We were seated in 55H/K. Pitch and width both OK. Base of seat was hugely uncomfortable after
a few hours - seemed to have very little padding. TV screen becomes all but useless if the
person in front of you reclines, even if you also then recline. On the return leg (LHR to SYD)
we were on an older A340, which had the docking position for the entertainment controls on the
inside of the armrest making it very hard to remove / replace while sitting down. The aircraft
on the flight over had this under the screen, which was far more sensible. My reading light
seemed to be aimed right in between the seats and couldn't be adjusted.

I will never willingly travel Virgin Economy again, after an excruciating 12 hr flight from
London to Shanghai. I checked out the Premium Economy on my way out of the plane, and have
upgraded for my return flight because couldn't stand another 12-hour flight in those
uncomfortable seats. I think they were the hardest I've ever sat on. Felt similar to flying
Easy Jet, but those are normally a 2 hr flight so your bottom doesn't go numb! I resorted to
using my inflatable neck cushion to sit on. The other problem was the lack of a foot rest.
Having recently suffered DVT, it was important not to have my legs hanging down for 12 hrs
(even though I wear stockings and walk around every few hours); Virgin had told me incorrectly
that there would be one. I think it's irresponsible to have seats with no foot rests on long
haul flights, given the incidence of dvts occurring after these flights; raising your legs
helps the venous return. All in all, a terrible experience.

Seat pitch on this newish A340 was nowhere near the advertised 32 inches. It could not have
been more than 30 inches. Remote for the video froze up two-thirds through the flight - could
not even turn my reading lamp on. No pre-dinner drinks, no offers of drink refills during
dinner. Asked for a napkin with breakfast muffin and f/a told me, "we don't have any in this
aisle, although they do in the other aisle," and left it at that. My first experience with
VS, and not a positive one.

Seat 62K - a good seat in the tail of the plane which means you have extra space between the
seat and the window. Ideal for stretching your legs out and to keep your bags with you.
There also appears to be slightly more leg room than the seats further forward (I'm 5ft10 and
had at least 4 inches between my knees and the seat in front). Only downside is that the
seats on Virgin are narrow, and I did have problems viewing the screen once the seat in front
had fully reclined.

Travelling with a baby we were in the bulkhead row 31 SYD-LHR. Seats are narrow and seatbelts
are fitted with an airbag assembly that makes things tight and uncomfortable to say the least.
I am 130kgs and I required a belt extension to fit around my waist. Will never fly VA economy again!

Unlike Air New Zealand the foot rest is in the seat in front and not part of the one you are
in, so you dont get any leg support. Pitch is OK but nothing special and width is good.
Relaxing is helped by the fact the A340-600 is one of the quietest aircraft around.
Generally more than worth the amount I paid and if you are travelling long distances, this
type of cabin should be seriously considered.

Orlando to Manchester probably the worst flight in ten years. I am 5/10 and my knees tight against
seat in front. I have never before felt claustrophobic but I did on that plane. I heard the crew
talking amongst themselves being disrespectful about the passengers, the breakfast was a squashed
muffin that smelled awful and was literally thrown onto the tray. My last transatlantic was with BA
the first day terminal five opened which was bad but the plane and service knocked spots of Virgin
all they need do is stay competitive on price. Richard try flying economy some time.

Premium Economy Cabin with latest seats in leather. Good width and enough legroom for a longhaul
flight. Good sized screen on seat in front and a double-width armrest between adjoining seat. Table
folds to half-size and turns, so just possible to get out with your meal still there. Excellent AVOD
system, and don't recall under-seat equipment restricting legroom. Travelled in the daytime, so
don't know how the seat would be to sleep in.

Old style VA Prem. Econ seat, was surprisingly comfy, although the headrest was nice and soft
(didn't need pillow), when seat was upright it felt your head was forced forward. The footrest when
released had to be "assisted" to the full position, and was not easy to retract when I got up. We
had an exit row seat, so the TV question wasn't an issue.
