KLM Business Class Flight Review Amsterdam to New York JFK
DEPARTURE SERVICE
Transited via AMS from Zurich. Nice airport AMS though bit of a distance to walk between halls. Used KLM
Crown Lounge at gate 52 (just near USA departure gate). Nice big lounge with plenty of areas to seat,
relax, listen to tv, work. Used shower facilities, efficient service, clean cubbicles. Then catch up on
emails from the few pc with free internet access provided. Flights are not called from the lounge, so
watch the screen!
CABIN APPEARANCE
Seated on the upper deck of this 747 combi. Nice feel upstairs somehow bit more roomy than below.
Friendly and courteous crew with plenty of greetings once onboard.
SEATING COMFORT
Old reclining seats which are fine for a day flight, not so much for a night flight as impossible to
sleep in them (angled).
ONBOARD CATERING
Limited choice as only 1 starter available (take it or leave it) and cheese/desert but not both! Quality
was good as was quantity. Nice wine list with sweet wine offered (rarity in business class I found).
INFLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT
Good IFE system and easy to use. Good choice of movies as well as CD.
CABIN STAFF SERVICE
Friendly crew, polite and smiling. Worked hard to please everyone.
FLIGHT ARRIVAL
Arrived just before 9pm in New York JFK. Appalling US immigration clearance, a shame for visitors to this
country. Kept passengers from 2/3 flights (KLM, Asiana) waiting in line for more than 1 hour as not
enough staff to process efficiently the immigration task.
CUSTOMER TRIP VERDICT
Overall good flight. Had 1h delay as an electronic problem just on the runaway prior taking off, KLM
handled the event very well. Maintenance crew were waiting back at the gate we left 20min before with the
replacement device. Fixed in 15 min then we were making our way back to the runaway.
