❎ Unverified | Worst ever. Long lines, no direction and lots of people (employees) standing around doing nothing. Miserable over two hours to check in with fights among passengers because of no lines, just crowded pushing. Then we moved on to the TSA checkpoint which was equally bad, again people just standing around occasionally yelling at travelers.

❎ Unverified | Absolutely terrible! Checked-in online, bag drop took 40 mins, then queue to get through security took nearly 2 hrs, there were various separate queues, and you just had to find one and start queuing. No staff available to tell you anything, just lots and lots of people not knowing what to do or what's going on. Ended up missing the flight to Vienna, apparently no more flights to Vienna today or tomorrow, suggested to us to fly to Prague tonight instead. Now waiting for flight to Prague before finding a way to Vienna. Can't believe how bad it is, our flight operator Vueling isn't too much better, made us wait at one place then after nearly an hr, we were told to go elsewhere. End up took over 2.5 hr to talk to someone from Vueling.

✅ Verified Review | Total chaos on August 3, 2017. Long, long security lines. Not organized and staff not helpful. Line curves through airport well before the security entrance. The wait time was just over one hour (arrived at 10am). We heard the airport workers were in a work slow down today and may go on strike tomorrow (Friday). Travelers beware!

✅ Verified Review | Chaos airport waiting hours for security check, unfriendly, impolite airport staff. Dirty toilets and poor air conditioning, passengers looked like they could have been in a wet t-shirt contest. I am flying a few times a month but I have never seen such a mess.

✅ Verified Review | Depending on which terminal you fly to/from, you will have different feelings. One (Terminal 2) is more for the low-cost flights and is ok. The other (Terminal 1) is more for the regular airlines and is fresher and nicer. Both have eating options, even if not terrific. Shopping is better in terminal 1. Security step can be a bit messy, especially in terminal 2. Finding the car rental booths in terminal 2 can be a bit of a treasure hunt as you need to go on the parking lot. That was not well advertised when I was there. Be aware that not all staff speaks English.

✅ Verified Review | Arrived at Barcelona Airport more than 3 hours prior to departure, but checking the luggage in took 1.5 hours and then the security check was even longer, so we nearly missed our flight! We had absolutely no time for shopping, eating or even going to the toilet as we had to run to catch the flight. It would have been better if someone would have coordinated the crowd at the security gates to help them not to miss the earlier flights. Also travelling from zones W and Y required passport check with additional queueing for those costumers. Try to be there at least 4 hours before departure.

✅ Verified Review | When arriving in Barcelona airport we encountered huge queues to get through passport control. It was extremely warm in this queue and made us feel quite unwell. The queue had no order and at times passengers were getting very agitated and it became quite uncomfortable and intimidating. The staff were doing nothing to help this situation and not even all the gates were open with staff on. When returning to board our plane on the way home the shopping and seating areas were very good. It was a pleasant area to relax and there was plenty of nice shops to browse. However when we boarded the plane we then encountered a 40 minute wait before take off. The plane was getting extremely warm and this delay was due to purely to traffic on the runway. At one point we were in a queue behind 6 other planes. They need some more organisation for such a large airport.

❎ Unverified | Barcelona Airport security check had a huge queue, big chaos, taking more than 1 hour to pass. A big disappointment. The staff were talking to us only in Spanish and I had that feeling that they enjoyed the situation. For more than 500 people or maybe more, they operated 4 or 5 security gates!

✅ Verified Review | Terrible. That just sums it all up. Absolutely horrifying terrible. A not exaggerated 2 hour wait before security made us and everybody else in line nearly miss our flight. And the worst part: with several security gates closed, mind you! Seeing such terrible queus and doing abolutely nothing about it is just plain evil. Security check itself was also a joke: I witnessed several people walking through detectors not actively noticed by staff. And staff members taking over each others jobs without any clue what to do. Horrible!

✅ Verified Review | My American Airlines flight was cancelled out of this airport yesterday. And the poorly trained airport staff stood around and did nothing but chat with each other. It was as if nothing like this had ever happened there before. The airport is huge and has poor signage. Few staffers could give clear directions or instructions in either English or Spanish. My luggage was nearly lost. I had to track it down myself. A supervisor interrupted a staffer who was rebooking me and made him stop. I finally called the US and got a new ticket. I was delayed for 24 hours. God forbid a fire or other big emergency would happen here. No one would have a clue how to react. Barcelona itself is a great city but avoid flying in or out. Try Madrid.
