"crew allowed chaos to ensue"

Trip Verified | London Heathrow to Zurich. Poor airline. Booked them because of their reputation. However all I was proceeded with was attitude from check in staff and airline crew that can’t manage the aircraft. This was the first part of a long haul trip. The check in counter was refusing to check me in as I didn’t have a visa to enter Vietnam. However, as I had a return date with the airline and under 15 days it’s not necessary for a UK resident to obtain a visa before arrival. After 20mins of tooing and froing, a member of customer care could see there was an isssue. And put this quite frankly nasty person in her place, she blamed it on the computer! The crew were poor, they allowed a cattle like boarding experience. No one had control, and I don’t care if your a business man or not! If you are in economy treat everyone with respect. The crew allowed chaos to ensue. Only saving grace was a free soft drink and croissant. I would not recommend.

"service in Zurich is good"

Trip Verified | Berlin to Zurich. Decent airline. Boarding was fast however the sandwich on the short haul wasn't delicious. Ground service in Zurich is good.

"very friendly and attentive staff"

Trip Verified | I am a frequent flyer and fly around Europe using different airlines. My experience with Swiss is always one of the best ones. Since I have been flying with them years ago, they never gave me a chance to complain about anything. Decent aircrafts even though some of them are old ones, very friendly and attentive staff and really good service. My experience is mainly based on short haul flights within Europe. The only downside for some may be higher pricing, as they are slightly expensive than other airlines but then better service to compensate.

"minuscule legroom"

Trip Verified | London Heathrow to Zurich. Horrific flight due to minuscule legroom. Must squeeze as much profit out of every inch of space, but Swiss have taken it too far Won’t fly with them again!

"booking seats is useless"

Trip Verified | Vienna to Zurich. Seems to be, that booking seats with Swiss is useless. Two flights, both flight I reserved 9th row, not sun side seat. First flight, Swiss change me to 9th row sunny side. the second flight they change me from row 9 to row 36.

"cramped and uncomfortable"

Trip Verified | San Francisco to Zurich. Nice staff, decent meals, but seats incredibly narrow, they have obviously added several rows to economy to earn as much as possible. For a 10 hour flight, incredibly cramped and uncomfortable. To give an example, had to go into the aisle just to get something from under the seat. Fly someone else!

"never had a bad experience"

Trip Verified | Zurich to Boston. Having flown my share of economy long haul flights, Swiss business class has never disappointed. The E Lounge in Zurich for intl flights is one of the best I know, with a chef cooking on demand and some very nice work booth were I could make undisturbed calls. It also features a nice spa/shower area, which I didn't use this time. On this Boston trip we had their A340 which is a little dated (including the IFE), but has a nice little advantage for solo travelers like me over their B777 seat configuration, the single "K" seats on the right side, available for non-HON members with a lot of privacy. The only really weird thing in this cabin are the 2 bathrooms for which you have to pass the galley, which is inconvenient for the flight attendant that are busy working there, constantly having to deal with passengers sneaking through. All in all, service was great and very friendly, food excellent, I only wish FAs wouldn't entirely disappear for 3h after the main meal on a day flight. But I don't have a real problem with that, I need to stretch my legs anyway from time to time, so I just use the opportunity to pick up a beverage from the galley. I especially liked that I was served nearly the entire flight by the same FA who immediately picked up on my beverage preferences. I also like the consistency, I never had a bad experience with Swiss long haul business, and while there is always room for improvement (like a more up to date IFE), I can recommend it.

"luggage was damaged"

Trip Verified | Zürich to Amsterdam. Traveled on Dec. 24 with Swiss compliant hand baggage. Though we were among the first 20 passengers boarding the aircraft, the flight attendant at the gate stopped us and requested to send our luggage instead. Other passengers were also stopped randomly, actually not so many. The very last passenger was ridiculously allowed to carry on board his big hand baggage, despite the overhead compartments were already full. The boarding procedure was poor and we accumulated a delay of about 20 minutes on departure. The crew was really unfriendly and demotivated. Once we arrived at destination one of the 2 luggage was damaged. (AVIAPARTNER was very responsive and efficient dealing with the incident.) In conclusion we were on the train to the final destination with a delay of about 90 minutes, still on time for the Xmas eve dinner. On Jan. 2nd I filed a complaint through the Swiss customer service web site and I am still waiting for their answer. The service level provided by Swiss on this occasion was comparable to a low cost airline.

"excellent on-board service"

Trip Verified | Prague to Zurich. A ninety minute smooth flight with excellent on-board service and much to be desired ground service. Arrival and departure on time. A "handmade butter sandwich" and a beverage (I chose orange juice) were provided -- the sandwich was surprisingly tasty. Before landing, the flight attendant passed around a basket of chocolate squares -- a stylishly sweet touch. The seats were sufficiently comfortable in a 3 by 3 layout. No personal entertainment equipment on seat back. On the ground, the experience was amazingly unbelievable. I wanted to check in a carry-on suitcase but the clerk at the counter was unable to collect the baggage fee. While a queue formed behind us, the clerk fiddled with an electronic machine to process my credit card before pronouncing that the system was down. Can you believe this? A commercial organization unable to collect revenue! I was directed to a separate booth to pay the fee there and on reaching the place there was no one there. Had to wait several minutes before someone arrived and it took several more minutes for the clerk to take the money -- she had to make phone calls to transmit the credit card information - issue a receipt which I took back to the check in counter -- mercifully was allowed to "skip the line" and my suitcase was checked in. Fortunately it arrived with our flight. This juxtaposition between operational efficiency in air and glitches on the ground was quite perplexing - I was glad I had some time before my flight otherwise I would have become panic struck.

"Service onboard was ok"

Trip Verified | Zurich to Munich. Flew with a new bombardier CS100 (rebranded as an A220) for the first time on a short haul business flight from Zurich to Munich. suffered serious delay waiting on the airside before departure. Service onboard was ok nothing special.
