and safety and they boast the improvements are for our comfort!

New facilities much better than old one check-in facilities good and fair selection of shops seating good and overall a pleasant experience.

It was once a great friendly local airport to fly from but how things have changed yes the airport is modern looks clean with fresh new security that looks like it works well and fast. Airside there are very few seats once you walk past the shops and restaurants the main seating area is cramped and horrible. Very over priced so buy before the airport.
