"they still have some room to improve"

Trip Verified | Westjet is a growing airline with the fundamentals of being a good airline down but with some work required to reach its full potential. Starting with the positives, the Westjet crew are always kind and helpful. I’m my recent trip, I found that the crew handled my inquiries with ease and professionalism on par with leading airlines. If this review was just about staff and crew than Westjet would easily be the best airline. That said, while Westjet is an overall pleasant airline to fly with, there are some things they could do better with. Firstly, the cabins on Westjet are only average and easily outshone by Delta. Secondly, most of my Westjet flights were late to depart. This did not cause me any problems because the delays were short. Overall, I would recommend flying with Westjet, but that said, they still have some room to improve.

"refused to make changes to my ticket"

Trip Verified | Westjet refused to make changes to my ticket even though I made a mistake and put in the wrong return date. I had to purchase another ticket with a different airline for my return flight home. The customer service agent was unhelpful. So westjet is still going to sell my seat and make money off it but refused to help me out so my money went in vain. I’m going to try by all means never to use the service of Westjet again. They don’t care about their customers loosing their hard earned money.

Trip Verified | Had an issue with a rude agent at westjet customer service. They did nothing to try to accommodate my trip, they rather talk to customers like they are stupid and with no compassion given the misunderstanding coming from they end. Through all the mess the manager at LGA was very understanding and he came with a reasonable solution while still maintaining his professionalism. I applaud him and wish other Westjet staff can take a leaf from Omar's standard and work ethic.

"stuck in Toronto for two days"

Not Verified | Was flying to Orlando via Toronto and missed connection flight due to late departure. Was stuck in Toronto for two days, they put us up in hotel first night and told to come back next day this after standing in lines for four hours. Back next day, told no flight till second day, vouchers but just pay and claim back two rooms £450. Booked on a delta flight £76 for luggage explained I had paid westjet. Told pay or don’t get on plane. Then got to Orlando our six seater van had been given away and had rebook £1300. I didn’t know if you don’t pick up the car or van they cancel your contract. Lost two days holidays and two days villa cost. Coming back we had five hours at Toronto so we thought we had plenty of time but by the time we eventually got our bags through the machine that wasn’t working and stood in a line we were down to the last hour. It was a complete nightmare in Toronto airport

"I will never fly Westjet again"

Trip Verified | I will never fly Westjet again. We booked our flights because they had a direct flight. Our flight to Barcelona was delayed 4 hrs. We didn't leave Toronto until 2:22 a.m. We discovered that our return flight was cancelled while we were waiting to fly out to Barcelona. Westjet never notified us. They wouldn't book us on another flight until our outgoing flight was completed. We called the next day and the only flight available was on Delta to Atlanta with a 5 hour layover. Instead of an 8 hour flight home we had more than 11 flight hours and 5 hrs waiting in Atlanta. We had to agree to the flight because we had to get home but it was far from equitable.

"truly appreciate what you did for us today"

Trip Verified | Westjet truly is a company of people who care. Today we accidentally left our daughters jacket inside the airport, and didn’t notice until we were on the plane. The westjet staff took the time to search (and find!) our daughters jacket, and bring it to us in our seat just before the cabin was secured and we had to take off. Thank you all Westjet team members involved! We truly appreciate what you did for us today.

Trip Verified | My sister and I were flying from Boston, MA to Toronto, ON and then onward to Gatwick, UK. It all started when we got to the airport as suggested 3 hours early. They are open for 2 hours only per day. We waited for an hour to check our luggage. Finally when the one staff member did show, the gentleman checked our luggage all the way through to Gatwick. Well, needless to say it never got there. My sister and I went to submit a claim. Claim number should be emailed to us so we can check the status. Never got that. Here we are in Gatwick with a friend we haven't seen in 8 years and we have to spend our time buying clothes and toiletries and then drive an hour to the airport to see if we can at least see if it was there. We get to the airport to check. We spoke with a woman who at first seemed helpful. Said she would walk us through security to check the luggage so we could see if it was there but first had to bring someone else through. We wait, wait and continue to wait. We see her, making eye contact, trying to keep ourselves in check. My sister went over and she forgot about us. Then she tells us that she doesn't have that clearance. I was so confused, she just did this for someone else! They tell us to come back in 2 hours. We have already spent 2 hours here and this is our vacation! So, we ended up getting a number to the baggage area and the woman on the phone regrettably gave us our claim numbers. I was an inconvenience to her. My sister had a 2 week trip. London first then to Cardiff, Wales. We did not get our luggage for 7 days. When we did, my new large piece of luggage was broken. It would no longer roll and the top handle was coming out. So, I kept all my receipts and am finally home. I went online to submit my reimbursement claim and their online service is "temporarily unavailable" since yesterday. I sent them a contact email regarding this. No confirmation, no email back. I am now on hold for the last 2 hours trying to find out an alternate way to submit for reimbursement.

Trip Verified | Return flight from Vancouver to Halifax. Left late due to awaiting a co-pilot. Landed in Calgary about same time as the plane to Halifax left. They would not hold back that flight to allow us to transfer. About 20 or so of us stranded in Calgary 24 hours to take next day flight. Despite their promise to pay $1000.00 to passengers delayed 9 hours or more, that denied our claim saying it was not their fault. If they cannot staff their company to meet their own schedules, pray tell who is to blame then? If our business failed to meet schedules due to short staffing, that would be on us. What an avoidance of responsibility. Not impressed Westjet!

"canceled our connecting flight"

Trip Verified | While on our first flight, WestJet canceled our connecting flight saying we would never make it when we still had 1 and a half hours to board our connection. They informed us they sold our seats and our next available flight would be the next day 7/30/2022 with a 4.5 hour layover. They told us to leave because it “is not our problem”. Our first plane landed at 5:00pm. The connection they canceled our tickets in left at 8:52pm. Plenty of time. We were supposed to land in LAX, our final destination on 7/29/2022 @ 8:07pm We now will land at our final destination 7/30/2022 @ 4:13pm.
