"Always providing the minimum amount needed"

Not Verified | I need to continue to lower my expectations for Southwest Airlines. Always providing the minimum amount needed and don’t seem to care about customer service. Airport check in was easy, flight was late, taxiing in was late because the flight was late. Baggage was extremely late. Generally the staff all seemed annoyed at you except for the captain from check-in to the flight attendants to baggage. I’m trying to avoid flying them in the future. Alaska please think about expanding to Denver. Flyers would like better options.

"money is the only thing Southwest acknowledges or cares about"

Not Verified | I raced to my connecting flight at Atlanta airport. My seat was sold to another, because I arrived on time. I was told it was my fault that my seat was sold to another leaving me embarrassed, spending more money to re-schedule my hotel and car rental, and then criticized in front of strangers for being late/on time to my flight. My name nor flight was never released on the overhead speakers. My experience that I will share with my family, friends, and most importantly the colleagues from my office advising me not to fly Southwest - money is the only thing Southwest acknowledges or cares about. Southwest's name makes me sick to my core. Only more money from customers who missed their flights, or will pay additional funds to take someones seat is more important than a paying customer. A supervisor came out to speak to my husband and I about the Southwest attendant speaking rude to us to another couple. The supervisor blamed me for being on time to my flight giving Southwest permission to give my seat away making it okay for the attendant to speak about me to this other couple. The reasoning for allowing the rudeness is because I was on time to my flight therefore making any rude comments from a staff member acceptable. I am in my mid-30's and will ensure I never fly Southwest or speak kindly of the company. The company only cares about money and not the future. Keep my well earned money, because it's too little to amount to the future wealth you could have had. My word of mouth will forever be negative towards this airline and staff for being rude and inconsiderate to a person paying for their service. I regret not cancelling my flight with Southwest after several colleagues suggested I change airlines. It was my waste of money to give Southwest a chance.

"hands down the worst company I have ever interacted with"

Not Verified | This is hands down the worst company I have ever interacted with. I flew a connecting flight which they changed on me. The flight was 15 minutes late arriving to our layover. A flight that was on time. My wife ran ahead of me to get to our flight. When she got there she was informed our seats had already been given away. She was in the gate area but waiting for me to catch up. Our seats were given away 10 minutes after they started boarding as were several other people. The attendant then ignored everyone trying to figure out how their tickets were given away before the plane was finished boarding. To the point where she then stated it was past their 10 minutes before departure rule, which states you need to be in the gate area not right at your gate, there was no final boarding call because they had already overcrowded the plane. The plane was so overbooked the people you sold other peoples tickets too had to come back off because there was nowhere to sit. Whoever manages your Southwest Airline employee's at Atlanta international airport is joke and has no mental comprehension of what their job is let alone to be in charge. I feel this company can not operate with any form of intelligence as clearly it shows in your reviews. I suppose I am some what to blame for waiting until after experiencing your uselessness as a company to read the reviews written about your company.

"Extremely disappointed in the promptness"

Not Verified | Extremely disappointed in the promptness of this airline. We were initially excited that there was now a direct flight to Destin/Fort Walton from Milwaukee. In fact, this was the inaugural flight! What started with optimism quickly faded to the “same old same old” disappointment. Our flight was delayed for one hour after the gate attendant said “don’t worry, you’ll still arrive at the same time.” That of course turned out to be false. I am actually writing this review from the plane as we speak - still sitting on the tarmac, 40 minutes after landing with three small children. If you have somewhere you need to be or are traveling with small children, I would highly recommend choosing a different airline.

"Absolutely awful experience"

Trip Verified | Will never fly with this airline again. Didn’t know they had “open seating,” which means that people walk on and sit wherever they please. Which is great for the people with money who can afford to upgrade to the first seating class. Not great for single parents or other families who can’t, because of you are in group C to board, you are almost guaranteed to be separated from your kids/rest of your family. As a single parent, I was furious that my kids and I were scattered throughout the plane and forced to sit next to strangers instead of as a family. The reason I was given was “they haven’t assigned seating in 50 years.” So, that makes it right? No. It doesn’t. We didn’t even get cabin service on the flights and everyone is crammed together like sardines. Lowered the tray tables so I could use it for other things and it was filthy - had crumbs and all, clearly wasn’t cleaned. Absolutely awful experience. Will fly any other airline but theirs.

"Absolutely terrible customer service"

Not Verified | Absolutely terrible customer service - they indicate families with little ones can board early but we were still behind 60 passengers. While on the flight we were told our car seat was not acceptable so lap seating was ok. Then another rude male flight attendant scolded us and threatened to stop the flight if we didn’t get our 2 year old in a seat faster. I tried to explain we were told otherwise as I was placing him in a seat and not trying to cause issues. He was extremely condescending asking me multiple times his age when I had already told him he was 2. If we were refusing to comply, I’d understand his demeanor, however, that was not the case. No WiFi on the flight. Our return flight situation was an utter nightmare. The website kicked me out several times while trying to change our flights as we had a family situation. We paid the additional fee to change the flight but it was the wrong date when it kicked us to the homepage. My fault. I get it. However, the customer service agent was uncaring and charged us another $1k to rebook. They kept reiterating their policy over and over. They refused to assist us and gave us absolutely no break - told us the flight was not booked so our chances of an early boarding pass was probable. Not the case - did I mention I was on hold for nearly 3 hours to speak to someone? We’ll never fly Southwest ever again and stick to Delta, which, has always been spectacular. I’ve worked in the travel industry for 20 years and have never experienced this level of unfriendly service or lack of service.

"rudest, most uncaring person"

Not Verified | This review is of the gate agent at Chicago Midway A4b on the evening of 6/10/21. This gentleman was the rudest, most uncaring person I've ever encountered on any airline. Was very abrupt, unhelping, uncaring individual. He was short with handicapped people, rude to other customers including us twice. He should be reminded that even though Southwest signs his paycheck, the traveling public actually pays him. I am not looking for anything from Southwest just frustrated that this guys attitude left us with a bad taste in our mouth from a trip that was otherwise fantastic.

"How do you not have a pilot"

Trip Verified | Flying Charleston to Baltimore was fine. In Baltimore was notified 2.50pm departure delayed until 4pm for no apparent reason. Then delayed to 4.30pm. It's now 4.30pm and still not boarded. Excuse, no pilot. How do you not have a pilot for a flight leaving at 4.30pm that was supposed to leave at 2.50pm? Lost my car rental because of the delay. So no way to get around while I'm supposed to be working. Asked clerk at boarding counter a simple question and she snapped my head off and wouldn't give me her name.

"Checking in was an absolute nightmare!"

Trip Verified | I used to love Southwest! Man, have they gone downhill. Let me preface my review that the pilots were amazing. Most of the stewards/stewardesses were obnoxious. They make every excuse to not provide food and beverage services. Checking in was an absolute nightmare! There was one staff member trying to direct hundreds of people, and he had no idea what he was doing! We arrived two hours early on our return flight and almost missed it because checking baggage was so disorganized! Will find another airline and hope they are better. One steward made the comment, "It's time for us to get back to making money. The flight is full so don't protect seats." Seriously?! There's a better way to convey that info! All of our flights were late, the second one by nearly two hours. My brand new luggage received a big ding to boot! Inexcusable!

"An outstandingly negative overall experience"

Not Verified | Southwest lacks courtesy commonly practiced by a multitude of airlines. Canceling flights with short notice, sending serial text messages that confuse any intelligence. Attendants unable to enlighten customers where their luggage disappeared the day before and where can it be found the next day. An outstandingly negative overall experience.
