"cancel your flight last-minute"

Not Verified | I’d rather fly Flair. The customer service sucks, from my experience they are overall unaccommodating for things such as helping you get to your destination when they cancel your flight last-minute (less than 4 hours prior to boarding for me), or allowing small personal items meant to go under your seat on the plane, even when you are being kind and patient, after all the workers are just doing their jobs, it’s not their fault airline policies suck.

"So unimpressed with WestJet"

Not Verified | So unimpressed with Westjet. Flew from Las Vegas to Vancouver to Edmonton to Winnipeg. Leaving Las Vegas 50 minutes late. Got into Vancouver where everyone was told that the flight out of Edmonton would wait 5 minutes so the last flight would not be missed. Vancouver lied. The plane left when it was supposed to. They flew everyone to Calgary where the night was spent. Westjet didn't give hotel or food vouchers. They said it wasn't their fault. Who's fault was it then? The customers were dealt horribly by West Jet. Picking up our luggage today from Winnipeg airport. Can't believe how horrible westjet dealt with everyone.

"Great customer service"

Not Verified | Great customer service and Flight Attendants, and they were checking up on us to see if we needed anything. The seats were thin, but comfortable enough. The seat pockets were a bit small though, so I wouldn't put anything too big in them. Plane was clean, and quiet. However, we left 1:30hrs late.

"never flying WestJet again"

Not Verified | After being a loyal Westjet customer and cardholder for 15 years I’ll be cancelling my card and never flying WestJet again. My December 2022 flying experience and the service I received after when submitting claims (that Westjet agents told me to submit) and trying to discuss the responses was horrifying. I’ve never been treated with such disrespect and made to feel so unimportant. What happened to the old WestJet that was proud of their customer service and valued their customers? That feels like it was a lifetime ago.

"do not care about their clients well being"

Trip Verified | We booked a connector flight from Comox to Puerto Vallarta, connecting through Calgary for November 30 th on the 545 a.m. flight. We noticed that several flights earlier on in the week were cancelled so we took a trip out to the Comox airport on the the Monday in the afternoon to find out why the cancellations were happening. The weather was good that day, so we were getting concerned that maybe it was for other reasons. Sure enough we talked to some grounds people who confirmed that they were short staffed and even if it was for weather problems that Comox airport can fly with most bad weather conditions, all but fog. On Monday night I checked my email in the evening with a message sent at 845 p.m. from west Jet saying one of our flights has been cancelled…no specific flight was mentioned. The email said I would receive a message within an hour with explanation. This never happen. I spent several hours on hold with West Jet and speaking to an agent who reassured me that everything was a go. I still pushed for answers as to why I received such an email until she checked with management and confirmed that our flight from Comox was cancelled due to weather. I explained that other flights were cancelled and West Jet was using this tactic to get out of any compensation . She did not offer me a solution to get us to Calgary to make our connection. We had thousands of dollars invested in our holiday with hotels, airfare and travel insurance, so out of desperation would have to accept booking a flight one day prior , with all expenses out of pocket for meals, hotel in Calgary and taxis, and that no compensation would be awarded as this was my own decision. I tried to recover these costs later but was turned down. Not only was this a very stressful event, in my mind was also wrong to the core. At one time this was a very caring company, now it’s all about the bottom line. In my opinion they do not care about their clients well being. This makes me very nervous to ever put trust into this company again. One other thing about all our flights. They were all at least 1-2 hours late leaving at everyone of our 3 departures.

"nothing but an inconvenience"

Not Verified | From both departure to arrival WestJet was nothing but an inconvenience. Even with a 5 hour layover at our first stop, WestJet had managed to delay our flight long enough to miss our second flight. Upon asking at the airport they told us it was late due to their staff. Because of this our total travel time was over 40 hours. It was the worst experience and the only compensation for wasting 15+ hours of my families time was a 30$ voucher for lunch. If you ask me it didn't really compensate for much considering we had to fly all across the country just to make it to Asia. 5 flights and 40+ hours is excessive and all we got was lunch. Upon coming back home WestJet lost not one but four of our bags which wasted again another 2 hours of my time. Moral of the story, I'm never flying WestJet. I would not recommend them. They really need to get their act together.

"not offered very much assistance"

Trip Verified | Overall the service on the flight was great. Kind flight attendants. What I was really annoyed about was as a disabled person travelling with a baby I was not only not offered very much assistance. I was told by a lady at the check in desk that I basically shouldn’t be travelling alone as a disabled person with a baby if I required so much assistance. She said in a sarcastic tone “sorry, we aren’t a personal assistance service.” I was very frustrated as I had a plan to get through the airport with my baby and my husband wasn’t allowed to take me to the gate. Very little sympathy from these people. Very little understanding that people with disabilities work hard to make things work for themselves and we are capable of anything able bodied people can do with the right supports in place. There is no info on their website about the wheelchair assistance at the airport. Then we are told to wait for an airport wheelchair. There should definitely be more employees on wheelchair duties. I waited for over an hour.

"book your flight through any other airline"

Not Verified | I'm not sure if I'm more disappointed by how my flight situation was handled by WestJet employees at the airport or how customer service has since tossed my case around for months, never giving me any sort of answer or compensation. I was flying from Vancouver to LaGuardia with a layover in Toronto. At the Vancouver airport I was told I had to wait until I arrived at the Toronto airport to get my second boarding pass, which I thought was weird but presumed it was because it was technically an International flight. My layover was scheduled to be about 95 minutes, and my first flight landed and we offboarded about 6-7 minutes behind, no big deal. I had to use the bathroom after the first flight but instead headed straight for my second gate to be sure I could get my second boarding pass and nothing else weird happened. There was a huge line at the Toronto airport and it looked like I had to go through security again. After a little while of waiting I started to panic and asked a WestJet employee if I could please get my second boarding pass because my flight was set to start boarding in 15 minutes. The employee informed me there was no way I could get on that flight because I didn't arrive 90 minutes before take off. I explained to her that my connecting flight had just landed and I didn't have any checked luggage and my flight hadn't started boarding yet and she didn't care. I could literally see my gate just beyond the wall too. The employee told me that I could hop on a 4pm flight (it was 8am there) which would've defeated the purpose of my travel. I had to spend $400 on a rental car to get me to my final destination. The WestJet website has no "Contact Us" Information. If you call their phone number there's no extension to click to talk to anyone human. I finally found a Comments Section on their website to explain my issue, and I received an email back months later saying I wrote my comment in the wrong section and if I wanted to talk to a representative I'd have to direct my issue to a different source. This happened twice. WestJet is also affiliated with Delta somehow so I reached out to Delta as well. Both airlines claim the Flight # I had for my flight "wasn't from their airline." I work in customer service so I'm really not one to complain or write negative reviews (this is the only review I've ever written for anything) but If you're still reading this, please book your flight through any other airline. WestJet is a joke.

Trip Verified | I'm very disappointed with WestJet. I had my flight canceled by them on my first trip to Los Angeles. I had to pay at my expense for my hotel stay plus the taxi to get there. I was given vouchers that were no good as well. This was the June flight. I submitted my expense plus plane ticket information on their website, at least 4 times I sent all the information then I got an email from them that it was the wrong email I sent it to. They sent me the email to send it all to again so I did, its been over 6 months and they refuse to give me a reimbursement for my expenses. I've sent my information at least 24 times and I haven't heard anything back. I'm disgusted and will not be flying WestJet anymore. Still hoping for my 250 dollar hotel stay but highly doubt I'll see a penny. Everyone else on my flight got good vouchers and were told where to go not me I got given the run-around and got nothing but expenses out of my pocket. I took a second flight with WestJet for Christmas but this will be my last ever.

Trip Verified | Our flight attendant Keon was terrific. Not only did he remember us from a previous flight over a month ago but remembered how we liked our cocktails and was friendly with a great sense of humour. He made us feel special & welcome. Great service! Thanks for the great experience.
