"price fixing scheme"

Trip Verified | San Diego to San Francisco. United’s price fixing scheme with its partners stifle competition and at consumers expense. Trying to fly from sfo to yyz cost was $694 on the 11 pm red eye one way. To take that same route but starting in SAN and connecting in SFO on the same exact flight for the 694, cost only $200. Once again proving that these so called alliances are excuses to price fix with competitors nearly as bad as the cable companies and phone companies in the USA. As for the flight well the SAN flight was easy and pleasant considering more than half the plane was empty. SFO to Toronto? 1/3 empty, meaning the scam for the direct flight certainly out to gouge at my pocket.

"overall was great for the price"

Not Verified | United shines when flying out or into a hub to/from international. Flew Business out of SFO to FRA through United with my parents. Flew Economy plus back from FRA to SFO. Business was wonderful. Polaris lounge was very professional and kind, could have been a little more attentive though. Friendly flight attendants and great food. We got to chat with a friendly pilot for a while and got complimentary drinks. Was able to upgrade to business with my Chase miles credit card. Economy Plus was a little worse of course, but overall was great for the price. My seat was clean, no fingerprints on my entertainment system or junk on the remote, which is usual for me when I fly domestic with American or United.

"I do not like United!"

Trip Verified | Calgary to San Francisco. I do not like United! United app sucks. Didnt seem to work when checking in. Once checked in. Tickets didn't have seat row or number. Had to get new tickets printed out for my wife and me at the gate. Couldn't sit together and she is 4 months pregnant. Workers were no help and don't care about my problems. Never going with united again!

"Pathetic excuse for an airline"

Trip Verified | Denver to Oklahoma City. Pathetic excuse for an airline. Decided to fly with United both to our destination and back home. Both flights were cancelled, once due to a repair needed to be made on the plane which was never able to be completed and then again on the way home because their whole flight crew called in sick? It seems extremely unlikely that an entire flight crew would call in sick all at once, and they should have had a back-up plan in place ready for this ridiculous event. This airline has single-handedly influenced me to never fly anywhere again where I could just drive instead. United Airlines must be run by extremely incompetent people to allow for this to happen. 3/10 stars is giving this airline too much credit, I would rather walk than get on another United flight. Dreadful experience both ways, I beg you all to not waste your time with United.

"the most horrid food I have ever tasted"

NotVerified | Los Angeles to Melbourne. On our return flight to Australia of 16hrs we were served up with the most horrid food I have ever tasted. The main meal was small and tasted terrible. The snack some hours later consisted of a bread roll with an unknown filling. The roll was like it was a week old and I think it was a piece of cheese and was rock hard and very dry. The attendants did not ask in between if we wanted tea or coffee but only supplied water. Not the friendliest personalities. Woke me up while sleeping for a glass of water. The toilets were dirty and toilet paper was all over the floor and not cleaned during the flight. Will not fly with United again.

"never fly with United ever again!"

Not Verified | Los Angeles to Houston. I will never fly with United ever again! Yesterday, we were delayed boarding the plane, then had to get off and wait 2 hours to board back on. Then, we sat on the plane for about 30 min after they said we were going to begin moving onto the runway. We then moved onto the runway and then had to wait for something else the crew had to check, which about 15 more minutes. My TV in front of me also was inoperable, so my friend and I used their TV. Well, we tried, but the aux for the headphones was not working properly and we could not use the TV. Then once we got off the plane, apparently when we so happened to book our hotel in Houston from L.A., it never actually got booked. So we had to book it at Houston. Then we got two free meal vouchers. Which, I thank you for that, but, it was late at night and I didn't know that all of the restaurants closed at 10pm, so once I was ready, I went up to order and they were closed. Even the self serve and self pay stand was closed! Then we went to pick up our bags at the baggage claim. We were not told which carousel to go to, so we were just wandering around the building looking for our bags, until someone finally brought them over from outside the building. Absolutely no communication with associates or to passengers. We also had to stay the night in Houston. Thankfully they gave us a free night at a hotel. We then went out to wait for the shuttle to go to the hotel, and we sat there for a good 20 minutes or so until we decided to take an Uber because they were taking way too long. In the morning, while going through security, I had already stepped through the scanner and had gotten my items that were in the tray and was just waiting for my bookbag. It was still in the scanner and then got pulled off to the side and it just sat there for a good 15 minutes when someone finally brought it over just to look through it and give it back. I had no trouble going through security with the same airline, the flight before this with the exact same objects that were in the bag. And check-out from the hotel was at 12pm and our flight wasn't until 6:30pm, so we had to wait in the airport all day when we could have stayed at the hotel for a few more hours and relaxed. Later, it was almost time to start boarding, and we are told there is a 2 hour delay because the crew/captain was not there yet. Thankfully it got moved up to 6:50 and we finally left around 7pm and arrived in Dayton around 9:30pm with no trouble. Everyone was nice, just, no one knows what they are doing and do not have any communication. Which is most likely why there are so many problems, not just with this flight but with many others. I’m even having trouble trying to send this review on their website. We flew with Delta on our way to L.A. with absolutely no problems. Bottom line is, this airline sucks, and you will never be seeing me again.

"United did good on this one"

Trip Verified | San Francisco to Singapore. Very Comfortable. I usually fly United on domestic routes. As I was now flying United on an international route for the first time, I was not sure what to expect. First, my inbound flight was late and i had to run from a domestic gate to the international terminal in SFO. The airline knew this and i was very surprised (and relieved) that they waited for us. After settling in, the flight took off and it was a very pleasant 18 hours. The aircraft was relatively new but the main positive were the flight attendants. They were all polite and basically did a good job looking after everyone. The flight served two meals and a light snack on this long flight. All three were tasty and reasonable proportions. The in-flight entertainment was also pretty good - i had no problem in choosing good movies to watch and catch up. All in all, a very nice and comfortable flight. In this age where we all report unpleasant service very fast, I am delighted to report that United did good on this one!

Trip Verified | Chicago to Tampa. Terrible that you can buy 2 tickets and NOT sit next to your traveling partner. What is wrong with United Airlines? Just trying to get all the money you can from us. Such a disgrace. Will never fly United again.

"attendant became louder and ruder"

Trip Verified | Houston to Aruba. By far rudest flight attendant I have encountered. Yelling at customers because they put their bags in the over head compartment the wrong way, then when customer was not understanding what she meant, the attendant became louder and ruder. When she was confronted said it is not her job to help the ppl on the plane. I will never fly United again.

"very attentive and polite to all passengers"

Trip Verified | London Heathrow to Houston. I have just flown with United Airlines for the first time and I found the flight to be as good as or better than any other airline I’ve flown on including Singapore Airlines and Cathay. The flight was on time, and the London based crew were very attentive and polite to all passengers. I’d definitely recommend them for Transatlantic flights.
