DEPARTURE

Walk to T2 at Nice is an easy 200 yards from car rental return. Check in was fast. At CDG, connection to Terminal S3 requires a full hour. We had to go through security a second time (first time was in Nice). Waiting area in S3 is spacious and comfortable, with electric outlets available everywhere to plug laptops.

CABIN

A320 (NCE-CDG) and B777 (CDG-IAD) were both very recent aircraft, clean and in excellent condition. Comfortable pillow and plastic-wrapped blanket on every seat (CDG-IAD segment).

SEATING

Leg room on A320 was adequate for the short flight. On B777, 3-3-3 seating arrangement is inconvenient for couples traveling together. Seat itself was comfortable with good legroom and recline. Excellent individual video/audio on demand, with wide choice of movies in several languages.

CATERING

Pleasant surprise: ham and cheese sandwich was offered on NCE-CDG (departure 1:35 pm). Excellent dinner on CDG-IAD (4:30 pm departure). My travel companion's vegetarian meal was also excellent (couscous with chick peas and vegetables, cheese, fruit and custard).

CABIN STAFF SERVICE

Typical French service: crew very attentive during boarding and meal services. Then, all retreat to the back to party. Everyone is welcome to join and it can be fun. But if you need something in cabin, you will have to use your call button. The free drink cart available to all throughout the flight is very convenient.

FLIGHT ARRIVAL

Transfer in CDG was clearly marked but it is very important to follow the signage carefully. Plenty of staff was available to help. Baggage transferred without problem and was waiting for us when we finally cleared immigration at Dulles, which was a nightmare (90 minutes wait!)

CUSTOMER VERDICT

Everything went very well, although CDG-IAD took off one hour late (waiting for connecting passengers, then traffic control). Both NCE T2 and CDG S3 are new and very pleasant terminals. To avoid stress, I would recommend at least an hour and half to connect in CDG.
