"completely ruined my trip"
D Allen (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Denver to Chicago. Southwest has completely ruined my trip, i have missed my cousins wedding due to all the delays, cancelations and layovers today. I have had my flight canceled three times today. My original flight was scheduled to go non-stop Denver to Chicago O'Hare at 7am, that was canceled. I was rebooked for a flight leaving Denver at 5am with a layover in Austin, that flight was canceled. I was then rebooked for a flight out over Denver to Dallas that was delayed an hour. My then connecting flight from Dallas to Chicago O'Hare was delayed 5 times before being canceled. I am now booked on a flight to Houston and then to Chicago midway just to get me close to home. Canceled on three times, have been in an airport for 11 hours now, still have two flights to go which are not guaranteed not to be canceled and im not even flying to my home airport where my car is, i will have to pay $100+ for a ride from midway to O'hare and 12 hours after i was supposed to originally land. When i asked for some kind of compensation for my troubles and extra expenses, i was lied to by the supervisor at the gate saying i should’ve been offered vouchers this morning which i wasn’t because i was not at the airport when my first two flights got canceled and then she changed her story to say southwest could not provide compensation because my flights were canceled due to atc when in reality, as reported on the news, southwest as had a company wide system shutdown today which in fact is southwest’s fault and should compensation me for what will be almost 20 hours in an airport and/or plane, a 12 hour delay in my arrival to my destination, my arrival to the incorrect airport and my costs of a taxi from midway to O'hare.

"highly recommend"
Sarah Nichols (United States)
Not Verified | Portland to San Diego. I had connecting flights from PDX to SAC to LAS to SAN. When we landed in SAC, the staff found me on the plane and let me know that there was a connecting flight leaving in 20 minutes that would be direct to SAN and get me there 3 hours earlier (since we just found out there was a delay). They took the initiative to make my experience great, arrive early, and feel confident my bags and tickets were taken care of (which was important flying alone with my kids). I highly recommend.

"they canceled my return flight"
Christopher Byers (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | I missed the first leg of my flight and had to schedule 1 way. Now they canceled my return flight. I asked them how to resolve this issue and they said I needed to purchase another ticket (keeping the money from my original purchase that they canceled). Worst airline ever, worst customer service.

"Never flying Southwest again"
Cory Bezanson (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Computer problems again. Delayed flights for hours and this is just the start of the snowball effect to ruin the rest of my small business trip. Never flying Southwest again. Every time there's delays caused by their own shortcomings. I wish I could charge full amount and not provide my end of the bargain in business with no recourse.

"They literally always disappoint"
D Neale (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | They literally always disappoint. I am now stuck at the airport because their system is down. Was supposed to board at 4:30 am and currently still waiting they are delaying other flights as well as connections. I won’t be flying southwest anymore. They literally always delay and it’s ridiculous.

"Thanks for nothing Southwest"
Craig Miller (United States)
Not Verified | I booked my hotel like I always do through Southwest to get points. I was to earn 10,000 points for my stay via the Southwest concierge. Usually my points hot within 4 days after travel is complete. My flight hit and my car rental hit. I was waiting to book a trip for my wife and I to Austin to celebrate a friends redo of their 50th birthday. Points still have not hit after 3 weeks and now I believe they are taking their time out of spite. Now they are telling me they have to wait for hotel to notify on how many points they need to apply to my account. This is complete rubbish, because it tells you how many points when you book and when you get confirmation email from Southwest. At the time the 10,000 points would have given me a total of 72,000 points and I could have booked a trip for us both for 69,000 points. Now it will cost 120,000 points. I travel about twice a month and it looks like this will increase to probably 3 times per month. Going to American Airlines now. Thanks for nothing Southwest. Hope it was worth it.

"feeling the pinch in terms of staffing"
9 reviews M Warten (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | I flew to MegaCon last August and went with my dependable standby. The arrival flight took off on time but was 20 minutes behind (weather related), whereas departing flight back to RDU was delayed an hour due to custom issues with the Orlando aircraft arriving from Montego Bay. Even with the Delta surge, MCO was packed with people. Coming out of the pandemic, SWA is feeling the pinch in terms of staffing and aircraft availability.

"Shame on Southwest Airlines"
R Shaw (United States)
Not Verified | Shame on Southwest Airlines. My husband and I and our family have used Southwest for over 20 years. This past March 12 we were supposed to leave Portland Maine at 5:30 in the morning and we received a cancellation for no reason on March 11 at 11 PM in the evening. We could not get through to the site via Internet or phone on how to reschedule a new flight. Since we had reservations for two weeks in Orlando all paid for we needed to get on a flight as soon as possible. So my husband tried and tried and waited on hold for almost an hour before he finally just gave up and decided to book a different flight and the only one we could fly find was from Boston which is a 2 Hour Drive instead of a 15 min drive to Portland. The only flight we could find was for 530 leaving Boston that morning which meant we had to leave Portland Maine by 2 AM. We did not sleep at all that night. On top of that the flight that was connecting was delayed as well. The real kicker is that because we did not follow Southwest Airlines rules for rescheduling a canceled flight we had to pay $700 more to drive two hours longer to get to the airport to actually get on a flight. And the person who answered our phone call later on was like oh well too bad you didn’t do it the way you were supposed to. I just don’t understand how a an airline can cancel the flight out of the blue for no reason and not assist their travelers. and then along the way the attendants were rude and obnoxious and in no way helpful or kind. We are still trying to figure out how we can get refunded our money over something that we did not do we did not cancel the flight Southwest airlines canceled the flight. They should honor the fact that we had booked our flights months ahead of time. And they should do a better job when canceling a flight to assist customers and getting to where they need to be.

"I just won’t fly SWA to New England during the winter"
9 reviews C Miller (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Went to attend 90s Con in Hartford, CT for the weekend beginning 3/11. Outgoing departure was on time, good customer service and unproblematic plane change. But due to the winter weather, SWA cancelled my return flight on Sunday—and they didn’t notify me until an hour before my flight was due to leave (via email). They rebooked my flight for Tuesday and I couldn’t do it. I ended up booking a last minute flight on Delta—that got delayed as well — so I ended up staying an extra day. I wish these big airlines had contingency plans for getting customers home. Had SWA rebooked me for Monday I would’ve been happier. Anyway, it worked out for me — both airlines sent me flight vouchers (SWA sent me a $250 one) and I got home fine. I just won’t fly SWA to New England during the winter.

"pay double to fly with a real airline"
Jeff Piccolo (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Been sitting on this plane since 7.35. Flight supposed to take off at 8. It's now 8.20 and no sign of movement. Someone actually just got on the plane 20 minutes after take off time. And still on the app, it says this flight departure is on time. What a joke. I'd rather pay double to fly with a real airline.
