SWISS International Airlines Business Class Flight Review Zurich to Chicago


DEPARTURE SERVICE

Requirement for US passengers to complete an additional form made gate area confusing. There seemed to be 1 line, yet 2 distinct booths - 1 for economy and 1 for business/first. Did not have time to use lounge.


CABIN APPEARANCE

Brand new A330-300, so cabin was clean. However, there were crumbs in the video remote, which was a bit surprising. Otherwise everything worked.


SEATING COMFORT

Lie-flat seat worked fine. I liked being seated in the "k" row where there is nobody next to you.


ONBOARD CATERING

Meals were decent in quantity, but quality was surprisingly a bit poorer than I expected. Appetizer was good, but accompanying salad was nothing more than bagged lettuce with oil/vinegar dressing. Main course was OK, but more bland than expected. Dessert was a choice of fresh fruit or yogurt with berries. The fruit seemed like canned fruit. It was decent, just not exceptional.


INFLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT

System worked great, the only problem was the system was not started until 45 minutes into the flight and turned off 45 minutes before landing. Choice of movies a bit poor with other airlines offering more recent box office releases.


CABIN STAFF SERVICE

Cabin staff was a bit prefunctory, but otherwise friendly. Initial drinks were offered, but after takeoff drink service was slow - I have had quicker service in economy class. After lengthy meal process, staff essentially dissappeared until serving a mid-flight ice cream cone and then no presence until an hour and half before landing. While always a smile present, staff just did not seem that intested in the passengers.

CUSTOMER TRIP VERDICT

Flight was OK, but service for B-class not as pleasant as I would have expected. The new plane and seating pattern was pleasant and the AVOD worked great. However, the indifferent crew and poorer than expected catering meant for a flight that seemed to drag on a bit.
