Kingfisher Airlines Business Class Flight Review London Heathrow to Mumbai
DEPARTURE SERVICE
Found it a bit difficult to reach the Kingfisher First check-in due to the extremely long Y-
class lines (Kingfisher had two oversold flights that evening). Check-in agent was efficient,
although not friendly. Fast Track security was quick and made way to Holideck lounge. Lounge
was average, alcohol selection was great but only snacks were available. I left the lounge to
get something more substantial to eat. The lounge was extremely spacious and I was able to get
some work done before boarding.
CABIN APPEARANCE
Kingfisher First customers are allowed to board at any time to the process by walking to the
front of the line. Welcomed at the door and escorted to seat. First impression was that the
cabin was spotless. Kingfisher's scheme is a bit too red for me but the seats did not look old
at all. Bathroom was clean, and remained so throughout the 9.5 hr flight.
SEATING COMFORT
Extremely comfortable seat in both seat mode and bed mode (flat bed to 180 degree recline).
Layout of cabin was 2-2-2, making it difficult for the window passengers from getting out when
the aisle passenger was sleeping. Bed was extremely conducive to sleeping due to turn down
service: FAs would place a bed pad over the bare seat to compensate for the breaks in the
seat. I was able to sleep for 6 solid hours on this flight.
ONBOARD CATERING
Kingfisher's meals were above par. Dinner choices were a Veg or Non-Veg thaali (collection of
Indian dishes) created by London's Chutney Mary restaurant, and two Italian options. Had the
Veg. thaali. Was a bit spicy for my tastes but still very good. Accompanied with soup (Creamy
Mushroom) and dessert. Breakfast was good, albeit a bit light. There wasn't a real breakfast
entree dish; I had fruit, a muffin, and yoghurt. Bar was nice to have. Drinks were always
topped off throughout the flight.
INFLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT
The screen size was huge, at 18 inches. Selection was not great. English selection was few in
number (about 8-10) movies and slightly outdated. Huge Indian/ regional movie selection. All
was AVOD. Bose QC3s were a great touch as well. Magazine was a special Cine Blitz (too
glitzy). I really appreciated the extensive periodical service before the flight;
international and domestic newspapers in a plethora of languages and many magazines were
available.
CABIN STAFF SERVICE
Staff went above and beyond throughout the flight. When I only selected one dish for the
breakfast, my FA begged me to choose more. Whenever she passed through the cabin (every few
minutes), she always offered to do something. Turn down service was excellent. While the pax
changes into the pajamas and uses the amenity kit in the washroom, the bed is made and a
chocolate is left on the pillow.
FLIGHT ARRIVAL
Deplaning was quick; I was 3rd off the flight. Immigration was quick and my priority tagged
bags were already waiting for me when I arrived at the belt. Plane to taxi in 15 minute... a
personal record for me at BOM, where this process can often take upwards of one hour!
CUSTOMER TRIP VERDICT
Kingfisher has managed to make itself stand out in the international market and I will go out
of my way to fly them. Only room for improvement is entertainment. Although the hard product
(AVOD and screen size is great), the offerings are extremely sub-par.
