Trip Verified | Cleveland to Newark. United Airlines does not update their customers. Does not follow through on the expectations that they set. Their employees put blame on other employees at corporate or other locations. I fly United 6 times a month and they are delayed 5 out of the 6 times. If there was another airline I would use it 1st

"unorganized, unprofessional"

Trip Verified | I waited in line, just to print my tag for my bag for over 2 hours! I already had my ticket and paid for my bag! I and everyone around me missed our flights. And the best they could do is fly me out tomorrow with no refund! No apologies...nothing! There are no words how how unorganized, unprofessional, and unprepared they were!!

"never be flying United again"

Trip Verified | Phoenix to Cincinnati via Chicago. This was by far the worst experience I've had dealing with an airline. I was scheduled to leave Phoenix and head back to Cincinnati, but my flight ended up being delayed over 24 hours. I know delays happen and sometimes there is little that can be done, but I had just had my wallet stolen the night before, had no money or ID, and really needed to get home. Because of the long delay, I was going to have to sleep in the airport that night, and then sleep in the Chicago airport the next night, with no money for food (wallet stolen). I felt the first agents at the desk were at least trying to be helpful after I explained my situation, but due to the long line they had to leave before I could find an earlier flight. Before leaving, they requested to have a supervisor come to the desk to see if there were any exceptions that could be made. The next agent I worked with was God awful and extremely insensitive. After again explaining my situation, I told her the previous agent was trying to help me find an earlier flight, either via united or another airline, to no avail. She said that agent should have never looked for another flight because they were not supposed to change anything, no exceptions. We spoke a little more, but she was of little help, and even had the audacity to joke around at my situation. It was infuriating. Eventually a supervisor showed up, but when I explained to him what was going on he asked the agent if they looked at any other airlines to see if there was anything that can be done, to which she replied she checked, but there was nothing available. This was right after she told me she wouldn't look because she couldn't change anything if she wanted to.... I eventually had to sleep in the airport until the flight later on in the day(which was delayed 1 more time). Luckily I found a flight that night from Chicago to Cincinnati via another airline so I didn't have to sleep in another airport overnight again, but I was severely underwhelmed with the help I received from United. I didn't understand why my flight was delayed for so long when I was able to find a flight so quickly with another airline. They offered no compensation, and the fact that the agent made several jokes about it made things so much worse. I along with many others that faced this long delay will never be flying United again.

"the best trip I had"

Trip Verified | Denver to Los Angeles. This was the first time I flown United Airlines, and the best trip I had. Not that much more expensive but worth the extra little bit of money I paid, comfortable very friendly crew that helped me throughout the whole trip, super fast check-in loved watching a movie the whole way there made my trip so comfortable, seats were fabulous had plenty of room.

"delayed and then cancelled"

Trip Verified | Jacksonville to Washington. I think I won't ever fly domestic economy flights by United again. On the way to Jacksonville from Newark the flight was delayed for 3hrs so my car rental was closed by the time we arrived. On the way back the flight was first delayed and then cancelled. Too much.

Trip Verified | Arkansas to New York. Booked a combo flight via Expedia with Delta and UA for this week. My sister had an unexpected health emergency last week in NC. AA was the only airlines that responded swiftly with emergency pricing - we booked and flew out last Saturday and returned to AR this weekend. Remember - this was an emergency and unexpected. We didn’t want to use additional vacation this week for this planned trip (cousin’s high school graduation in AL). Delta approved the exception and let us use it this August for our anniversary trip. UA said no exceptions - which I bet is a lie - if we were the right people it would have been approved for the exception. Don’t fly UA - no compassion or understanding.

"disappointed with this airline"

Trip Verified | Denver to Omaha. I don’t normally write reviews, but today has been one for the books. Not only isn’t it clear why we had multiple delays, but no one (not even the pilots) know what’s going on. I got a plethora of messages saying I had a delay for unknown reasons (which I’m understanding of), but when it finally came time to board at the gate they had told us, they had us go to entirely different terminal, last minute. When I sprinted across the airport, I arrived at a gate with the description of Fort Lauderdale as the destination. The workers and guests included had no idea what was going on. Super disappointed that I had to pay for a carryon size bag and the constant contradiction that is their communication. Super disappointed with this airline.

"most amazing customer service"

Trip Verified | Dallas to Los Angeles via Houston. If there were 10 stars I would give it to United. They got my son on a plane so he was not stuck in the airport over night. He flew in from Managua on American Airlines and because they had cancelled so many flights he was stuck in DFW. He had a ticket the next morning on United Airlines. He went over to the United Club lounge to wait until they closed and then he was going to go sleep at the gate and wait for his 5:00 am flight. The agents were not comfortable with him doing this. So Denise and Michelle sprung into action calling the manager Vincent and he put Sebastian on the plane. They went so far as to give another passenger a voucher for the next flight so my son could get home safely. This was the most amazing customer service we have experienced ever. We are so gracious and will always fly United. Unprecedented customer care and service by far!!!! We wish we could hug these 3 people. Thank you.

"$130 for a checked bag"

Trip Verified | United is terrible. Their systems don't work with any booking agencies or other airlines. Had to pay $130 for a checked bag that they didn't put on my next two flights. I can't believe their lack of customer service. I'll drive before I take another United flight.

"never fly with United Airlines again"

Trip Verified | United Airline has completely failed us during each leg of our trip from the US to Europe. Not only did they cancel our connecting flight from Brussel to Budapest due to an inexplicable 'scheduled change' but they did not book us on another flight. If we had no caught this ahead of time, we would have been stranded in Brussels. After calling United Airlines and speaking to their customer service department, they informed me that this 'scheduled change' was not their fault and therefore they were not entitled to find a solution for us. After spending 2 hours on the phone with them, they finally agreed to book us new flights so that we could reach our final destinations at the beginning and the ending of our trip. For 2 hours United Airlines attempted to book us on flights with different returning dates or routes with extreme layovers (over 10 hours) and I had to fight with them to finally get a travel itinerary that was almost similar to the original travel itinerary that we paid for. The customer service team was extremely rude and reminded me throughout the call that this was a courtesy they were performing that they would not do it for me again. On top of all the pre-flight chaos, the flight itself was extremely uncomfortable and the crew was rude. When we finally began to board our return flights back to the US there was no information about our flight anywhere within the Munich Airport and we had to ask 5 people working at the airport before we were told where the United Airline gates are located. Because it seems that United Airlines has a pattern of causing stress and chaos for their customers it was no surprise that our boarding passes did not include our Gate information. The Munich airport also treats United Airlines extremely poorly and the terminal in which all of the gates are located is extremely bare bones (only a restroom). Once you enter the terminal, after crossing 4 checkpoints, you are not permitted to exit back into the rest of the airport where the shops and restaurants are located. This is extremely uncomfortable when United Airlines has booked you a flight with a 5-hour layover in the early morning hours. Finally, while we waited during our layover in Munich, we attempted to check-in for our next United Airlines flight (IAD to CHS) but the mobile app was unresponsive. When we were finally able to check-in via my laptop, we were told that we have to pay for our checked bags AND our carry on bags. This was not mentioned to us at any time during my 2 hours call with customer service or listed in any confirmation emails. To say that this is one of the worst, if not the worst, airline in the skies in a complete understatement. I will never fly with United Airlines again regardless of the conditions for which I am traveling. I wouldn't even fly United again if the ticket was free. Shame on you United Airlines.
