✅ Trip Verified | I was told by a United Airlines employee that the plane would wait for everyone that was in the security line at that time, I got to my gate and saw the plane just sitting there but they would not let me board, because of this I am out hundreds of dollars and I might miss my Grandmothers funeral. This is the worst airline I have ever had the dissatisfaction of using - the security line was about an hour wait. They wouldn’t let me board I had to buy another ticket from Southwest and their security line in the same airport was about a 5 minute wait

Not Verified | By far the worst travel experience I have ever had. I have flown with United before and everything went fine but that's because all my flights were on time and I didn't have to deal with customer service. Yesterday 7/16/19 I was flying from SAN to OKC with a layover in DEN. Due to my flight leaving SAN late and then our plane having to "do S shapes in the sky to let other planes land ahead of us" I missed my connecting flight. I get it, things happen but the way United handled it was absolutely ridiculous. They canceled the second leg of my flight and refunded me $178 (I paid $450 for my flight including bags) without my consent. Then I was told since they did that the history of my ticket was out of their system so the ONLY way for me to be able to fly out of Denver was to buy another ticket. That would have been fine if there were tickets that would get me to OKC for $178 the same amount they refunded me for but of course there wasn't, they wanted me to pay $620 for a ticket not including bags which I had two that needed checked. After standing in line for an hour and then arguing with them for 2 hours telling them that the logic literally makes no sense at all, they booked me a flight to leave today for $318. Still had to pay for it which I will be fighting it once I get to OKC. After being at customer service for 3 hours everything was closed, they did not offer a food voucher or even simply a bottle of water. I had to sleep on the floor of the DEN airport. On top of that only one out of the three employees that "helped" me was actually helpful (the fact that it took two hours for her to do anything aside). Other employees were useless and completely rude- threw his hands up and walked away in the middle of my sentence because I was questioning how their logic makes any sense at all. Needless to say I will never fly this airline again. If I could give them no stars I would.

✅ Trip Verified | I have never been so disappointed in an airline. Not only was our flight delayed by 7 hours, we never received any updates about anything and no one from the airline knew what was going on. We almost missed the flight that we got moved to because no one bothered to inform us about it. When we asked 5 different people about whether or not out luggage will be on the plane, we were told yes only to find out upon arrival that it was still back in our connecting city. They then promised to have it delivered within 24 hours, and once again, that was incorrect. 36 hours later, I received a soaking wet suitcase and no apology. It has been almost 2 months since the incident and we are still waiting for someone to reimburse us for the flight as well as the items that we had to buy to manage 36 hours without our stuff. Customer service has been helpless and no one cares. I will never fly United and their $200 travel certificates are a joke since we spent $700 on tickets. Their employees need to be trained in better customer service because their attitudes are unacceptable.

✅ Trip Verified | This is the first time I have flown the new Polaris Business Class on an international route SFO/PVG, Boeing 787 Dreamliner. I have flown back and forth to Asia many times on other Asian carriers, 4 times in the last year. Check-in in San Francisco was quick and efficient. I was given a priority pass for the security line which helped bypass the long lines. The Polaris business class lounge at SFO is one of the best in the world. Boarding the flight was on time with a separate line for business class. The flight attendants were very welcoming and professional. The business class seating on the Dreamliner was 2x2x2, all with double pods. There is some degree of separation. The seats were comfortable, but in the fully flat bed configuration, my feet were touching against the end of the pod in a small opening which cramped my feet together and I am 5'10" tall. A taller person would find this very uncomfortable. I was sitting in 3B and I am a million miler flown on United. However, my first choice meal selection was not available as they had run out? The IFE selection is excellent, one of the best in the industry, but the television screen is fixed to the seat in front of you and cannot be tilted or moved. If you recline your seat and are looking at the screen at an angle, the quality of the screen diminishes and looses color and contrast. The overall trip was comfortable and ontime. I would have to say the flight was good, but not great. The Asian carriers flying the same route offer a much higher level of privacy with individual pods and larger beds and the quality and selection of food and service is outstanding.

"Customer service is atrocious"

Not Verified | Houston to Norfolk. Customer service with United Airlines is atrocious! They have called me 6 times since I booked my son's flight on Saturday. I have used them for his unaccompanied minor flights for summer visitation for years as they have a direct route. I have always paid the unaccompanied minor fee the week of the flight as this is easier on my budget. Apparently this policy has changed unbeknownst to me. I verified at the time of the purchase of the ticket that I could in fact pay for the fee later and the manager said this was fine. This was of course not documented as were none of my 6 conversations that followed. They repeatedly asked me the same questions and I gave them the same answers day after day with no results. They refused to send me an email receipt for the ticket that I had paid for until the unaccompanied minor fee was paid. I will be using a different airline no matter the price difference. This has eaten up hours of my time due to horrible communication and customer service. If they had communicated a policy change in the first place I would have either paid for the entire thing at once or shopped for another ticket.

✅ Trip Verified | I was ticketed to fly to India by Lufthansa with 2 Pieces of baggage as check-in. The first leg was from Los Angeles to Washington and United refused to allow me to check in two baggage unless I pay $100 for each baggage. After showing the ticket and the routing which clearly shows that I am allowed 2 Piece of luggage the supervisor at LAX threatened me with not allowing me to board unless I pay the extra money for the second luggage. The customer service in United Airlines is even worst and refused my refund even after providing the ticket evidence.

Not Verified | Worst experience I have even encountered on an airline. I have been at the airport for 48 hrs now and have 4 cancelled flights. I have completely lost 2 days of vacation that I cannot get back and have currently been sitting at the airport since 6.30am and the plane has been parked out front till now and what do you no they now have to change the oil! Are you kidding me? Do not book this airline as it is a waste of money and of your time! If I could give it a 0 out of 10 I would!

✅ Trip Verified | Omaha to Chicago. 1055 flight cancelled. We'll try and get your group of 11 on our 321 flight. Delayed several times. Boarded plane to park us on the tarmac for 45 minutes. Offered zero compensation for food, hotel, nothing. Absolutely the worst I've ever experienced. Fly Delta. The extra money is worth it.

✅ Trip Verified | Newark to Presque Ile. United is by far the worst airline I have ever flown on. My trip started out being delayed out of Newark because of some mechanical issues. I am a TSA pre check member and by far United cannot get their act together. Tried printing my ticket out 3 times and it will not show my precheck. You need to work on your system. I dont ha e an issue with any other airline I fly. Your customer service was terrible in Newark. I will never fly United Airlines again.
