"being lied to and neglected"

Trip Verified | Madison to Newark via Chicago. This morning, I arrived at the airport and waited in line to check my bag for 25 minutes. Once I finally got up to the counter the agent at my desk disappeared for another 15 minutes. She finally came back but said I would miss my flight because I was a few minutes late from the checked baggage cutoff time. The agent tried rebooking my ticket for me. I’m not sure if she was new or wasn’t trained on the system well enough because it took her a long time to rebook the ticket to the point where her supervisor had to jump in. Her supervisor told her to push me to the side and said that they would “deal with me later”. I waited another 20 minutes for them to get through the rest of the line. Once I finally got my ticket rebooked, the flight is not only not a direct flight, it’s also supposed to reach my destination 8 hours after my initial flight. First of all, I shouldn’t have had been put on hold just because there’s a long line to get through. Secondly, right before I was pushed to the side, the agent promised to put me on the next possible flight at 11 am. But after being pushed aside, I got put on the 1:50 pm flight. The inconsistency and empty promising is so unacceptable. I am being lied to and neglected by your staff. I have never experienced this with other airlines. Delta next door had the same amount of people in line and they got through the line 30 minutes faster than United. Delta in the past had allowed me to board my airplane still while my baggage goes on the next flight but United would not allow me to do that. I have lost 8 hours of my time to spend with my parents whom I have not seen in 2 years due to the your staff’s incapability to work efficiently. How could you possibly ever replace this valuable time I lost because of your inconsiderate employees. Thanks to United, I will now have 5 hours to cry at the airport. This experience is making me reconsider ever taking a United flight again. Especially seeing that comparison of service quality side by side with Delta.

"very bad quality of service"

Trip Verified | Newark to Cincinnati. Maintains a very bad quality of service in all aspects. Customer service is not at all satisfying nor try to make any convincing to customers. Most delayed airline I have ever seen.

"awful attitudes"

"they were fine"

Trip Verified | Sydney to Newark via Houston. I was happy to book and fly with them because they use the Boeing 787 aircraft on the 14 hour flight to Houston. As an airline, they weren’t amazing, but they were fine. The food was fine, nothing to write home about, and the entertainment was okay, a few too many ‘old’ movies for my liking. The flight attendants were old and a bit abrupt, not overly friendly but not rude. I did notice the seats did not recline back very far, which was not ideal on a flight you have to sleep on. Luckily the middle seat in our row was free so we could spread out a little. Both flights left on time. Would I fly United again? It wouldn’t be my first choice, but I wouldn’t rule it out.

"They are terrible!"

Trip Verified | San Diego to Honolulu. They are terrible! I never leave reviews on anything unless I feel strongly about what I’m reviewing and this is one of those times. Starting out I could tell the day was not going to go well, me and my boyfriend flew from San Diego to Honolulu, with a layover in Los Angeles. The first flight wasn’t bad. it was a small plane and there were no amenities; no WiFi, no complementary drinks or snacks, or anything else. However the flight was less than an hour so I wasn’t expecting much and it was okay. The second flight however was a complete nightmare! We were in the very last row of the plane which may have contributed to our horrible experience but so many other things happened as well. This was a 5 and a half hour flight and there was no WiFi, they had “in flight demand movies” which you needed to watch, so that didn’t work. Also for the first 3 and a half hours of the flight, there was no drink or snack service, at all. The only people who got served were first class. Which I get. Those passengers pay extra for that sort of thing, but other airlines would have served us twice by now. The flight attendants werent worried about the passengers, The flight attendants were all in the back of the plane making fun of passengers, gossiping, etc all of which I can hear since I’m right in front of them. Eventually, I think they received a hint when a few passengers started walking towards the back of the plane and asking them for water, and drinks. Then a line started forming down the aisle of the plane of passengers walking to the back to where all 4 flight attendants were standing. The flight attendants seemed annoyed and irritated that no one was staying seating and the aisle was being blocked, so finally almost 4 hours into the flight the first cart of drinks and snacks was wheeled down and they started serving people. By this time, all the passengers were cranky and irritated by the rude staff and how we were all being treated. The attendants were rolling eyes and huffing and puffing and it was just an all around terrible experience. Not to mention when we were leaving the flight attendants were mocking us on how slow we were and how it doesn’t take that long to get off the plane. There were 86 rows of 3 on this flight, it’s gonna take a minute for everyone to get off. This was just the perfect example of how people who have money got treated immensely better than those in economy. I feel sorry for anyone who was a passenger on this flight! If I could give this a zero I would. This was my first time flying United and it will most certainly be my last.

"never flying United again"

Not Verified | Lima to Houston. Cancelled a 1:30am flight because of a sick pilot. Do you have no back up pilots? Your people told us our next flight would be at the same time the next day. Then you change it to 11:00pm the day after next. Then, to top it all off, they send a bus to pick us up from the hotel at 7 and we arrive at the airport at 8 and none of the lines are open? Its about to be 2 hours before the flight leaves. I am never flying United again, so beyond frustrated.

"so frustrated and angry"

Trip Verified | Flight there was ok. Flight back to Vegas became nightmare. From 12th of January when I suppose to go back home I came back today 2 pm and today is 14th. The worst experience what I had. First flight was delayed weather condition in Chicago where is my connection flight for Vegas - so obviously I will not make it. I cooperate and changing flight for 13th via Washington. I am came in the morning United app didn’t notify me that flight is canceled!,I need to wait 8h for next one. Then that one I delayed. They change me then to American Airlines convincing me that I will make it like that. Then that flight was late 30 minutes and then I didn’t make it again on my connection!!! So now it’s already 9 pm, next flight is in the morning on 14th of January from Philadelphia and United phone agent is telling me that they don’t know if they can provide me a hotel! Luckily nice woman name who is working there on United gates in Philadelphia helped me that I can have where to sleep that night. She is the only normal person with whom I spoke from United. I forgot to say when I wanted to complain and I did complain to manager of United in Harrisburg she answered me: well you chose by yourself to fly with United. That is not cool. Was so so frustrated and angry.

"Would not recommend"

Not Verified | Houston to Colorado Springs. Flight was delayed due to an issue with the emergency brake. It took 30 minutes to figure this out before they made everyone get off the plane. Said it would be up to an hour delay. Eventually they switched planes. After 1.5 hours we boarded the new plane. We sat on the runway for about 45 minutes before taking off. Terrible experience with United Airlines. Would not recommend flying with them.

"experience truly upsetting"

Trip Verified | Miami to Zurich, I wonder why their ratings are to the lowest. My experience with United truly upsetting and so much of a disappointment. Never received a compensation or refund after they left us in Rome Fiumicino Airport after flight was cancelled without a notification, they took our money and goodbye.

"needs more check in assistance"

Not Verified | Honolulu to Los Angeles. United Airlines needs more check in assistance at HNL. I stood at a self check in screen for 30 minutes waiting for assistance. At this point I couldn't check my bags. The first assistant to help me forgot about me. Another 20 minutes pass and I have missed my flight and they had to book me on an American Airlines flight. In summary they cut costs on man power and it costs them man hours and customer satisfaction in the end.
