EVA Air customer review

LHR to BKK. Have flown EVA many times and have watched prices creep up but still good value for direct flights. Have always flown premium economy and business and would say premium economy is worth the extra. Last time I checked in at LHR business class desk was open early and they were happy to check me onto the flight even though I was booked in premium economy. The food is the same as economy but it's not bad and was happily served alcohol when I asked for it.

FUK-TPE-FUK. Check-in fast and convenient orderly boarding process nice interiors A330-300 neat and comfortable. I was surprised with the generous leg space in economy class not as cramped as expected I could easily stretch without disturbing others. Meals offered with smiles food was delicious with complimentary ice cream. Breakfast offered on the inbound flight was lovely. In general an excellent airline.

London Heathrow to Bangkok and on to Taipei using their Premium Laurel (business class) service. Service is good with a few anomalies such as a main meal and breakfast even if you arrive 8.00pm local time. Seats have lots of leg room but are not as good as full flat sleeper seats. They have replaced the seat base cushions and are a bit uncomfortable. The other annoyance is the headphones which hurt your ears after extended use. Our flight out was delayed causing us to miss a connecting Thai air flight (luggage checked through at Heathrow) the airlines couldn't have done more to help putting us up in a superb hotel overnight and flying us the next day.

JFK-HKG-JFK November 2011. While premium economy is a good value it lacks service. Food is economy and fair at best - only expect to be offered wine or alcohol during meal service. Crew do come often with water and juice. While seat pitch is good similar to domestic F-class seats are almost as narrow as economy and the leg rest is of little use. Found highly rated 777 seats in rows 23 to have significant vibration and noise over the wing. Cabin and lavatories are kept clean and fresh. Beware JFK-TPE route that stops for fuel in Alaska adds 2-3 hours.

LHR-BKK-LHR. Check-in at LHR and BKK was quick and smooth. On the outgoing flight check-in staff were able to block a full row for my partner and I. The food is fine and the drinks plentiful. I remember travelling with EVA when wine was dispensed from Tetra pack cartons thankfully this has ceased and we now have decent wine from bottles! I will fly again with EVA they provide as competitive a service as Thai with the added bonus of IFE which is hugely important on a long haul flight and much cheaper than BA or Qantas.

LAX-TPE-CGK. The flight attendant went the extra mile when I requested a window seat she came back 10 minutes later informing me of a vacant window seat. Both flights were very full. IFE was sufficient although more selections should be added. Meals were mediocre. Overall EVA offers a decent product for the price they are charging.

MNL-LAX-MNL. It was the cheapest flight at that time. Overall experience is excellent except for the food. Unlike other airlines where they will give "enough" to satisfy your hunger while in a long haul flight this airline will just give you small servings of everything. Whenever you have a long hours of layover (ours was 9 hours before we had our TPE-LAX connecting flight) they will provide you with a food voucher per passenger to use during the layover.

EVA Air customer review

(Singapore)

My expectation of this airline was high however I was disappointed with the poor service on 3 of my 4 flights. Cabin crews were lacking warmth and manners. A few of them were ok but the rest didn't seem to be happy. Food was disappointing the only positive thing was the comfort of the seat . I am 6 ft 4 legroom space was important and I got that in the Elite Class. I flew SIN-TPE-SIN sector. This airline has the potential to make a top airline a real pity really.

NRT-TPE-SIN- return. I am thoroughly impressed. Seat felt rich with foam and fabric was very comfortable and not scratchy at all. I slept very well. Food was tasty and came in generous portions. Flight attendants were very warm even though some cannot understand you linguistically they were very patient to identify what you need. Too bad most EVA flights transit in Taiwan which is a boring old airport.

LHR to BKK return. Business Class service is good value for money. FA's are excellent lounge at LHR utilised American Airlines (average) but the lounge at BKK was EVA's own and better. IFE is good but not 5 star. Noticed sound cancelling headphones on return flight were missing but quality was still acceptable. The only downside is the seats. I don't mind the old lazy-boy style seats but the EVA Air ones are neither this or lie- flat. I found it nearly impossible to sleep and generally uncomfortable. I'm not overly tall or wide.
