"aircraft to ADD was awful"
1 reviews S Green (United Kingdom)
Check in at Glasgow was a bit unpleasant, with the counter staff insisting on weighing and tagging hand luggage, which already had an Emirates Skywards Gold Card on it. Every airline has frosty staff. The lounge in Glasgow is pleasant and well presented. The aircraft on the Glasgow to Dubai Leg was modern and in good condition. Inflight entertainment was good with WIFI available. Quality of cabin service was good with a good selection of food and drinks. Flight landed on time with good communication from the cockpit. Transfers in Dubai Airport are pretty simple and painless. Boarding in Dubai for the flight to Addis Ababa was a shambles. For some reason all the staff were rude and looked a bit confused. The aircraft to ADD was awful, a very old Airbus that should have been retired a long time ago. Emirates lost my luggage. They have no local agent in ADD (not sure if thats true but it is what I was told). I then had to find my own luggage, namely travelling out to the airport to try and find my own luggage on subsequent days. The Emirates product you would normally expect in other countries is almost non existent in Addis Ababa. Rude staff, poor Lost baggage processes, very old aircraft.

"service and food excellent"
Julie Wardell (United Kingdom)
Flew London Gatwick to Melbourne return with Emirates, two segments were on the older Boeing 777 Dubai to Melboune, business class seats 9J aisle, ok - but the service was excellent as was food. Cabin crew introduced themselves at the start of the flight and made sure that you had everything you wanted. The seat on this leg was just an angled lie flat seat, with a foot rest to stop you slipping off the end, and it needed the mattress to make it more comfortable. It was different on the LGW Dubai LGW segments as this was on the A380, seat 9k was extemely comfortable, although the gap to get in was very narrow if you are slighly larger person. Again the service and food was excellent, could not fault it. If I fly to Melbourne again with Emirates will try and make sure its the A380 all the way, just for the comfort.

"had high expectations"
Yakoob Ali (United Kingdom)
A380 excellent aircraft. Awful Emirates service. I had high expectations of flying on this aircraft back to London from Dubai. The flight was 3 hours delayed with the only explanation being that there was technical difficulties. Unless you travel by business class or first class you are treated like cattle and hearded on to the plane as such. Once onboard it doesn't get any better in cattle class. Requests for anything, like an extra blanket because it was so cold, are dismissed and you are left wondering if they misunderstood you or just chose to dismiss your request. I chose to fly Emirates only because of the A380 but if I knew the staff were going to be so rude I wouldn't have bothered. Next time I'll read the airline reviews before deciding how to travel. One good point about the aircraft is the Internet access, I can write this review while I'm on the flight.

Jeddah to Dubai in economy class on Emirates Boeing 777-300. Emirates are a good airline to fly. Flight on time, with great service on board, spacious airplane and good food served.

"this is unacceptable"
Ali Omer (United States)
JFK to Karachi via Dubai. Emirates was the best airline to travel once upon a time. Missed my flight connection due to delay by the airline. Close to 300 passengers with similar issues greeted by 2 people on the counter. After complaining the staff called security who threatened the passengers for taking away their passport as if they have any legal right to do so. They also told passengers not to make any noise. In addition the last time I have checked in to Emirates at JFK I have been asked to place my hand carry so they can weigh it, no word of getting late, how are you, welcome, nothing. End result : 5 hours later; 6 more hours lay over, $15 meal voucher. This is unacceptable.

"will fly Emirates next time"
Naj Lovely-Babcock (United States)
First time on Emirates and couldn't have been more pleased. Timely departure and arrival. Food plentiful and good, staff very polite and attentive. Entertainment center easy to navigate with a good variety of choices. Seats comfortable. Check seating plan and look at row 66 and 67. Lots of space and near restrooms. In all, we will fly Emirates next time to Europe. Easy connections to Aegean Airlines if going to Greece. This airline will be among the players very soon.

"inflight entertainment was easy to navigate"
1 reviews Rachelle SANTOS (United Arab Emirates)
I would rate Emirates as a good airline but it did not live up to the standard I expected. Food was okay and wine was superb. Inflight entertainment was easy to navigate and there are plenty of shows and updated movies to choose from. FAs were friendly however they ignored my call bells.

"overlooked with some service"
Margo Macdonald (Australia)
Barcelona to Singapore via Dubai was my first experience flying with Emirates and I was impressed with the comfortable seating, entertainment and food services. Even the toilet facilities were roomy and well appointed. Staff were courteous and pleasant however myself and my travelling companion (both women in our mid fifties) often were overlooked with some service details while the young male passenger seated on the aisle next to us was always attended to, had meal trays collected (ours were left) and received regular complimentary drinks but we were never asked. A friend (also an older woman) mentioned she had a similar experience travelling business class with Emirates in May 2015 and had to ask the male passenger seated on the aisle next to her to assist with service requests. I've not experienced this with other airlines and maybe this needs to be addressed at the training level.

"leave you alone to sort it out"
C Emms (United Kingdom)
We were planning a trip to Perth to see our daughter, tragically my wife fell ill, diagnosed terminal within a few days. Just a few weeks later on the day the flight was leaving, after an Emirates flight reminder, she died in just 7 short weeks. During her illness I tried to cancel the flight and use the money to fly my daughter back. Although I thought I had purchased one return ticket with one set of conditions that allowed cancellation, the return flight unknown to me had its own set of conditions that precluded any refund. After many emails and phone calls I was not able to cancel the flight and get a refund. After family help, with no help from Emirates, we got enough money together get my daughter home, tragically too late. During that time Emirates thanked me for my understanding and refused to help quoting terms and conditions of the return ticket and refused to consider changing a ticket to allow my daughter to fly back. They would retain my money and provide no help. During my wife’s illness MacMillan Cancer Support contacted Emirates on several occasions and attempted to help get my daughter home using the tickets or a refund on the purchased tickets. The same reply was given to MacMillan Cancer Support as was given to me, despite them talking to senior staff. Emirates final email thanked me for my understanding in these difficult times, saying they could do nothing to help. MacMillan Cancer Support wrote to Emirates to express their concerns over the lack of compassion and support, to-date there has been no reply. If you fly with Emirates pray you will not need their help because they will thank you for your understanding and take your money and leave you alone to sort it out.
