“the seat I would give zero”

Not Verified | I had a round trip Calgary-Barcelona-Calgary, on Westjet Dreamliner. Sitting in a middle row economy class, it was a nightmare. I'm 5'3, 110 pound, yet I felt if I was in a cattle car, incredible tight, jammed in, not being able to reach my bag/purse under seat. In case of an emergency, the middle row is a death row. No way to get out. No way to have access to the emergency kit. I'm very disappointed. Great to have all kind of entertainment, but if the seat in front of me laid back, the screen is literally in my face, no way to see it sharply, tried it with or without glasses. Other airline company also have this beautiful aircraft Dreamliner, but they don't jammed the economy class the horrible way how Westjet does. In Canada, every public place has a safety limit, how many people it can accommodate. I wonder, how come, airplanes don't have any limit, for the profit they put just as many as they can or they want. The ticket was expensive, the service was OK, for the seat I would give zero. I'm a long time Westjet customer since the beginning of the company, or I was, since I will never fly with Westjet again. Never.

"I won't fly with Westjet again"

Trip Verified |   Flight form Vancouver to Calgary delayed so we missed the flight from Calgary to London Gatwick. Westjet flew us to Paris (where they lost our luggage) and a flight to Heathrow (not Gatwick). On arrival in Paris, the flight to Heathrow was cancelled so we had to stay at an airport hotel overnight with no luggage. Next day we flew to Heathrow (still no luggage) and had to buy bus tickets to Gatwick. Westjet won't even reimburse us for the bus ticket saying the original delay was due to a safety issue, which means we do not qualify for any compensation. The Canadian Transportation Agency guidelines say otherwise ! So I won't fly with Westjet again, nor would I recommend anyone else to. Their lack of customer care is appalling. Food on the plane was the worst I've ever experienced. They clearly do not care what any customer thinks.

“have never experienced such poor service”

Trip Verified | The flight to Calgary was aboard a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The main meal was served just after take off along with a plastic beaker of wine. The meal was inside a small paper container the size of a large matchbox and consisted of one small piece of meat some soggy beans and a dollop of potato, it was accompanied with a smaller container of salad and an even smaller container of what looked like chocolate mousse. I ate the salad and the mousse, the main meal looked and smelt inedible. My wife only ate the mousse as she has a severe allergy issue and was not aware of the ingredients. When I looked around the cabin it was obvious other passengers were aware of the awful food and had brought their owns meals with them. As this was a 9 hour flight I thought it won’t be long before before the cabin crew came around with other refreshments, how wrong I was. The crew disappeared to their quarters at the rear of the plane not to be seen for several hours apart from bringing round one small cup of water. As the flight neared its end the crew reappeared with a "folded pizza”, it was a soggy doughy item that was disgusting. I asked if there was something else and bluntly told “no”. The return flights were just as bad, luckily the domestic flight from Vancouver to Calgary was short, but as we were just about to land in Calgary our other flight was already boarding. We had no time for the washroom or importantly to get some decent food for the next flight. We had to run from arrivals to departures where the other passengers had already boarded. When we got to our seats all the overhead lockers were full and we was told to put our bags, coats and other items under the front seat. This left no leg room and we sat cramped up for 8 hours. The meal when it came around was just as inedible as the meal on the first flight out. When I mentioned poor food to other passengers they agreed and said “that’s what it's like now”. When serving the wine the plane hit some bad turbulence, the crew did not stop serving and when it came for my wine to be given to me it went all over my shirt trousers and the side the plane, I had the raise my voice get tissues to mop up the mess. After serving dinner cabin crew did exactly the same as the first flight out and just disappeared. They again brought around just one offering of water. Before landing the crew brought round a small egg and cheese roll and told straight me off "that’s all there is". I asked another air hostess if there was something available like a breakfast bar and she snapped “no that’s it”. I left the flight feeling light headed through lack of food and drink, something I have never done before. At no time did you feel that you could ask the crew on any of the flights for anything. The crew were offish, unapproachable and gave you the impression they didn’t want to be there. I have flown all over the world many times with most of the different airlines and have never experienced such poor service or such awful food. If this airline cannot provide enough edible food or enough water for the journey they should make that clear in their advertising so passengers can provide their own food and water or fly with a more credible airline. Whilst the cramped seating arrangement for a short domestic flight is to be expected I found the same cramped conditions unreasonable for a long flight. I have complained to the airline and received a standard reply apologising.

"worst customer service"

Not Verified | The worst customer service I had experienced in my years air travel. Your flight attendant are the Ambassador of the company. The flight attendants poor customer interaction with the passengers stood out. I asked for another single biscuit and FA snapped back "didn't you have one? I was hungry.". I am not sure this is the customer service training culture of WestJet to cut costs. If it is, then WestJet is scraping the barrel. We were served with the smallest, tiniest portion of food that you can fit in a tray. Why bother, WestJet. You only tarnished your name. Good riddance. This is my first and last flight with WestJet.

"never should have let us board"

Not Verified | My husband is Jamaican, he's a US Permanent Residency, I am American, prior to leaving Phoenix, I asked if my husband was OK to travel with his US Visa, I was told, he was. When we arrived in Paris, they would not let my husband enter and was told, the airline never should have let us board without a France visa! They would not even return us home at no charge, we spent the night on the airport floor before purchasing tickets to fly home the following day. My husband was treated like a criminal for entering Paris without a Visa. I was treated with hatred for not knowing he needed a visa!

"showed an exceptional customer service2

Trip Verified | I tried to upload this review using the New York JFK wi-fi internet, but no luck. My flight was WS 1681. At the time I was on the check-in line up, there was a customer (lady) with her young boy, he was suffering an anxiety attack, yelling and moving uncontrollably. She was at #9 on the line. The situation lasted 30-40 minutes, until an air hostess named Jassodra, stepped out of her booth and asked the lady with the child to move out of the line and check in with her after the current customer. Jassodra did what I was hoping someone could do during that long time waiting. Then, the kid stopped the yelling. Jassodra showed an exceptional customer service, prioritizing people with special needs. I was amazed of the fact that before her, no one from the airline even paid attention to the situation like nothing was happening. I'll be writing an email to the airline with this positive comment on their customer service and will suggest improvement of the service in this cases.

"100% satisfied with WestJet's service"

Trip Verified | Was 100% satisfied with WestJet's service. Had contact with their reservations center and the agent looked closely at my booking and volunteered germane information without my having to probe. Flight services were good too. Airport agents efficient and professional. Why is it so hard for US carriers to get anything right? Much better than Air Canada.

"two services for a 10 hour daytime flight"

Trip Verified | Only two services for a 10 hour daytime flight, completely unacceptable. Pathetic portions and no additional food for sale. Flight attendants openly arguing in the aisle during service. Their systems failed and they refused to recognize my Delta elite status, splitting me from the rest of my party. Great leg room and comfortable seats. The only way they got to 3.

"rest of our experience was not bad"

Trip Verified | My family flew from Vancouver to Cancun via Toronto. On our way home my husband purchased duty free at Cancun He informed the staff that he had a connecting flight in Toronto and we had no checked in luggage. When we got to Toronto the security staff said the duty free bags were not tamper proof and we would have to check them in. They said we would not be charged as it was the fault of duty free. However when my husband went to check in a bag the man at the Westjet desk was very rude and condescending, and insisted that we had to pay. To add insult to injury, when we were at the gate, they were asking for people to check in bags for free due to the plane being so full. When we requested a refund after our return Westjet ‘respectfully’ declined. For us there was nothing respectful about them profiting from a mistake made by duty free. The guys at security were very surprised that we had to pay. Be warned if you buy duty free and you have a connecting flight you may well end up paying a checked baggage fee whether you want to or not. It’s a shame as the rest of our experience was not bad, but this would make me think twice about using Westjet again, and it really wouldn’t have taken much for them to do the right thing.
