BUSINESS CLASS - London to Rome
1st June 2006 by Marco Silvi
DEPARTURE
I used the handbaggage only desk where there service was quick although I was given wrong
information about my flight. I used the LH lounge which has better food offer than the AZ lounge
which however is less cramped.
CABIN
Standard bright green interiors.
SEATING
Nice legroom, and larger seats on the left hand side (layout is 2-3 on the A321).
CATERING
Good on the basics: duo of smoked fish starter with asparagus, chiken with wine white sauce,
gratinated spinach and orzo pasta, and two pastries for dessert. No apéritifs neither little extras
such as butter to go with the bread roll. Only one drink offered.
CABIN STAFF SERVICE
Ok, better than on the flight to London where staff were downright rude. At least the stewardess
smiled occasionally on this flight.
FLIGHT ARRIVAL
We were docked at the Schengen pier so had to take a bus to the International arrivals hall - 10
minutes or so were wasted. At least the flight was on time.
CUSTOMER VERDICT
In my experience AZ flights range from 2 to 3 stars, and this was a 3 star flight: on time, ok food,
passable service. As long as you don't expect any extras, AZ is an ok alternative when BA is fully
booked (as on this occasion).
