"flight was 5 hours delayed"

Not Verified | Las Vegas to Los Angeles. I paid for a plane ticket and the flight was supposed to be at 6AM to LAX. This flight was not for me, it was a gift to my significant other. This flight was so important because he was suppose to meet is family he hasn’t seen in 5 years. We had a ride set up for him so he wouldn’t have to pay for transportation from the airport. We really did not have a lot of money to even pay for the flight. We are both struggling college students. I got off of work Friday night, could only sleep for 4 hours, and then drove 2 hours to Vegas, for Him to make it to his flight on time. Right when I drop him off I get call from him that his flight was 5 hours delayed. That means he’s sitting at the airport at 4:30AM for almost 7 hours. This completely destroyed our whole itinerary. His ride can’t pick him up in California, now we have to pay $60 or more for transportation. He is now hours and hours late to his event and meeting his family. I paid for a flight so early in the morning so he could be there and it was delayed for not just an hour but 5 hours, and he’s having to stay there for almost 7 hours running on 4 hours of sleep. Now we are having to pay even more money for transportation to an event he’s extremely late to.

"Consistently delayed"

Trip Verified | San Francisco to Phoenix. Consistently delayed and being lied to in the process. Turns out the airplane scheduled for the trip has been in maintenance all along and not "delayed in the air" as passengers were told. United appears to be low on planes. They keep switching gates and forget the flight number let alone the fact that they are talking to people who are already waiting for nearly 4 hours.

"has gone down tremendously"

Not Verified | United Airlines has gone down tremendously. If you don't have premier or plus, you are treated like garbage. You cant have a carryon and seats have no charges. 2 years ago, it was completely different - actually had movies you could watch at your seat and you were treated respectfully. Going forward, American Airlines for me, not wasting my money anymore for an airline that doesn't value customers.

"we had to sit in coach"

Not Verified | Denver to Roanoke. Here we sit on the tarmac and we are late. So we will miss our flight and pray that there is another flight to Roanoke. Not only did United overbook our flight but then they downsized the plane. We paid for a first class ticket and we had to sit in coach. The computers weren’t working and we were the first ones at the gate and were told to sit down and they would call our name. Well, that never happened. By the time we realized it the first class cabin was full and so here we are, in the claustrophobic coach cabin. I better get a refund or I will be very angry.

"avoid to fly via United"

Not Verified | Do yourself a favor and avoid to fly via United airlines, very bad customer service, and very incompetent supervisors. Recently I searched on Orbitz tickets to Cancun and the economic one cost $360 I selected first class and cost double $755 each ticket so I wanted to surprised my wife and I bought two first class. Arriving at the airport they told I only upgrade one segment and put me in coach, talking with the supervisor they reviewed my purchase and gave me my first class all the way. On my return same problem So I asked to talked to their agent and he was rough telling me not deserve a first class ticket as I bought coach and only paid for upgrade one segment. I never upgraded my segment I bought first class all the way I was explaining nicely and his answer was not. Will be the last time and please do yourself a favor and don’t use this airlines When they noticed customer doesn’t want to fly with them absolutely sure they will change their manners

"airline is always delayed"

Trip Verified | La Guardia to Washington. This airline is always delayed, I never had a flight with united that left on time either its domestic or international. People that work for this airlines has attitude, making me feel like I owe them for flying united Airlines.

"cheap, minimal and impersonal"

Trip Verified | This was the worst flight experience I remember having - and I'm 71. I had to fly from Providence to Portland via Washington and made the reservation less than a week before the flight. The seats are not only tiny but they have left no room for your feet and legs. The chair in front was practically in my lap. The chairs don't lean back! and are so uncomfortable. When I made the reservation I asked for a window seat not over the wing and got a window seat over the wing without a window. The second leg of the flight, on the Airbus 320 (I think) was the one with the awful seat. The service was terrible. Southwest has the best in air service in my opinion. Alaska's is also good but United's was terrible - almost non-existent. On a 5 hour flight stewardesses came by only once to ask if you'd like food or drink and only one other time at the very very end offering water. Honestly, I thought I might die! I had to get up and ask since no one responded to my pressing the service help button! It all feels very cheap, minimal and impersonal. Given the choice I will never fly United again.

"a total pleasure"

Trip Verified | Newark to Los Angeles. Flight was a total pleasure. Check-in at Newark was friendly and there was zero wait at security. Gate area very spacious and I liked how the gate agents introduced themselves. Orderly boarding into what is a great biz class product, Polaris. Seat with full recline into a bed and big screen with an excellent selection of movies. Pre-flight G&T and then the drinks kept coming throughout. Flight attendant presence was spotty and there only seemed to be 2 for a biz class cabin of 44 people. Food was great and plentiful. On time arrival into another pleasant and airy terminal (7) at LAX.

"keeps taking my miles from me"

Trip Verified | Charlotte to Newark. This company keeps taking my miles from me, is second time they take my miles and this time they will not give back because I haven't flown with them in 18 months. I quit flying with them because it is full of rude people every time I fly. Has lost my luggage before coming home from Dominican republic and delivered to my house days later and never gave me airline credit of $100 on my next flight as promised. Left me sitting on a plane coming home to Charlotte from thru Atlanta. sat in the plane for over an hour at charlotte waiting to get off because they had issues with the ramp that connected to the plane, no airline credit there even though they took my name and promised to contact me. Delayed flight to Dominican connecting through NY, left me stranded in the airport all night till next day morning flight, no offer of a hotel to sleep till next flight, let me sleep in the uncomfortable chairs, even though it was their fault I missed my connecting flight. Then on top of that the people at the counters and the on the airline are just rude. They wonder why I choose to fly with other airlines. I fly 10 times a year nationally and internationally. but talking to a rude customer service lady tonight, told me I lost my miles again, and nothing they will do to help me even though I am getting on one of their planes this weekend for Newark NJ this weekend, will be the last time I use this company. They are too big for their own good and deserve the steadily fall from the top line world that they are currently experiencing.

"the worst customer service"

Trip Verified | Grand Rapids to Chicago. The customer service in Grand Rapids is truly awful. Ticketing agents are miserable and it shows in surly and rude customer interactions. I seldom fly United but have over 1MM miles flown. This is the worst customer service in the 7 continents I’ve visited — a shame it’s in my own home town! United should investigate this. Deplorable service at check in.
