"never be using WestJet again2
M Karomich (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Let me say that this airline is the worst. I get an email that my flight is cancelled and never sent an updated email for either compensation or new flight information after being told I would get one an hour later. I then spent two hours on the phone waiting for them and then I went to the airport because it was nearby to see if I can get a different flight and they told me no. Will never be using WestJet again.

"Avoid using WestJet"
A Vamari (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | WS460 (Friday) and WS 3162 (Saturday) were canceled now waiting for Monday flight. Kelowna staff were very rude and not clear, They didn't say why the flights were canceled but the news said, it was because the West Jet system was shutdown. This Sat was a chaos at the airports, many people losing their connections and they were very rude. Avoid using WestJet. Air Canada has several flights and you can change if something was wrong

"avoid flying WestJet in the future"
Richard Taylor (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | I purchased two business class tickets and was informed 8 hours prior to departure that the flight was cancelled, rescheduled 26 hours later and my seats were downgraded from business to premium economy. The difference in fares between these two class of seats was between $2-3,000. I applied for a seat downgrade compensation and was granted $680, an amount significantly below the act fare difference. I will avoid flying WestJet in the future.

"go out of their way to aggravate customers"
C Veters (Canada)
Not Verified | WestJet appears to actually go out of their way to aggravate customers by repeatedly hiding behind "company policy". Admittedly I did book a non refundable ticket, with a stopover. I hoped to board in the stopover city omitting the first leg. WestJet "policy" is that you forfeit your entire ticket if you do not catch the flight in the origin city. Based on this experience it will be a long time until I consider flying with this airline in the future.

"going downhill for a while now"
T Lansen (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | WestJet has been going downhill for a while now. So disappointed, my flight was delayed, so unable to make my connecting flight. Arrived at the airport early and would have been able to get on earlier flight and make my connection. The man at the counter said I could get on that flight but he had no ability to change it as it’s computer generated and comes from Calgary. People at the WestJet desk seem to be completely useless and lack common sense to make things work for their costumers. A plane leaves partially full and now a whole bunch of us need to find a hotel and fly the next day.

"gotten worse in the last 3 years"
Joe Hubbard (Canada)
Not Verified | The flight was delayed by 30 minutes and they did not even announce it, but when they did they stated , "we have a plane coming in from somewhere." Following this they requested half of the passengers to get new tickets as their seats had changed because of an "equipment change." I used to swear by WestJet but it has gotten worse in the last 3 years.

"unprofessional and appalling service"
S Halzan (Israel)
✅ Trip Verified | The most rude, horrific, unprofessional and appalling service I ever got in my life! I came in to check in counter and no one was there. I called customer service and no one picks up the call. I stayed there for more than one hour, no one came. I missed the flight. I had to rebook (and paid 150 CAD) and four hours later I came to check in counter and they outright lied to me. They said they were there at the check in counter during all that time - well, they are not very intelligent in their lies. Then they did their best to not let me speak, to turn their back whenever I tried to speak to them.. Conceal their identity when I requested it to complain. To make up excuses to not let me check in. I obviously didn’t give up. Yet, this is a group of rude, unprofessional, liars, incompetent people.

"obfuscate and frustrate customers"
Eric Seniuk (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | Their claims processes are purposely designed to obfuscate and frustrate customers. The company does this so that when they breach their contract, it becomes so painful to make a claim, and persist in that claim, that WestJet retains windfalls of money from people who give up. It is their intentional strategy to make the customer service line unreachable, even during business hours, due to "technical difficulties". I ended up having an email thread 20 messages long just to claim $196.02 CAD. After months, they might "approve" your payment. It took well over 10 emails to get my approved payment into my bank account. My latest BS from WestJet is that somehow my APPR submission "didn't match a booking record", even though I submitted it correctly. Their system magically converted London-Gatwick to London-Ontario as the arrival airport, even though that is not an error that I made. This APPR claim arose from flight WS0001 that departed on August 25, 2022. It actually made the news because it turned around midair and returned to Calgary. WestJet knew of the mechanical issue before we departed as there was a delay while they tried to fix it. Fearing compensation claims, they tried to complete the flight anyways, putting profits over safety. I actually applaud WestJet's frontline workers. Flight crew, customer service reps - they are not to blame for management's practices.

"reached the dregs of a very large barrel"
Tania Anderson (Canada)
Not Verified | Without a doubt this airline has reached the dregs of a very large barrel. The food was absolutely disgusting. A 7.40hr flight with a stale barely warm what was meant to be a Turkey wrap with two tiny brownies. My husband is a Platinum traveler and was horrified. That should not matter however, the food was beyond below par. The flight is not cheap at $850.00 a pop and this is the filth they should think you should eat. The staff could not give a damn and when asked if there were any snacks on board we were told that they did not know why they had not got any. We were offered a cheap small pack of pretzels or cookies. C'mon WestJet you can do way better than this. Used to be my favorite airline in Canada, now we are considering crossing a boarder to fly international for long distant to avoid them as they are diving into the deep dark of nasty like AC.
