British Airways Economy Class Flight Review London Gatwick to Barcelona


DEPARTURE SERVICE

Due to an emergency landing of another plane the LGW airport was closed for about 45 minutes which resulted in our flight being delayed from 18:30 till 22:00. Check in was uneventful and we cleared security quite quickly. Got 5 vouchers for refreshments as a compensation of the flight delay.


CABIN APPEARANCE

The aircraft (737) was quite outdated with its decor, and sad to say but it wasn't the cleaniest I've seen. Lots of crumbs on the tray table and seats.


SEATING COMFORT

Our seats were bulkhead seats with no recline at all in row 25. Legroom was standard for any Y class airline. Air vents were not working properly but for this short flight it really didn't matter.


ONBOARD CATERING

BA is very inconsistent in the meals option and this varies from airport to airport. For example Y class from LHR you are most likely to get a hot item but unfortunately when you are due to fly from LGW only cold sandwiches are offered - there is an option to get a vegetarian sandwich. Standard drinks selection of tea/ coffee, OJ, wines and basic spirits was offered.


INFLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT

CABIN STAFF SERVICE

Only 3 crew members were on that flight to serve C and Y class so service was not same quick as from LHR for example (for 737 a minimum of 4 crew would be assigned when departing from LHR) but they were polite and quite halpful.


FLIGHT ARRIVAL

We left the plane as one of the last passengers due to being in the rear of the plane. Imigration was prompt and when we arrived to claim our luggage those were already on the conveyor belt waiting for us, but please bare in mind that BCN terminal 2 is an extremely long building so it took us good 15 minutes to reach baggage claim room.


CUSTOMER TRIP VERDICT

On the scale 1 to 10 I would give this flight a mark of 6. The flight itself was of a good quality but experience in LGW (delay, delay, delay) brought the score down.
