The trip TPE-SYD was on a newer A330-300. Compared to the A340, the seat pitch was less at 31",
making it a bit hard for the person at the window seat to get out. The design of the armrest made
the handset stick out quite a bit which can be quite annoying as you often bump into it. However the
seat itself was quite nice, with massage rollers on the footrest and decent lumbar support system.

The seats on the A340-300 were quite comfortable and it was fine for someone large like me. China
Airlines has installed foot massage rollers on their footrests on the A330 and A340, which was great
for a long haul flight. The only problem was the seat pitch, which wasn't too bad (32") but could
have been better.

Though not every China Airlines 747-400 are equipped with the new economy seats, the one I was on,
was the 'Dream Liner', a newly outfitted 747-400 where the interior atmosphere and design follows
that of the 777, more streamlined giving passengers the sense of more room. And now with personal
entertainment systems behind each seat, it makes the 18 or so hours from JFK-TPE go so much
faster and comfortably.
