"treated as a prisoner"

(Switzerland)

Geneva to Tokyo via Moscow with Aeroflot. My flight from Geneva to Moscow was 1.5 hours late, when I had 1.5 hours transit in Moscow, meaning I landed when my connecting flight was about to take off. I knew about the very short transit, therefore consulted the cabin attendant when I found out that the flight was delayed. To which I was told the connecting flight would wait for me and I would be guided to business class just before landing so that I could get off the flight early, in which case the transit would be smooth, and there will be ground staff assisting me the transit. All points was a total lie! They could have, and I do have experience with other flights that the departure time is delayed by 30 minutes or so for connecting passengers, however no such arrangement was made. Neither did they allow me to go to the front of the plane. Rather, I was moved twice to the rear end of the plane due to families wanting to sit together. On top of this, none of the ground crew were there to help me at all. Because of this, I was forced into staying 24 hours in Moscow in a hotel arranged by Aeroflot. But this is the crazy part. You stay in an airport hotel in a "special" floor where there are security guards so you cannot leave the hotel. You cannot even go to the common area of the hotel without a security guard behind your back. Basically, you are treated as a prisoner!

"service was excellent"

(Canada)

After having read some negative reviews of Aeroflot I was a bit worried. Now I would not hesitate to recommend them. Service was excellent, the flight from JFK to SVO was punctual and the price was low. The seating was a bit cramped, but not overly so. The only concern I had was that the crew did not strictly follow the security protocols and failed to instruct the passenger sitting in front of me to return his seat to the upright position for landing.

"flight was a disaster"

(United States)

Flight from Moscow to Los Angeles was a disaster. I was flying alone with my 12 month old baby and it was very was uncomfortable. The gentleman sitting next to me was willing to move to another seat in order to give us more space, however flight attendants said that other seats would cost extra. I couldn't even use my table because my baby had to be on my lap for the whole flight. They saw this, but still gave me two trays of food, one for me and one for baby, I had to put them on floor and eat from there.

"flights were exceptionally good"

(Poland)

Aeroflot Russian Airlines from Warsaw to Delhi via Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport. From Warsaw to Moscow was a 2 hour flight, Sheremetyevo airport wasn't bad for the transfer. Moscow to Delhi I also went with Aeroflot, and both flights were exceptionally good they had great service and inflight entertainment.

"happily fly them again"

(United Kingdom)

Hong Kong to London Heathrow via Moscow with Aeroflot Russian Airlines. Both flights left on time and arrived early. In flight movies were good. Food was good but small portioned. Drinks were served regularly throughout the flight. Flight attendants were attentive, smiling and efficient, spoken English was good but mandarin Chinese robotic like. Check in and bag drop off seemed to take a long time. 5 counters open for normal check in and only one counter each for online check in / bag drop off and comfort class and above. Transit through Moscow Sheremetyevo seemed very inefficient but arrived at next gate to LHR with 1 hr to spare (1.50 hr stopover). No need to pick up checked in luggage at SVO. It arrived safely at LHR. This was the cheapest ticket I could find online compared to other airlines for this route. I'd happily fly them again.

"inflight entertainment really great"

(Russian Federation)

There were very few counters open for check-in in Hong Kong Airport, and I spent around 40 minutes standing in line. Onboard, the seats were very narrow in a 3-4-3 layout, seat-pitch was small. In-flight service was okay, no smiles but quite efficient. Crew members disappeared for a 5 hours in between meals and didn't bother make any drink rounds. Inflight entertainment was really great though, huge selection of movies, no complaints at all. Food was quite tasty, but the portions are small. Wine (very cheap one with poor aftertaste) was only served with the first meal.

"pleasant experience and great service"

(United States)

We flew Aeroflot from New York to Moscow on A330 on November 2nd. The flight crew were professional and very attentive. My mother was not feeing well and they were efficient and helpful. I liked that fact that one of the flight attendants remembered to bring hot water for my mother to take her medication with without any further reminders. Thank you for a pleasant experience and great service! Will definitely be flying with Aeroflot again.

"everything was excellent"

(United States)

Los Angeles to Barcelona via Moscow with Aeroflot. We are a family of six, our youngest is 10, I was worried about so many things, including the fact that you can't choose your seat until 24 hours before the flight. We had the best flights ever! We loved Aeroflot, the seats, food and entertainment, everything was excellent. We have flown Delta in the past to Germany, and Aeroflot was so much better. Movies were new, good shows, many options. Russian people aren't very smiley, good thing I didn't need a friend on flight, just someone to bring food and drinks! The only minor gripe, they served the drinks warm, no ice, and only a little water, definitely buy a water before you board the plane.

"business class was really good"

(United Kingdom)

The Aeroflot business class experience was really good - we were greeted on arrival with a choice of sparkling white wine, orange juice or water, we were given a proper menu for lunch, and were served with a linen tablecloth and napkin. We were also offered small screen devices and headphones for watching films, but I didn't take one. There were only two seats per row, which meant they were really wide. The downside was that we hadn't been able to select seats in advance, and I noted that the first row of seats was empty and would've preferred to have been seated in a row on my own, where I could get up freely, rather than next to a stranger, whom I had to disturb if I wanted to get up. I wasn't even able to select window seat or aisle seat, which I think is unsatisfactory. Other than this, you felt like it was a proper business class flight - we even got toiletry bags, blankets, and a gift of speciality tea to take with us on landing. Apart from not being able to select seats, it was far superior to the KLM business flight that I took on the return flight. Having said that, the staff - though efficient - were rather 'cold' in their manner (never smiled and never exchanged pleasantries), which is a sharp contrast to the KLM staff on the return flight. (But this might reflect Eastern European professional culture - I experienced similar cold, but efficient, professionalism once in a 5 star hotel in Tallin.) If I have to go to Moscow again, and am lucky enough to have business class flights paid for, I shall avoid KLM like the plague and make sure I get Aeroflot. It's several notches above KLM.

"I never got on the flight"

(United States)

I reserved and paid for a Premium Economy seat about 4 months before the flight. The night before I was to fly I called Aeroflot to reconfirm, and was told that she couldn't confirm my reservation and that I would have to check in with the NY Aeroflot office when it opened at 9AM the next morning. The flight was scheduled to leave at 11:50 AM. No explanation, no apology, no nothing. Fortunately the agency that had made the original reservation has a 24/7 help line, and the agent I spoke to there was able to discover that the plane I was booked to fly on had no seating configuration for Premium Economy. The only seating choices were Economy or Business - this from the airline that had accepted a reservation and payment for a Premium Economy seat 4 months before. I have no problem with airlines having to change equipment, but I think it's fair to expect them to notify affected passengers about changes in the seating configuration. If I hadn't called, Aeroflot would have sprung this on me at the airport, when my only choices would have been to accept the downgrade to Economy or upgrade to Business for an additional $3K+. Instead I cancelled the reservation and rebooked Economy on Finnair, where at JFK I was able to purchase a Premium Economy upgrade on one segment for 60 Euros, and where I got a free upgrade to Business Class on another. I booked Aeroflot originally because I had heard that they had substantially improved their inflight services, and perhaps that it still true. Since I never got on the flight, I wouldn't know. And I never will; because of their unbelievably incompetent reservation services, I'll never try to fly them again.
