DEPARTURE

As I had checked in online, I utilised the Fast Bag Drop. It was quite fast and efficient, and there were no long queues. I went quickly through security, less than 2 minutes. All these being said, this was not during the most busy times of the day (mid-Afternoon/early evening). There airport was quite empty, except for the passengers on my flight and one of two others. It's quite a different story during the peak periods. (late morning/afternoon).

CABIN

Very clean, well-maintained. The cabin smelled fresh and pleasant. It was a Boeing 747-400.

SEATING

I sat in seat 52B-the curvature of the fuselage at the end of the 747 allowed me some extreme room. Otherwise, the seating in World Traveller was very cramped. That's one area BA could improve.

CATERING

Dinner was served after takeoff from Vancouver: the food was tasty, but the portions were too small! Red/White wine, and beverage service was offered before and during the meal. Before landing at LHR, "All Day Deli" was served: a ham and cheese croissant with yogurt, a granola bar and water. Again, portions could have been more generous.

INFLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT

Problem with inflight entertainment after takeoff from Vancouver, but was resolved quickly by Cabin crew. A good selection of new movies, kids movies, music, etc. Quite sufficient for a 9 hour flight.

CABIN STAFF SERVICE

Cabin crew were polite and attentive, but they seem to disappear into their rest area at the back of the World Traveller cabin once the meal service is over. Only during the latter part of the flight did they start to offer drinks to passengers.

FLIGHT ARRIVAL

Arrival at Heathrow Terminal 5B. Deplaning took a long time! Over ten minutes, as I sat at the very back of the plane. Gates at Heathrow Terminal 5 only have one airbridge, as opposed to two airbridges at many other airports; thus, deplaning takes twice as long as it would at Vancouver, for example. Light rail transit to Terminal 5A was fast, clearing immigration was fast, collected luggage very quickly. It took 30 mins to go from plane to the arrival hall.

CUSTOMER VERDICT

Overall, a pleasant flight which can be improved in several key areas: more legroom in World Traveller plus and meals with larger servings.
