British Airways Premium Economy Class Flight Review London to Delhi return

DEPARTURE SERVICE

Other than unavailabiliy of internet and fast bag drop check-in, due to overbooking of flight, the experience at terminal 5 was a pleasurable and efficient experience.

CABIN APPEARANCE

On outward journey in a Boeing 777 cabin looked new, was clean and in good condition. On the return leg in a Boeing 747-400 the cabin looked like it could do with a refurbishment, as it was looking tired and worn looking.

SEATING COMFORT

I could not fault the seats in premium economy. Although only offering a little more legroom than economy (38 ins. to 34 ins.) and a couple of inches wider and slightly more incline, this made a big difference to how I felt at the end of a 9 hour flight. Not exhausted and minimal jetlag, compared to an economy experience.

ONBOARD CATERING

The meals were what I expected-same as economy. Although I expected glassware and proper cutlery, which I got on outward journey, but strangely only plastic cups on return journey. BA need to show more consistency here.

INFLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT

On outward leg AVOD was a problem for some of my fellow passengers, although mine worked fine. On return leg AVOD worked fine for everyone. One criticism is that on a flights to India, BA really should do better than only offering four Bollywood movies.

CABIN STAFF SERVICE

Could not fault the cabin staff; professional, polite and smiling. I was even more impressed because I knew that the airline and its cabin staff are in a serious dispute over pay and conditions of service due th effects of economic credit crunch.

FLIGHT ARRIVAL

Expected experience at Delhi to be a problem, but was pleasantly surprised ay encountering no delays or chaotic scenes at all. Toilet facilities much improved but still not on a par with the best. Heathrow terminal 5 was excellent throughout.

CUSTOMER TRIP VERDICT

Overall a good experience. Well worth an upgrade from economy both for a more relaxed flying experience and for the extra baggage allowance. Conditions of cabins need to be more consistent. Good on outward leg, tired looking on return leg.
