"have been nothing but a long long wait"

Trip Verified | This airline continually is unable to schedule takeoffs, landings and taxiing to the gate without a wait of minimum 30 minutes to 4 hours. Every flight that I have flown this year - 3 or 4 on United have been nothing but a long long wait. However, other airlines, namely Southwest and Alaska (6 flights), don’t have a timing problem. I am asking you all to boycott United, until they learn to put their customers first. United could not care if we sit for hours on a runway either waiting to take off or waiting to get to a gate. Let’s give our money to the airlines that respect us and treat us well.

"it was the worst experience"

Trip Verified | Paris to Santo Domingo via Newark. For me it was the worst experience of my life a real poison that managed to spoil my vacation. I only want to go home so I am exhausted with these problems. For a first time with them I'm shocked and I never had this problem with any other company. Delays of 5 hours (4 hours to wait in the plane to get us out of the plane at the 5th hour) but it's not all the excitement is that my suitcase is lost or late for now I do not know not. Everyone with their suitcases except me ... for the delay every hour I received an SMS informing me of the change and the continuity of the delay was A nightmare. As far as my suitcase is concerned, everything in medicine etc is very important because here no French pharmacy and prescription in the bag.

"Worst airline I've ever flown"

Not Verified | Worst airline I've ever flown. United used to be an average, run of the mill US Airline. Starting a few years ago they began charging for every little thing, their customer service tanked and their ability to check people in and have flights arrive on time is abysmal. After my last terrible experience with a 5 hour delay with no reason given, I swore to never fly United again. Unfortunately for this trip, the airline I booked with changed schedules that no longer accommodated my trip. I booked through Priceline and the ticket was through United. United is one of the only major airlines that skimps on meals/snacks in the air. If you want more than water, pull out your credit card. They are also one of the only major airlines that have a 9"x14" carry on size. Sure, almost all airlines charge you for checked baggage but they also allow you to bring a carry on that you can fit things in. Unless you can pack in a briefcase you'll be paying United's $60 fee for ONE bag. United has NO in flight entertainment. Unless of course you want to pay extra for that. Their leg room is ridiculous, except they did move around some seats on a few of their planes recently so that there are few rows with extra leg room. And you can pay extra for that. Did you want your flight to dependably arrive on time? Too bad you can't pay extra for that. Unless the stars align, you're SOL if you're flying United. Lesson learned, I will never book through Priceline again on the off chance that I get assigned a flight through United.

"Such poor customer service"

Trip Verified | Austin to Houston. There was a male flight attendant who was working the first class section on this flight. As I boarded the plane, he asked me if I could wait while he delivered water to the first class customers. Little did he know that I was actually not feeling very well at all. I replied with, “that’s great.” He then came back and said, “oh, do you have a problem with that?” I could not believe how extremely rude he was. Such poor customer service. After the flight, he told me to “have a wonderful day” using what appeared to be a very sarcastic tone. I most definitely did not appreciate the way this flight attendant spoke to me. I understand that he could have been having a bad day. They happen to all of us. However, kindness is key. I am sure he has potential to be a great employee; I just hope he is given the opportunity to see how he treated me and made me feel.

"It is miserable every time"

Not Verified | Newark to Norfolk. This is maybe my 4th time flying with United. Today they switched the gate because the plane had “maintenance” issues (not a huge deal). This was followed by putting us on another aircraft, boarding then sitting for 1 1/2 hours because one of the crew had an problem with his iPad. While sitting on the plane for an hour and a half there was a non stop high pitched screeching coming from that plane that was concerning and irritating to everyone on board this very tiny plane. I have never had a good experience with a United and only fly with them when it is absolutely necessary for my travel plans. It is miserable every time. I would not recommend to anyone. My flight has no option for entertainment such as a tv screen.

"Another good experience"

Trip Verified | Newark to Dublin. Another good experience with united. On time, clean comfortable factory fresh 787. Even the economy meals were decent. Baggage arrived timely. Only complaint is lack of seating at gates in newark, all available space now taken by revenue generating restaurants. I have been a long time CO and then US flyer, and have had years of overwhelmingly good experiences. I just don't get the hate.

"employees at United are very rude!"

Not Verified | My husband and I had the exact same carry on bags. No problem with them fitting in the overhead bin. The person taking carry on bags insisted on taking my bag when I assured him it would fit. My husband was allowed to keep his bag identical to mine and placed it in the overhead bin with no problem. The employees at United are very rude! I can’t stand this airline I only use it because it is one of the few airlines out of Palm Springs!

"worst experience I have had"

Trip Verified | Newark to Melbourne via Los Angeles. This is the worst experience I have had with an airline. Too begin with, Newark airport is the worst airport in America. After arriving 2 hours early for my flight I only just made my flight, there was only ONE single united employee behind the desk, it took me an hour to check in my bags. Then there is the fact that it took another hour to wait in line just to get through customs because of the horrendous system at Newark international. But this is not even my main complaint, once on the plane we waited a total of 5 hours on the tarmac before the plane took off to LA. I have never in my life heard of people waiting this long to take off. Even when we pulled back into the gate after 3 hours stuck on the plane, we were told not to leave because if we did and the plane was ready to go, they would leave without us. This experience only gets worse. Because we were not taking off the flight attendants refused to serve any food meals. Because I had planned to buy food before my flight and couldn’t because the of the agonising wait time at the airport, I had not eaten a proper meal in 12 hours. I was forced to remain in basically inhumane conditions unable to eat, starving for the longest time in my life. Once the plane finally left the airport, it was inevitable that the only hot meal they had available was a hotdog and due to the terrible service, they ran out of them very quickly (most people didn’t get a meal). Once I finally arrived in Los Angeles, United supplied those that missed their connecting flights new tickets. My new flight is now 18 hours from the time I arrived in LA. I have never waited this long for a new flight in my life. I have travelled South America and even in impoverished countries with low budget flights, I was NEVER EVER forced to wait so long for another flight. On top of this, we were given only $30 dollars for meal vouchers. That equates to 1 meal and a snack in Los Angeles, so how does united expect you to survive a full day on only 1 meal? The truth is that they don’t! They expect you to pay for your own food and drinks while you wait for a flight that they messed up. When I asked for at least more food vouchers I was told that it was “against policy” to give more and the lead manager apologised for the “embarrassing ” customer service from United. Even your own employees understand how embarrassing this excuse for an airline is. To compensate me for the fact I am now missing a family event, they offered a measly 100-dollar voucher on the next flight I decide to take with the company. The further problem with this pathetic severance for this awful experience is that it expires within a year! So you have a deadline to fly again with this tragic airline. I’m writing all this because you should know that I will not be accepting the horrible service and “apology” I have received. Nobody deserves to be forced through the conditions you put your customers in. I wouldn’t put my worst enemy through this experience. The Newark to Melbourne via Los Angeles. Worst airline in not just North America, but the worst in the entirety of the American continents.

"nobody at the ticket counter"

Trip Verified | Charlotte to Denver. How is it that the airline requires it's customers to show up at least 2 hours before their flight and there is nobody available at the ticket counter to check a bag until 4am? Every other airline has representatives available. With the amount of money you people charge for a ticket there should always be a representative available for your customers.

"They make you go in circles"

Trip Verified | Denver to Columbia. Just do not fly United. Third time in the past month their plane was delayed by over 2 hours due to mechanical issues. They ended up cancelling the flight. I called customer service. They said they couldn't do anything, and to talk to the gate agent. Once we deboarded the plane, I talked to the gate agent, and once again they said they couldn't do anything and to talk to customer care. They make you go in circles. Now I am waiting at customer "care" in the airport with 14 people in front of me. United is an awful airline, only cares about money, and doesn't care about it's customers.
