This Air New Zealand lounge is a throw back to the mid 90's. Dated decor, junk food, staff chatting to
each other but not the guests. It needs to be updated.

Basic, not a lot of food and it was ordinary. Comfortable seating. Great wifi and newspapers, and views
over the runway. Staff were brilliant. No alcohol which was disappointing.

Decent selection of food, but mainly cold food. Selection of meats, cheese, salads and soup. No
champagne, but an average NZ Sparkling. Lounge can be a bit cramped during peak times, and loses its
relaxed feel as everyone is clambering for a seat. At quieter times, quite a nice lounge.

I was in transit in LAX on my way to Melbourne, arrived from Vancouver. This time in a different
terminal (terminal 3, Virgin Australia) but then was told that premium economy passengers do not have
access to the lounge. I was fine as I was a gold member, but if I was not, why pay for a premium ticket
and not get access to the lounge. This is one of the sole reasons a passenger flies premium! The lounge
at terminal 3 LAX was poor. It was small, no liquor licence and food selection the poorest I have ever
seen in my travels of multiple lounges worldwide. I was told the lounge was temporary. Again a very
disappointing experience when being a gold member or premium, business or first class ticketed
passenger. There was a complimentary card for alcoholic beverages at a bar downstairs, but this is not
so nice as you can't bring up the beverage to enjoy in the surrounds of the Virgin lounge. I would
recommend any Virgin passenger talk to them about the facilities of their lounges and think twice before
paying for a premium, business or first class ticket going through LAX.

The Virgin Blue Velocity lounge at Brisbane airport is a good place to find peace and quiet
away from the crowds. It's large and has most of the services one would expect. Seats are
comfortable, service is fine, and especially good at the coffee/beer bar. The fresh food bar
has a very limited range, which generally includes - bread, sliced ham, cheese, tomato, good
for making a sandwich. Overall it's the snack options that let the lounge down, but not enough
to keep me away. Apart from costly membership rates, Velocity members can pre-pay online for a
lounge pass (on their day of travel on Virgin Blue) for $30. Anyone travelling Virgin Blue can
also walk up to the lounge and buy a pass for $35. There is only one shower located in the
male toilets (I would presume the same applies to the female toilets). The shower stall is
small and ill-equipped with no hooks for hanging carry bags or clothing (or towel) and the
shower water tends to end up all over the "dry" area. When you request a towel from reception,
you will receive two (of very average quality) - the second being for the wet floor.
If you have a couple of hours to kill (2 hours maximum), and you prefer to wait somewhere
peaceful, this is a fairly good option.
