"I will pay more for one of the more reliable airlines"
1 reviews Michelle McGrath (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | Southwest is the welfare of airlines! I will never forget the ridiculous night that I had sitting in Baltimore Airport after being delayed for at least 4 different reasons and even boarded on the plane and driven around the tarmac and then after several hours and different excuses, told to get off the plane because the pilot had timed out and the flight is canceled! I sat alone all night in the airport and it should never have happened! Then they offer to fly me home 2 days later? No money and sleep at the airport? The best part is I have been trying to call them for a week and automated says 1 hour wait on hold, so I waited and they picked up and hung up, not one time but 3 times! I will pay more for one of the more reliable airlines. Check Southwest reviews, all similar accounts.

"the flight was cancelled"
Ellen Gottfried (United States)
Not Verified | My son and his family were supposed to fly from Midway to LaGuardia on June 18. At 3AM he received a text that the flight was cancelled. There were no other flights that day. The planned family reunion was ruined. He tried to rebook a flight for later in the summer, only to discover that the number of points needed had doubled. It would be fair for Southwest to allow him to rebook for the same number of points, but they have not made that option available.

"What the heck is wrong with them?"
S Hawton (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Worst airline ever! They can cancel flight couple hours before flight, boarding system is crazy, always not enough employees and line is huge. What the heck is wrong with them?

"This trip has been awful"
E Carmen (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | This trip has been awful. I am a college student and have summer classes I am traveling to. I booked my flight so that I would have enough time to get to my lodging location and finish a little homework before going to bed. When I arrived for my connecting I found out that my flight was canceled and I was not able to change the "rebooked" flight they had given me. The only reason they gave me for canceling the flight is the weather. There is no weather at my connection point or my destination. There is no weather between. They would not give me a voucher for food or a hotel stating they don't do that for weather delays. I am now stuck at my connecting point for 8 hours waiting for the next flight to the destination. The airport I am stuck at does not have wifi and I have to use my hotspot that costs me money. Southwest would not let me change my destination, cancel with a refund, or change flight providers. When talking with the ticketing agent she also told me there is a high possibility that the "rebooked" flight will be canceled too. That means I will be at the airport until tomorrow with no voucher for a hotel, food, or wifi to do my homework. Southwest has used the "WEATHER" as an excuse so they don't have to give vouchers. There is no weather so don't say the cancelation is due to weather. They need to own up to the real issue. I am extremely fed up and will not be flying with them again if I have a choice.

"They delayed us at every turn"
S Dawes (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | If I could title this review it would be "30hrs in hell". Not just one flight but every flight we had on our quick turnaround from Nashville to Bozeman was delayed, rescheduled, gates changed, lengthy waits in planes for gates, stranding in Denver overnight, just to mention a few. But my main focus here is how horribly we were treated by Southwest staff, mainly on the ground, officious in the air. They delayed us at every turn, every time we needed information or to interact with gate agents, information desk agents, even baggage agents, it was the same thing, huffs, rolled eyes, indifference even intentional misdirection. They all were rude beyond belief, lacked any empathy for my wife who was hobbling on a broken foot, no one took any responsibility for anything or offered any help. What was crazy about this was, while I hadn't flown in a few years as I'm partially retired, I flew hundreds of times on Southwest going back into the 80s and the had always been the happiest and most helpful crews and staff of any airline. Now, the wait time to get them on the phone is always "120 minutes", everyone was unnecessarily rude (as if there was any degree of necessary rudeness) and to a person, exuded the feeling that you were an inconvenience and not customer. I hope never to fly again and have no problem with this now horrible airline going out of business.

"Next time, I will pay extra money for a more reliable airline"
C King (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | First, we boarded the plane late due to a maintenance issue. Then, we sat on the tarmac for an hour before the crew announced they couldn’t fix the issue so we’d have to exit the plane, luggage and all. We were told to just wait for an update. The plane didn’t leave until 5 hours after the original departure date. Due to the delay we missed our connecting flight. Southwest booked us for an evening flight, forcing us to stay another 5 hours in another airport terminal. (They wouldn’t put us on an earlier flight.) We are arriving so late that we are missing our last train home and will have to book a hotel. In sum, we were supposed to arrive at our destination at 11.30am, and will now be arriving at 10pm. Next time, I will pay extra money for a more reliable airline, because the 10.5 hours wasted and hotel add up to more than what a pricier ticket would have been.

"Just beyond livid with the way everything was handled"
Jaclyn Skinner (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | To say my last experience with Southwest was a disaster would be an understatement! It all started from day one to the very end. Beyond disappointed! To start, my flight to Long Island was supposed to be Friday at 5.45 am out of San Antonio, TX. I made sure to check in exactly 24 hours prior, as I always have, and got my confirmation and boarding pass. Then, that very same night, the day before I'm supposed to leave, I get an email from Southwest saying my flight has been changed to the following day, more than 24 hours later than my flight, due to a disruption in my itinerary? So, while I'm panicking because I needed to be in Long Island by Friday, not Saturday, I decided I was going to just show up and play dumb! So, I did! Once I arrived there, I had to talk with the customer service team due to receiving an error at the ticketing kiosk (because they changed my flight, of course). I was asked "Umm...did you change your flight?!" Yes, yes I did and just decided to show up a day prior! Not! So, I very politely said, "No, I had not." They accommodated thank goodness but, I had to fly out an hour later than expected. Okay, whatever, fine. Then comes the following Tuesday. I had this feeling in the pit of my stomach just knowing something bad was going to happen. First off, my flight from Long Island to Orlando got delayed two hours due to "computers going down and there being nothing they can do". Once I got on the plane, they then had us sit on the plane for 30-45 minutes because "the plane is too heavy and they were trying to figure out numbers". Okay, great. Now I'm starting to panic. Not to mention, while all of these delays are happening, I'm terrified I'm going to miss my other flights. I was originally supposed to be home at approximately 6pm but, due to all of the changes and issues, I got home close to 1am the next day! Another flight told us that "they didn't have any flight attendants for the flight" and it, too, got delayed another few hours. Just beyond livid with the way everything was handled! And, not to mention, since I got back to the San Antonio airport the next day (at 1am), I got charged $20 more for parking my car there an extra day. I just do not recommend using them going forward! They do not have anything in order and everything was in complete disarray. I will be using United or Delta going forward because, even as one of the flight attendants said to a plane full of upset people, and I quote, "at least they (United Airlines and Delta won't be late for your flights". So, not only was an entire day wasted for me with frustration and disappointment, I also am out more money than I anticipated because of how much later my flight was. Run! Do not use Southwest Airlines!

"the customer service rep was very rude"
Shantel Bentley (United States)
Not Verified | Today we were supposed to fly out for our girls trip, they over booked the flight and tried to leave one of our friends off the flight. We had booked this trip way back in February, one month ago they emailed moving our flight up from departing at 12.50 to 11.25 today June 17th, 2021 and no actions had need to be taken. Let’s put the icing on the cake, the customer service rep was very rude and told us they weren't going to accommodate us if some people didn’t get on the plane. I’ve never had this experience with them and at this point I would never fly again with them due to the way they were talking.

"you should be truly ashamed"
Tamara Watts Westberry (United States)
Not Verified | My husband was to fly out Wed, June 16th, 2021 around 4pm. He got a notification his flight had been moved to 655pm. He drove 3 hours to Nashville, Tn, got there and the flight was bumped to after 10pm. He's traveling to help his 76 year old Dad during his surgery tomorrow, June 17th in the morning and is also responsible for he 75 year old Mom with Dementia. There is no family left in Austin, Tx that can help. After arriving he discovered that none of the flights on SouthWest today to Austin may fly. Reason given. No crew! Seriously? This is why I never fly anymore. I'll drive across country before flying. Now they have our money, my husband is stuck 3 hours from home, and his parents are in a terrible position. Southwest you should be truly ashamed.

"They have no customer service"
D Faigin (United States)
Not Verified | Worst flight and customer service. Lost 8 hours. Plus had to pay for food. They gave me a $100 voucher. Last night I went to purchase more airfare. In October I have a flight. I went to use the voucher but it expires in September. Its currently June. I paid for the airfare so I had the flight during their 50%off. It was $850. I was on the phone for over 3 hours to use the voucher. Two agents said they cannot attach the $100 voucher whatsoever. But I can have it extended for another flight later on. I then canceled and found different airline same flight details for $50 cheaper. This is an absolute nightmare go elsewhere if you value your time. They have no customer service and will put you through loopholes. They do not value their customers and will not make it right. They just prolonged the inevitable. I have never been treated like this. It was easier to cancel the flight I had just booked than to resolve $100 voucher on a fake 50% off sale
